  1. The tax they do charge should be less than what you would have paid in a store though right? I know I save 3% with Kohl's online because I don't have to pay the city tax that would be added in stores.

I haven't heard of them charging local (city or county) taxes yet so it could be cheaper if you have those in your area.

  2. I have ordered 3 TVs from Amazon (no distribution center in my state) and a really large one from Sams just these last two weeks with no issues. I also ordered a 800lb 32gun safe that as delivered through Fedex to a point and then through a private company out of El Paso,TX (all 5 of these items had FREE shipping)

Amazon, Sam's or other companies may have a shipper in your area but apparently Best Buy hasn't set one up for large items. Like I said, Fedex and UPS don't want to deliver large items to homes. It's a pain in the butt for them so they leave that stuff to smaller local companies, just like you saw with your gun safe.

I do live by several Best buys within 3 hrs of me just none convenient.

If they do not have shippers set up to places they DON'T have stores that is kinda crazy!

It actually makes sense if you think about it from a business standpoint. Any place they have a store they need to have a delivery service, people buying large appliances in store will want to have them delivered. They can use that same delivery service for online orders of large items.

To be honest, it's likely that the large items never go through a traditional shipper like Fedex or UPS. Best Buy probably has shipments going from their large warehouse to their stores at least once a week. They could throw a TV in their normal shipment to the closest store then the delivery service from that store brings it to your house. It would be very cheap for Best Buy because they don't have to do much extra work, that big shipment is going from the warehouse to the store anyways. It would be much cheaper than paying a delivery company.

  3. At least they'd SHIP to you, I tried to order 3 different TVs two were specials and one was regular price and they would not ship "to my area" now I realize they were offereing free shipping but could they AT LEAST offer for me to pay some kind of shipping to get the TVs..?

What was really irritating is I could of course pick them up at stores..the closest being 3.5hrs away and a dozen or so in my moms area (dallas) Actually I could even SHIP them to my moms house in dallas where SHE has the opportunity to GO TO A STORE! Is this not kinda backwards to anyone else? Shouldn't the website cater to people that DO NOT HAVE A STORE NEAR THEM!?!?!

I sent them an email but have yet to hear back. They lost $2200 worth of sales from me over it and I only ordered a camera from them..had I KNOWN I was going to have this issue with ordering TVs I would have bought that camera elsewere too!

So add me to the list of not happy with BB!

I don't know about Best Buy but I know some online places do not ship TVs with normal carriers that service the whole US. Fedex and UPS generally don't want to deal with large shipments that require special handling or multiple people to unload. Instead they use small companies that are contracted to do local deliveries. If they don't have a company in your area set up to do deliveries they can't ship you the TV.

  4. Honestly I fail to see how this is Walmart's fault. It's the fault of the basket cases that literally crushed a man to death because they wanted to save a few dollars. A store shouldn't have to worry about people killing others over a sale but the public is going nuts lately. This is why I'm not really planning on going out on black friday anymore. People are getting rabid.
  5. Agree. But in my case, I am not sure if the manufacturer's warranty will be valid on a bulb that needs to be replaced periodically when it has lived its life. The service plan had claimed to cover it, though. There is no paperwork, just the Circuit City receipt with the additional cost shown that was charged for the service plan - as a separate line item.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you were still in the manufacturer's warranty period it would probably be covered. However, you don't have a manufacturer's warranty. Keep on trying to call and fax at this point, maybe check the internet for any information about them.

  6. Thanks for the info, I was still on the fence about buying a large ticket item from them with the store closing but if I can not even get service then why bother?

In my experience the only warranty that is really worthwhile is the manufacturer's. For large TVs they'll come to you for service. Also, if you contact the manufacturer you often can get extend the warranty.

  7. Any tire warranty is prorated unless it's a manufacturer's defect that's apparent very early after being installed. Usually they'll give you a few months, a year tops, where they'll replace it with a new one. After that it's prorated. It keeps people from killing their tires on purpose right before the warranty is done and trying to get brand new ones.

If you paid $120 for the new tire (pretty cheap for a truck tire) and they offered you $30 for it, meaning you had used 75% of the safe life of the tire. What's there to be upset about? They are paying you for the unused life you didn't get from the tire, why should they pay you for the use you got out of it?

Tires are wear items. They go bad, you need to replace them. Heck, you used to be lucky if you 5k miles out of a tire. You got a few years out of them, and 38k. They only cost you $240 for the set of two, which was a great deal for truck tires.

If they treated you badly, go somewhere else. However, any tire place will have the same warranty.

  8. I'm not surprised. Honestly, if you want decent service you shouldn't be going to Walmart, they're in it to make money. The quality of the stuff they sell is usually pretty low, I've found that if its something I'm planning using more than a few times it's cheaper to buy a better one somewhere else. It may cost more initially, but it's cheaper than replacing it later.
  9. Sorry to hear about your shipment. I hope you find it somehow.

Once, we found a fedex package that someone tossed on the ground near our gate. It was for a neighbor down the block. Another time, they delivered a package of ours to that same neighbor. Fedex may be faster, but they don't seem to give a darn who they actually deliver to.

I don't think it was ever even delivered! I think they just marked it delivered to make their numbers look better (I know many delivery services rate their drivers by number of packages delivered per shift) and figured they would bring it back later.

  10. I'm just angry that they said they would deliver it the next morning, but then the driver marked it as delivered right after they left the note. Now it's not in the system. My bet is the driver wanted his "delivered packages" number to be better. I'm just worried that now it's no longer being tracked that it will get lost and I'll never see it.
  11. One of my vehicles needed a new oxygen sensor so I ordered one from Rock Auto (for anybody needed car parts it's ridiculously cheap, very good deals) and they Fedexed it out. Fedex left a message on my door yesterday that said they would leave it at the apartment office this morning. It said they came by at 6:30 PM. I called the office this morning, they said Fedex had been by, but they didn't get anything for me. I checked online and Fedex said that they delivered it, yesterday at 7:00 PM.

This is a small part but it retails for $120-180 if I you buy it at an autoparts store (I paid $50, but still). Nobody seems to know where my part is.

    ARG!

  12. According to my wife, I will only get one.

Except it will be me kissing her ass.

    :cheesy:

I'll probably do the same, I've got to get her to agree to fixing my jeep somehow... ;)

  13. Same at our CC. We thought we were fairly close to the front, until 4am when employees came out to hand out the AOL agreement info. People showed up from everywhere. "Aunt Maggie's sister's cousin's brother's neighbor was holding our place in line." Whatever!!

When we pointed this out to employees, they said they were looking into it. They didn't care. Ya know, I give those guys that work retail props for having to work days like today, but this was the rudest bunch I've ever seen.

That's ok, Dell just got me as a customer. LOL

At least you aren't stuck with AOL like you would if you signed that agreement.
