  1.

As a side note, the customer bought the WII in September, not a month ago...see here. Or was it in October: here, and here?

OR maybe, just maybe the OP bought more than one Wii this year?

You have a very big chip on your shoulder, raven20_79. I hope that you got out of the CS field...for your own sake as well as others.:(

  2. They have the Butterscotch horse that Santa is bringing my daughter (according to her) for $219, BUT the shipping is $119!!! :eyepoppin I have a JC Penny card, but all the coupons they send me are in-store only  Anyone know of any codes for % off or free ship?

I have one for 20% on December 9th only - the discount code is "house".

I'll look for a free shipping code and post it if I find it.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Hi All,

My ds 15 has been doing poorly in school this year (sheer laziness), has gotten into alot of trouble skipping school (he got caught) and lies about doing his homework (hence the doing badly in school). Also doen't listen to what we say to him. I have several items on my list to get him including a 19" lcd monitor, 8gb nano and a wii (already purchased). The problem is I can't bring myself to think he deserves these gifts. About $600.00 in gifts for a kid that just lays around doing nothing. His sisters have less expensive gifts (nintendo ds's and littlest pet shop items etc..) but have several gifts to open on Xmas day (13 each). My problem is do I get him the gifts and reward his bad behavior? We got him a pair of pants for his birthday but he was so sad after. I know he's a teenager, but when I was young and did something terrible, I certainly didn't get a $250 wii. Anyone else with experience would be greatly appreicated!

I also have teens and feel your pain! They can just break your heart, can't they? :(

I think that simply because you are asking this question, you already know the answer. You can let him know you love him and still give him something for Christmas without rewarding his poor behavior. These are LIFE lessons we are teaching them and sometimes we must have sadness (a teenager who didn't get a Wii for Christmas) in the short-term to achieve success (a happy, productive, well-adjusted adult) in the long-term. :yup:

Go with your instincts - you KNOW the right thing to do (which may or may not be what I would do). ;)

I'll check on this. It is not my understanding that a 1099 must be issued for you to report the income. It just means it is easier for you to cheat without it. In most jurisdictions, once you begin selling products or services, you are considered to be a sole proprietor. I'm not aware of the exception from income taxes as long as everything you sell costs less than $600.

As far as I know, if your income/profit from a business is less than $600, it isn't required to be reported. I might be wrong, because we just take all of our info to the accountant and let them figure it out, but that was true when I was filling out my 17 year old's taxes last year...

  5. Selling what belongs to you (if you aquired it legally) makes it perfectly okay to sell it if you want. It doesn't necessarily become a moral issue unless one is cheating in order to aquire the item. Line jumping is cheating.

I agree completely! I bought 2 Wii consoles at the end of October (1 to keep and 1 to sell). I was able to sell it on ebay, but there were not any guarantees that I would be able to, so basically I took the risk by tying my money up for over a month in the hopes that there would be a demand for it. I didn't do anything that anyone else couldn't have done, if they chose to.

I invested my time and money and took a risk. How is this unethical??

  6. My experience wasn't bad, but I was afraid that I was going to have to get firm with them!

The girl at customer service said they didn't PA on BF, but I told her I had asked specifically when I was there last week buying the items and was told unequivocally that I could PA.

She told me that they hadn't allowed them to PA all morning, but called one of the managers over. I told the manager I had specifically asked about PA and was told yes, but she still acted like she was going to tell me no until I told her that corporate had said yes to PA even on Black Friday, then she told the girl to go ahead and do it. The manager didn't seem really pleased, but she wasn't unkind, so no problems, really. I got $25 back on a gift card that I had used, another $30+ on my debit card.

  7. OK, here's a question:

You all are sure that Wii Play is considered a game? It's not counted as an accessory or hardware? I bought it today and plan to return it tomorrow to do the buy 2/get 1 promo...

I would hate to lose my copy if I can't include Wii Play...

    Joanne

I'm positive. When they had this deal before I got a Wii Play as one of my 3 (B2G1) and I also asked tonight when I was buying mine. I actually bought 2 tonight and asked SPECIFICALLY if the Wii Play counted and she said absolutely! HTH

By the way, I bought 2 of the Wii Play simply to get the controllers and sell the unused game. The girl at TRU said that she saw a used Wii Play at GameStop for $30 or so. I might take it and trade it in at GameStop! :yup:

  8. I'm confused do you need a coupon for the gift card or for the B2G1 Wii games? I may have to run out to the store in the AM. Or have my DH do it he's on his way home from work early tomorrow.

You need the coupon for the gift card. I was there tonight and one of the people there told me about it. She also told me that they price adjust and if I bought what I wanted tonight, I could come back tomorrow & price adjust. She said they would run out quickly because they were going to have the Wii for sale and most people would buy the games also.

I got 2 Wii Plays (keep the $40 controllers & sell the games!), HSM Sing It!, Mario Strikers Charged, Mario & Sonic Olymic Games AND Super Mario Galaxy (With the $25 GC). It was $320 - $55 in gift cards (from the other SM Galaxy, + 2 $10 GC w/$75 & 1 $10 GC with $100). Tomorrow I'll go back & price adjust $100, plus I get to keep my $25 GC from SM Galaxy.

I was there last night getting the Color Wonder/Color Explosion deals. I left with over $200 worth of stuff for $71 (had a $25 GC from my SM Galaxy pre-sell).

I LOVE my Toys R Us!

  9. When they do the sale every Oct (Buy 2 get 1 free) on all video games - 75% of them qualify for the promo online. Online you'll see a buy 2 get 1 free caption under your game. At the store they all qualify. They usually don't do the buy 2 get 1 free after Oct, I hope your specualtion is right!

I was in TRU Monday & 2 of the "oldtimers" that work there told me they think they will do another b1g1 (or b2g1) before Christmas, but didn't know for sure when... Hope they're right!! :yup:

  10. Compaq is now owned by HP, Alienware is owned by dell, and e-machines is owned by gateway. Shy away out from dell, HP has a very good record, Alienware has been solid, but it is super-high end, and completely configure your own (with a huge mark up like dell). The $449 from OD is decent, add ram to bring it up to 2gb, and it will take care of the average person for a while. It is not for gaming, video editing, or graphic artistry by any stretch, but most people doing that would not have to ask if it is a good enough buy. If you are asking, then this with 2 gb of ram will take care of you. You may find better deals, but this is a pretty decent one.

HP makes great printers, but not so great computers. My company only recommends Dell because they are very reliable and will take a lot of punishment. We are in the healthcare industry and reliability is very important (obviously).

The Compaq may do fine for your average person (I disagree), but with only a $50 difference in the compaq and a dell, Dell wins out every time, IMO.

    :)

  11. Hi,

I too am looking for a Laptop for my Dad, and saw this for $449 at Office Depot. Is this good ???? Should I wait until BF or buy this ????

    Thanks,

IMO Compaq is not a good brand. You can get one from Dell for $499 and sometimes even cheaper (though not often). Sony & Toshiba are ok, but we only buy & recommend Dells..
  12. Where is this deal????

  14. Ours isn't a 24 hour and I am not about to stand in line for Wal-Mart for several hours. Year before last, I decided to go in around 9 am after I finished at BB and I was able to find a lot of the blitz items I wanted, though. I just walked the path of where the line had been. Apparently, a lot of people got tired of waiting in line and just left there stuff right where they were standing. I found 2 of the color video now players, along with several other toys and movies that I was looking for. I was only there about 15-20 minutes....
  15. Probably try to be at BB by 2:30 - no later than 3:00. Guy at BB tonight said if I want some of the big ticket items I had better be there by 3:45. Another one said when he comes in at 4:30 the line is at the other end of the shopping center, so guess I better go to bed early!:tired:
  16. I was just at WM tonight and the lady at the front said the Durabrand stereo price in the ad was wrong. It shows a doorbuster price of $48, but it's $38 right now. Couldn't get any help in electronics to find out what the price will really be Friday. :-(
