I love Express, that's great! But what about Abercrombie or Hollister?
Nope, never saw any BF sales at Abercrombie or Hollister. American Eagle had 15% off until noon. That was about it. I think those stores avoid early bird sales to keep a certain image and the "ultra trendy" factor.

I would have to say that any store that doesn't have bf sales are insane
well, the really popular stores don't really need the business from black friday sales since people are more than willing to drop $$$ on their stuff.

Yeah, Kaufmanns is Macy's now. I live in Connecticut now so I always forget! I'm definitely not going to sleep out for BB this year. Dick's is definitely my first stop if they are doing gift cards this year! :) I'll be in Pittsburgh for BF and it's a tradition for my mom and I to shop early together but nothing is really jumping out at me from any of the ads this year! But it's worth it just to have the time with my mom!
I agree, it's such a great bonding time w/mom. I wasn't too thrilled when Macy's took over Marshall Fields. Somehow, the quality of items goes downhill.

Not really. Hardly any of the upscale stores have BF sales. Maybe some will have extra 15% off before 1 PM.

Two or three years ago the Dick's sporting goods store in Pittsburgh, Pa at the mall at Robinson gave out $10.00 gift cards to the first 100 people. That was also the year Sears and Kaufmann's gave out gift cards. I don't think they did it last year but could be mistaken. I think Steelers gear was too hot an item last year for Christmas in the 'burgh and they had that draw to get people in Pittsburgh into the stores. But again I could be mistaken about last year. I was only focused on Best Buy last year. Slept out from 11 PM on Thanksgiving till 5 to get my sister the laptop and my hubby a surround sound. I'm hoping that they are going the gift card route this year! I could use some Penguins gear for almost everyone on my list. And I'm sure Malkin jerseys are not going to be on sale!
Hehe, true! Didn't Kaufamnn's become Macy's already? I don't think Best Buy has a very impressive BF sale this year, at least not worth waiting in line the day before.

The $10 off coupons are in the Thanksgiving day paper and they are only good until noon on Black Friday - but also good until noon on Saturday. It is only one per customer, but you can go to different departments or get in line again.
Has it been confirmed that's what Macy's doing this year for Black Friday? Before some department stores converted to Macy's, they would give gift cards to the first 100 pple. Any insights if Macy's will follow the former dept store's tradition?

I hope this year, they will give out GCs for the first 100 customers and have some NFL merchandise on sale. But it won't happen.
How much was the gift card? And how long ago did this happen, every year on Black Friday or occasionally?

According to the latest news, many stores now are charging a restocking fee if you return an item, especially electronics. The stores that were mentioned were Circuit City and Target. So that may be something to keep in mind.

Check out Filene's Basement and Loehmann's. A bit pricer than say Ross or TJMaxx but has more selection of designer stuff.

Hmm, I don't really know any sites online for this, but I can recommend actual stores. Would it be incovenient for you to buy the stocking stuffers at a store? Since you sound like you are going to buy a lot of stuff, maybe you should check out the Dollar Store, Big Lots, even the $1 section at Target (which surprisingly has some cute stuff). Candy and baked goods are always a good idea!

I'm confused whether Macy's has the $10 off $20 purchase in the paper or the $1,000,000 giveaway (whatever that means...but can't use giftcard until after Friday). Anyone have any insights?
Also, when does Macy's open?
