  1. Fedex too now have a partnership with the USPS (called Smartpost). It is a cost saving deal that makes use of the fact that USPS delivers daily in residential areas. It is popular with shippers and carriers but not necessarily so with the poor recipient. Think before you go with the free shipping deals, USPS will be the way shippers make it affordable to them.
  2. I bought th 32" LCD because it had lots of good features. It was really worth the money...until it broke down. If you get one, pray that it never breaks down.
  3. Before you buy a printer now you better check and see if it comes with a ink cartridge. I've heard some companies are not including ink cartridges with their printers because the printers are getting so cheap. I got a lexmark all in one printer (scanner, copier, and color printer), it was free when I bought my laptop, it came with a ink cartridge. The ink cartridge for it runs around $20 at Walmart (you can find refilled cartridges cheaper on internet), but you don't have to buy black cartridge and all the colors separately. I know one color will probably run out before the others making it a little more expensive to use but you don't have to keep have a lot of different cartridges on hand or constantly ordering each individual color ink cartridge.

They used to come with printer leads!! So now they are leaving out the INK?? I guess I had better lay in a supply of power cords.....

Is there anything else they can take out?

  4. i got the Canon ip3000. picked it up for $70 or so. Black ink for it is like a $7-10 and the color is 3 diffrent tanks. each about 5-7$ .

Honestly i would consider those budget Lexmarks. I used to have a Lexmark but i went flipping when i saw the ink was like $45. each.

I too bought the Canon IP3000. A good printer for my requirements and ink is reasonably cheap too. I buy mine through Printpal. Check previous threads for other good deals on ink.

  5. When you explore the price of a color printer also check and see what print cartridges it takes. Some of the ink cartridges are as expensive as the printers. This could cost you dearly if you do a lot of printing.

That is very sound advice. I bought my last 2 printers based on the running costs of ink.

For a cheap printer http://www.buy.com/prod/Lexmark_Z611_Color_Inkjet_Printer_14ppm/q/loc/101/201691692.html. At that price you get a general all round printer. When the ink runs out - look for another printer deal.

  6. I have used skyauction.com to get a good deal but it relies on no one pushing the price up too much.

Otherwise Travelocity.com has produced all of my other good deals. It helps to be flexible on your travel dates and planing to fly on Wednesdays is cheaper than Fridays or Mondays.

I also look at flying to another destination and then at the offers from there to my preferred destination. For example flying into Schipol (Amsterdam) and then either getting a local flight or renting a car could be cheaper than flying to Frankfurt. We travel to Frankfurt via London Heathrow but that is because I have family in England.

  7. I feel very little sympathy when these large companies fail to meet their expectations. They manage to make a greater % profit each year than most of us see in our pay checks. Year on year they expect to make a higher profit than last year despite the state of the economy.

Thank you for letting me vent, I spent a year unemployed so that one of them could reach it's target. Maybe I am just a tad biased. :-D
