  1. I also have Comcast Digital Cable...how much did you spend on your Panasonic DMR-EH55s? and where did you get it?

I bought it at ABT electronics store, it's just outside Chicago. I had a tough time deciding where to buy it. There are a few websites that have it for between $420.00 to $470.00 but their return policy is no returns on open merchandise. Then i narrowed it down to Circuit City.com and Abt...I could have ordered it from Circuit City since it's not in store but i didn't want to wait so i went to ABT and bought it there. It $499.99 but i had a price match from Circuit City.com for $479.99 This is the best alternative to TIVO out there. I did my homework. Best thing about this unit is the picture quality using LP mode. It's almost as good as SP mode. The only compliant i've read about is the TVGOS or TV guide onscreen. It uses the broadcast signal to update it's TV guide but some people have had problems getting it to setup correctly with their cable box. It has a cable box control that it uses to search channels to find the signal. I really won't be using it too much to have it record at a certain time. Most of my recording will be manually recording while i'm watching tv. So far the picture quality is great. The SD card reader displays pictures too.

  2. I avoided TIVO altogether and bought a Panasonic DMR-EH55s. It has a 200GB hard drive so you can save your shows and then burn to DVD at your convenience. It has a tv tuner and upconverts to HDMI. Best part is NO FEES. I have Comcast Digital Cable connected to mine.
  3. I was at Best Buy last night and i asked about a couple things that show up as sold out and they said they had some in back for Friday. I looked around and there were a few on the shelf even though the website said there wren't any at the store. Keeping my fingers crossed.
