  1. Hey,

Just a question, but it looks like the prices of Blu Ray movies are slightly higher online than they are in the ad. AM I missing something? So example, Godzilla: King of the Monsters is advertised at $5.96 in the ad for BR, but it $8.95 for it online. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't the 4K version. Am I crazy?

    Don't answer that.

    Am I seeing this right?

  2. I, too, have posted on myspace!

    Hello Friends!

If you, like me, live for the thrill of buying ridiculously expensive things at outrageously low prices, you may be a Black Friday Warrior. If you finish your last piece of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving Day and yell, "Okay, everyone in the car!" drive to your local Best Buy and stand outside in line with a portable TV and thermos of Hot cocoa laced with butterscotch schnapps, then you may be a Black Friday Warrior. If you bought a $1000 flat screen TV for $400 and some change last year, then you may be a Black Friday Warrior!

I have been a BFW for many years now. I spend weeks making plans, saving money and over all building endurance to brave the cold and fierceness of my other BFW competitors. I have done 75% of my shopping on BF, thus saving me thousands of dollars. But one retailer is threatening all this. One retailer wants to take my fun away! This is the story of that retailer.

In the past two years I have used a web site called http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/ to preplan my shopping. They post all the circular ads for all the web sites weeks in advance. They store all the deals in a database so you can chose to search by doorbusters (those sales only available at the butt-crack of dawn), type of item or price. They allow you to generate a shopping list, compare prices and sometimes even have pictures of the items scanned in. This service has saved me time and money. I can go the stores I need, get in and out, and be done with all my shopping by noon.

Wal-Mart has threatened to sue Gottadeal.com if the site releases their black friday ad early, stating that gottadeal.com is revealing their trade secrets. I'm sorry to say, but this is unfortunate and downright despicable. Again, the world's largest retailer is using their power to crush the independent spirit of the small business owner. Gottadeal has been in business for years as a portal site to online coupons and values. The BF ads have never been stolen but voluntarily given by employees of the companies they represent. For those of us who spend a lot of energy preparing for Black Friday, Gottadeal is a blessing.

Here is the article that was published by cnnmoney.com.

If this upsets you, I request you make your voice heard via emails, phone calls or both. The only way giant corporations like Wal-mart ever hear the people is when we have a loud enough voice, and it effects their bottom line. If Wal-Marts does sue, then I will boycott Wal-Mart this BF and take my hard earned money to other places. I hope you will join me.

Here is a forum where you can see the feelings of other such BFWs, as myself: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=85021

    Thank you for your time!

  3. Got an email from CC on the Ferris Bueller. They are sending me a $10 credit to adjust the price. It retails there for $12.99 - $10 credit is $2.99 or less than the ad. Yea, me!

Still no word back from Walleyworld.

  4. I contacted Wal-Mart central and they said they received quite a few complaints about it. Told me to call the district manager locally and they'd have to sell me the disc at that price.

Still waiting to hear from Circuit city.

  5. The walmart I went to sold the triology set of x-men for $9.72, so I got all three movies for that price...

That is evil and wrong, you lucky sonnafagun!

Sports Authority rang up a 25% discount twice giving me a 50% discount. Best deal I got outside of Tower's going out of business sale

  6. I ran into two situations where the picture on the ad was not what was offered at that price. Both were DVDs.

The first was Cirucit City. In their 2 for $8 Dvds ad, they prominantly display the special edition cover for Ferris Beuhler's Day Off, but the regular edition (which I already own) was what was in the bin.

Next at Wal-Mart, in their $9.87 Dvd ad, they show the collectors edition X-men III, but only had the regular edition available in the store.

Of course, being Black Friday, no one really cared when I brought it up an neither store had the opposite version available. It's really no big deal, but it's dissapointing to a videophile, such as myself, to look for specific Dvds and not find them.

    Anybody else run into this?

    Dave

  7. A lot also depends on what area of the country you live. It's hard to imagine being out all night in Wisconsin versus Florida. And what your competition is. Larger cities have less competition, with more stores. In Denver, I get there about three hours early. It puts my about 50-100 in line. Not everyone is after the same things and I usually get what doorbusters I want. Your results may vary.

  8. Howdy,

Got a new email from Compusa listing online specials available Weds (tomorrow). One thing they have listed is a Lacey Extenernal 250g harddrive for $14.99. When I click on the link, it shows the unit at $149.99. Now, I'm no stranger to doorbusters, etc. But this is striking me as a typo, not a doorbuster due to comparible models and their doorbuster prices. (more like $89.99)

Will Compusa have to honor this ad, even if it's a typo, or face a bait-n-switch lawsuit?

    Dave

  9. Hello,

There is a new store in Colorado Springs called Entertainmart. They used to be CD Warehouse and are starting a new push across the country to replace Media Play. The stores look very similar, only no books.

Does anyone have access to a BF ad for them?

    Dave
