  1. You know, I don't want one, but the last few times I have been at our Wal-Mart they have had them. The first time they had the expensive system and then the last time they had the core system. I don't know if that is just a fluke but they seem to be pretty well sitting around out here now.
  2. Come to think of it, I haven't even opened it.

If you want it, PM me and I'll mail it to you.

Let me give you guys a little advice about Mp3 players...I bought a 20GB one last fall....I decided after ripping 200+ CD's that I would NEVER do that again, so I saved ALL the music to my portable hard drive after I was done with it. If you have one, definitely do it. I bought an Mp3 for my mom and one for my son. My mom's 1GB was done in like 3 minutes and my little boy's was done in about a minute...it honestly took them longer to choose the songs than it did for the computer to sync the drives. As for the napster thing. I totally forgot about it, and I went back to look at his, and his does not have the stuff in it.
  3. We sent most of our kids toys to my mom's house already...when I was a kid, my mother used to put bells in our boxes to make sure that we weren't shaking them. As far as hiding them, she used to always say that if we found the presents, they went back. Kept us from even trying.
  4. This is not about me but my 5 year old. A couple weeks ago my 11 year old DD and my 5 year old DD was sitting at the kitchen table and I heard my 11 year old whispering to my 5 year old that Santa was not real. So she hollered at me in the other room and asked me if Santa was real and of course I told her yes. The I hear the oldest whispering to her the "mommy is lying to you"! I couldn't believe it, what would possess her to tell her that. Needless to say my 5 year old still believes and if my oldest wants her PSP for Christmas I don't think I will hear about it again.

And I can assure you that the 11 year old would get COAL in their stocking and NOTHING else for Christmas and probably grounded if they were mine!:gd_army:
  5. My father had dressed up like Santa at a family xmas party, and I said to my aunt, I know that's my dad~! And she said Well good for you, don't you dare tell the other kids that Santa doesn't exisit.:(

I was 7 and that hag ruined Christmas for me! I never said I didn't think Santa was real, I simply said I knew that the guy in my living room wasn't Santa!

Come on, Daddy was just one of Santa's many helpers. Santa makes so many celebrity appearances that he needs help!
  6. I had seen something the other day mentioning this was going to be hard to find..>I just left Wal-mart earlier, and appartently Wal-Mart's have just gotten in shipments of these if any shoppers are still looking for these.
  7. :sidesplit Sorry...stupid question. I've been sick for a week and my brain has been mush. Starting to feel a little better so maybe (keeping fingers crossed) I won't be asking too many stupid questions. lol

It would have been nice for them to have just been on sale though!!!....:):cheesy:
  8. We've had one of the fiber optic trees for the past 3 years, but ours doesn't look like a charlie brown tree. I keep telling him we're gonna get a better tree, especially since his daughter is here this year. But she said she hasn't had a tree for the past couple of years so this is better than nothing and she's happy with it, so i guess we'll keep it for another year. have a wonderful day all!

I've got one of the big ones and it looks great. It's just this little one that is UGLY. And the colors remind you of a 70's disco. I have been looking for some little tiny retro ornaments to put on it...I figure, if you can't beat em???
  9. Be sure to either leave a note on your door to NOT leave stuff on your doorstep or be home whem UPS comes. We just got a brand new cell phone. Our UPS person NEVER leaves stuff, and they left our new Treo out on the porch in the 8 degree cold on the front porch for five hours....I am so lucky that no one stole it or it didn't freeze. I wouldn't have ever imagined that they vendor would have allowed that to have been something that could have been released without a signature. Just be careful.
  10. At launch, I believe there were 22 gsames that are backwards compatible. They are tring to get ALL, but it may not be possible. And anyone who thinks they wont go through this with the PS3 is insane. Sony is the one who started this type of release. They have NEVER had enough, with any system launched. Some say the PSP was the exception, but here it was not. Just dont think its not gonna be you.

Well, quite frankly, they don't want to make too many. They want there to be a panic and have people freaking out in the street. It's great free publicity. It makes the game system look more popular than if 100 million people all bought one and the extra 20 million set on the shelves, and we just got to see pictures of the things sitting on the shelves. They want you to think about how hot and cool the things are. I mean the things will sell themselves anyway, but when they sit on the shelves, they will lose a bit of their "cool value"
  11. The issue I had was that they said they couldn't help him because then they would have to help others, but I saw for myself when I was working there the exceptions the manager made for 3 women, 2 who were hurt on the job, and one who broke her leg and hip in a motorcycle accident. He put them doing desk stuff so they could still work. I think it had something to do with him being a him and not a her.

You know companies in general are scared of that...hims are not as scary as hers...I have seen that time and time agagin. I think that was more than likely an idiot manager being terrified of meeting the EEOC. nevermind the fact that it's just as discriminating the other way around....
  12. I think it is a problem because according to what DH and I have read that is only like 4 or 5 games.

Also, if we read correctly the XBox and all games will no longer be made or sold after XBox 360 has been out for about 6 months to 1 year. So basically by this time next year, you will play hell trying to find any new systems or games. Has anyone else read or heard this?

You know, this is basically the way all of the systems worked as far as releasing the new games and then not releasing new ones. And I had heard the limited backwards compatibility issue. That would be why I scratched my plans to stand in the crazy long lines for the XBox. I was actually going to do it, but after I started reading up on it, I changed my mind. I just couldn't see taking a day or two off, spending 500 bucks and then only being able to play limited games. No thanks, I'll just wait. I tend to like to wait for the games to be out for like six months to a year anyway...you save 30 bucks a game most of the time. Think about all of the extra games you get that way. I explained that to my son, and he is totally on board with that principle now. At first he was mad, but once he realized that he can get two six month old games for the price of one new one, we just buy more after they've been out for a while. I also work on computers, so I try not to buy things when they first come out...I try to let the glitches work themselves out first!
  13. Maybe in your community, but not here. They gave out $10,000 on the day they opened when the tv stations all came out here and haven't given out a penny since then in the two years they've been open. When my fiance was working there and broke his leg, they told him he would have to wait until he could come back full time and do the job he was doing when he got hurt, because they just couldn't be accomadating, because if they did it for him, they would have to do it for everyone.

Each Wal-Mart has a charity budget that they are allotted to give out based on their store volume. If the store isn't giving it out, they would have been addressed by their regional management. They probably are giving it out, just without the cameras. And as far as the broken leg goes, I used to work with several different stores as a supervisor for student workers, and many different retail stores would have done the same thing because if he would have reaggrivated the injury, it would have been worker's comp. It doesn't make it any easier for you to pay your bills, but I have had people have the same thing happen to them in many different stores, not just Wal-Mart.
  14. Where did you hear this? Wal-Mart sets market guidelines, not the other way around!

Oooh Bill Gates and the Walton family in a slugging match. I'd pay to see that. Seriously, if there are XBoxes around, Microsoft itself may have some alternate guideline or street date that they are having vendors adhere to, not Big Bad Wal-Mart once again picking on the little tiny consumer. I'm pretty sure that when Wal-Mart makes their order for ten times what the other retailers ask for they are probably pretty open with Microsoft about their intentions. If they wanted to drop them out of an airplane, I would imagine that they would tell Microsoft at the time they ordered them.
  15. I bought a Palm about a while ago... I used it for about a month and then just stopped. I love technology... I carry my iPod, laptop, PSP, everywhere but I just could not fit a Palm in my daily routine...

That's why I bought the Cell phone Palm...When I had a regular Palm pilot, it was just one more thing to carry. Now that it is my phone, I am good about ensuring that my names and contacts are downloaded up and down to the phone as well as my calendar. I just wish that it was on the Windows platform, but from what I hear the new ones will be.
  16. Need a quick education. I would like to get my husband a PDA that is a step up from basic, but not ultra complicated. What is bluetooth technology? Does anyone really use them? Are they worthwhile?

Thanks for the help! Pray for our troops!!

Couple of quick questions that you should think about before getting a PDA....Are you major computer literate? They aren't hard to operate, but a lot of people buy them and then don't use them because they would rather use their planner.

Do you use MacOS or Windows? I have heard from many Mac people that they like Palm better. I prefer Windows based systems.

How much are you willing to spend?

Personally, I have a Treo 650 cell phone, and use the crap out of it. Hope that helps.

  17. oh i shop at walmart it is the only thing around here.. but i do know for a fact that my sis in law who has worked at wm for 10 years has run into problems many of them but she has stayed there because she has been there for 10 years and can not get to work till 6 pm and no where else will hire her and pay here what she makes ..

i was just asking if people have seen the ads.. i shop there because they are alot cheaper and closer than anything else around here...

they have lay a way no where else does and with 4 kids i can not afford to go a buy 1000 worth of x mas present i need lay a way for that couple of weeks

If you get online and look up "walmart movie" you will find websites that have the information about the new movie that's been made "exposing" Wal-Mart. Many news outlets have taken this "documentary" and used it as the basis for their story. If you are curious about the origin of all the negative press all of the sudden, the origin is nearly always the movie, and if you go look at the website, that is exactly what they are looking to do. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I think it will take more than that for the average person to say, Hey, let's spend more money and go somewhere else to shop. Most people want fair prices and to get their stuff in as few stops as possible. I know I can't stand dragging my family in and out of the car. I miss my Super Target, and Wal-Mart's all we got out here.
  18. anybody that ordered the 349 office depot compaq v2000 laptop on BF, have you recieved it yet? mine has still yet to even ship, very dissapointing. However the free printer has shipped...

I didn't order this deal, but I do know that from several people who have shopped through Office Depot, their shipping is SLOW. You will probably have all of your rebates back from all of the other stores first :curse:
  19. what good are kids if they cant work.. jeeez LOL JOKING!!! in the podunk town i live in... if i didnt go to walmart..i would be hurtin.. so ill never boycott em

You know, but what other company would be employing these children if Wal-Mart wasn't? You cannot try to tell me that there wouldn't be another one of our fine retailers that wouldn't be out doing the same thing. There have been several reports done that show the percentage of our goods that are produced in sweat shops by small children, and the percentage is staggering. Wal-Mart just catches the biggest amount of crap because they are the biggest car for the dogs to chase. If you don't want to buy clothes that came from a sweat shop, then you really need to grow your own materials, weave your own material and sew it yourself, or spend a lot of time researching every item down to your shoes and underwear, because realistically that's where a lot of sweatshop items come from! Personally, I don't agree with it, but at the same time, I realize that Wal-Mart is not the only offender, and many of the people who are doing the reporting are wearing sweat shop shoes, panties or bras, even if they don't shop with the Walton family.
