  1. Okay, Much shorter wait this year:

Last year started at a little before Midnight and waited just before opening at Best Buy:

This year went with my Brother in Law again but didn't have to start as early:

Hit Lowes at 5:07 AM - no - one was in line at the Katy, TX store but there were about 6 cars in the parking lot with people staying warm. Everyone started lining up at 5:15AM was number 6 in line waited till 5:55 doors open was number 12 in line . . . :) figures. . . lol

Got everything I went for and then some:

    Bought:

    Shop-Vac

    14-Gallon 4.5 Peak HP Wet/Dry Vac

    Item #: 314974 Model: 5851511

    $29.99

    BLACK & DECKER

    68" x 26-1/4" x 14-3/4" Multi-Purpose Cabinet

    Item #: 90990 Model: 157059

    $44.98

    Edsal

    72"H x 48"W x 24"D Steel Freestanding Shelving Unit

    Item #: 101933 Model: CR4824

    $44.98

I need an organized Garage, you buy a 50 year old house you would think someone would have left some shelves over the years, but nope not a one in ours. . . :) I think these 2 items will eliminate 2 plywood makeshift benches filled with stuff. . .

Hit Office Depot and ended up with a

Canon Pixma 490 All in One Printer for $29.99

That one replaced a non Windows 7 compatible Scanner for my Brother In Law, had Scanner in hand, but switched to all in one when we realized it was the same price and Windows 7 compatible.

  2. Okay,

So I'm ready to make the plunge to HDTV -

I'm thinking 50" or better 720P probably - What are your thoughts on where that will price out at? Should I shell out the extra bucks for 1080P? . . .

Have already seen a Panasonic and LG for $799 and $809 720P at Sears . . . how low will they go on BF?

Thoughts help suggestions on brand and model! Your experiences?

  3. Brad,

That's true. . . fewer weekends means probably fewer sales overall before Christmas. . . .

    Mistyinca,

I think although Groceries are definitely higher, consumer items, electronics etc. . . have probably held steady especially since the Dollar has rebounded significantly since the economic financial crisis. So I think it is useful to compare overall sales figures for an idea of how things are progressing year over year in a sales environment, although once you go over 10 or 20 years back you need to adjust your numbers for inflation/cost of living etc. . . to look apples to apples I would say.

  4. Bloomberg is reporting that Black Friday drew in the shoppers at least for Black Friday at a 3% jump over last year which posted an 8% jump over 2006. :) At least Black Friday is alive and well and I'm sure all the economist will be watching closely to see if this uptick carries through the Holiday season or is just a momentary jump before the drawback really begins!

Maybe there were enough good deals out there after all?

    Pertinent Excerpt:

U.S. holiday retail sales increased 3 percent yesterday from a year earlier, the smallest gain for a “Black Friday” in three years, research firm ShopperTrak RCT Corp. said.

Sales rose to $10.6 billion, the Chicago-based company said in a statement. The increase was the smallest since a decline of 0.9 percent in 2005 and compares with a jump of 8.3 percent last year.

“So far, so good,” said Craig Johnson, president of Customer Growth Partners LLC, a retail consulting firm based in New Canaan, Connecticut. “But a decent Black Friday figure doesn’t predict the whole season. The question is, how much momentum we can keep” in this “challenging” economic environment, Johnson said.

  5. Definitely use the thread tags, that's very in with blogs and in other places and it seems very user friendly. It sounds like the new SPAM features are a shoe-in to be added. . . :)

Also I like the friends idea and integrated user pages. . . sounds like some good things coming!

  6. We bought the Home Depot 2 in 1 Tool and Work Saw set at Toys R Us with Tools

:) very pleasant experience and the Toys R Us in Longview even verified we had the right item. There were 3 different types of the "Home Depot" branded items and we had the next to last one in stock. $40 marked down from $90 regularly. . . very pleased with that. . . my 18month old will be happy later. . .

  7. Interesting... I don't really see any really slow hops.

    *perplexed*

It's about a half second slower than my tracert? But I agree none of the hops are tremendously slow. Just slower overall. . .

This is still an issue to ask your ISP about stingygrll? Just because other sites are fast, that doesn't mean there isn't something they can do to help you access Gottadeal faster. . .

They can also compare to see if they hit Gottadeal site faster than 900 ms which is what your tracert shows. Mine is about 500 and it seems normal to me.

    (quick fixes I don't have) . . .

  8. Well I think I have it narrowed down to 3 frames...

Ziga 7" TFT Wide Screen Digital Picture Frame

    $159.95

Digital Spectrum MemoryVue MV-800 Digital Frame

    $170.00

WESTINGHOUSE DPF0561 5.6 Inch Digital Photo Frame

    $139.43 and supports USB 1.1

I believe the first two have larger screens but do not know if they support use with the computer (preferably via USB). Does anyone have any experience with these frames or have any insight on their technical specs?

EDIT: I do not think the first two support USB technology and do not yet have a digital camera so I think the last (and cheapest!) frame is my best bet.

Sorry I would have included links to amazon where I found deals on all the frames but received this inconvenient message "You do not have enough posts on the forum yet to include URLs or images in your posts. This is to prevent spam. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please PM an admin if you need a link included in your post." Guess noone can be trusted; even on message boards now:confused:

Yep, Spammers be ware. . . This feature helps keep Spam links to a minimum but has in this case caught an innocent. I don't think the Mods, will mind, I've edited your quotes with the links, Gottadeal ought to redirect with their affilliate link so I think those should be good. . .

Welcome to the forums and nice research. . .
