  1. I know nothing about sewing or sewing machines.   The last time I touched one was my high school home economics class.   :)  My 11 year old daughter is very crafty however, and is expressing interest in learning to sew.  I want to get her a sewing machine for Christmas.  Below are the deals for Black Friday.  I'm wondering, are these good deals?  Which is the best for a beginner?  Her grandmother is getting her some classes at Joanns and some cloth.  Thanks for the advice.

  2. My ds-5 told Santa he wanted a grilled cheese sandwich for christmas. The elves standing around started laughing. He also asked for 99 cars and some other stuff. I'm totally making him one and putting it out too. :)
  3. Round 1

Christmas Vacation - this is so bad, but I've never actually seen miracle on 34th street, but I know the story

Home Alone - I was deciding between this and the muppets or mickey christmas carol :) it was close

A Christmas Story- Elf is nice, but this one is hilarious and according to my husband (and TBS)...a new classic we must watch every year

The Grinch- I like the nightmare before chrsitmas more for halloween

The Santa Clause- I like the family story; I try to save bad santa for when you're burnt out on christmas or mad cause you just saw xmas decorations right after labor day :) it's so cynical.

Scrooged- My kids like polar express, but I think it's just ok. Scrooged is the best. I love the ghost of christmas past, especially when she kicks him.

It's a Wonderful Life- Never seen either actually...I think I need to catch up on my classics. I just figure it's a wonderful life is on every year so I can always catch it later. But I love Family Man with Nicholas Cage which is the same basic story.

White Christmas- I love jingle all the way, because every parent feels like that looking for specific toys for thier kids, but I love white christmas too, so I'm giving the edge to the only movie made before the 70's that I've seen. :)

    Other christmas movies:

    Christmas with the Kranks

    The Nativity Story

    Prancer

Gremlins (I can't go through a christmas season w/o thinking of this movie)

    cartoons should be included too:

    Frosty

    Rudolph

    Charlie Brown Christmas

The year w/o a santa clause

santa claus is coming to town

  4. My DD is 4 and we stocked up on some stuff at the dollar store. We got her some puzzles, coloring book, markers, brush, hair stuff, nail polish, a stuffed animal. We also do the lipsmackers and will probably fill the rest with some fruit, nuts, and a few pieces of candy.

I also have a ds, 2, and his stuff is almost the same, matchbox cars, coloring book, puzzles, crayons, stuffed animal, fruit, nuts, and candy. :)

  5. So I love my SS. I was so excited to get my package today in the mail. Mr DH tried to tell me that I couldn't open them until Christmas, but I opened them amyway. :) I'm not good at waiting. I got a Chicken soup for the soul christmas book, a robe, some chocolates and a flameless candle. Oh, and my kids say thank you as well. They were so excited to know that they got a present as well as mommy. They got some crayola packages and a book called the soldiers night before chrsitmas. I've seen the poem, but I didn't know they made a book about it. My son loved it so much and he asked my husband to read it to him twice before he went to bed. :)
  6. I received my SS on Sat. It was nice. I got a manicure set and a french manicure kit along with an ornament and a chocolate bar. I love the chocolate bar. yummy. :) I haven't gotten a chance to use the nail stuff yet. :( Someone tell my kids mommy needs some alone time to do her nails. :) Thanks again. My stuff was sent out Sat and my ppl should get it soon. I hope they like what I got them, because I tried to get something they like.
  7. So this is probably a stupid question, but here goes it. My husband wants a new tv, but he wants one of the huge ones, like 60 inches. Since most of the deals are for 40something inch tv, I was wondering how much of a difference it makes, and how big of a room would you need to have for it to look good. Also, are the mitsubishi ones good?
  8. Ok, so this may not be new news in your area, but I was in Blockbuster the other day buying movies and they said that the Hollywood Videos are closing this week. They will colse their doors today and then reopen Thursday or Friday to sell out their inventory. Does anyone know if this is just Tampa, or all over? Either way, if you're in Tampa this is a great opportunity to get some movies for cheap later in the week.
  9. I'm so excited! As I gathered all my 4 boxes I received today from Amazon to add with the other gifts we had stashed away, I started to open them and put them in piles when I opened one Amazon box and found an ornament. First I thought " I don't remember buying this" then I checked the address to make sure it was realy for me. Then I saw the paper in the box which said i was from my elf. I'm so excited. It was such a nice surprise to find a gift for me as I wrap the ones for my kids. Thanks to my elf and all the other selfless elves out there. You made my night that much more special.
  10. We never recived byig games systems like the Wii in our family unless they were family gifts. We only got handheld ones that were all ours (actually my brother was the only one who got it and we borrowed his) Anyway, I think you should give him his presents and let him use them during the christmas break and then take them away when school starts until he starts acting right.
