  1. I am self employed so normally there is no bonus for me. This year business was good so the past 2 months I ummm, paid myself. Hey, I deserve it:tongue1: But my DH gets a bonus (they call it holidays not taken pay) the 2nd week of Nov. Usually it averages out to around $1000.

I feel for all of you that work and get nothing as a bonus...esp. when a company is doing good. They wouldn't be where they are without their good employees therefore, they should be rewarded!

  2. OMG! I had one the other night, it was totally freaky. My dreams are always weird anyway, but I was surprised that it was a Black Friday dream. People at work keep rolling their eyes at me cause I can't stop talking about it! :cheesy:

That kills me~same here! They always have the same reply though..."Kel, you need some serious help!"....lol:razz:

  3. Bf shopping was the one day of the year that was just my mom and me. Almost ever year for 15 years. Then my brother's wife started coming which was nice. It was a special day that we spent together. Both Mom and I were big time shoppers. My hubby makes sure it has off the beginning of the year, because he knows it's like a holiday for me and he watches the kids. It's the second year without her and it's not the same. My 15 year old niece comes with me. She's so much fun. My mom's best friend said she would come every year with me as a tribute to my mother. She hates shopping, but loves BF. She recently traded her lease in and told her husband she needed the same car to handle our BF purchases. :)

So sorry about your mom. I am sure she is with you on BF and everyday.

  4. From 2005, hmmm

First it would be spending time with my youngest daughter Bf-ing. Next it would be the nice people in line after us. It was freezing cold outside and sitting out in below 0 weather got to both my daughter and I. Even though we had blankets, etc..the younger guys next to us covered us up with their blankets and ran to their car to get a portable DVD player for my daughter to watch. I have met some awesome people waiting in line.

BUT....I have also met some really mean people once in the store....UGH

  5. BF-ing doesn't ruin it for my daughter. I don't buy for her while shopping. I hope your daughter shops with you again this year. My daughter calls it our BF tradition. She even told her grandma to have Thansgiving dinner enough this year so we have time to come home and prepare for our adventure.:eyepoppin
  6. This is not a poll. Just a thread to express~

With all the excitement of BF, and trust me I am right up there with the rest of you. I use to spend my BF shopping alone and staying in a hotel (yes by myself) like a mini vacation from the kids and DH. But 2 years ago my youngest daughter (now 12) begged to come with me. So, of course with those batting eyelashes I agreed and gave up my vacation. Thinking gosh this stinks. How wrong I was. She stands in below -0 weather with me in the sleet and snow (last year for almost 8 hrs) singing songs and making friends with the people standing next to us. I no longer look at it as losing my vaction but with bonding with my daughter. She is right ontop of the shopping lists and I swear cks GottaDeal more than I do (if that is possible).

This yr will be her 3rd year BF-ing with me. And to tell you the truth, although I love BF spending it with my daughter is awesome!:)

What special meaning does BF hold with you?

  7. Searched and didn't find a thread so I thought I would add/ask this.

How many of you purchase item/items for charity on BF, for the needy?

Personally, I purchase atleast something it may not always be a big items but anything will help.

  8. I'm thinking each person would be supplied with a specific list of items that are on in the BF ads. And after standing in the cold for hours and hours they (maybe 20-30 players) are allowed in the doors to complete the list in the least amount of time. Meanwhile the theme song would be another one bites the dust! With the prize being a timed shopping spree in the store of their choice (listed on BF).
  9. Did anyone else run into this problem at BB on BF?

I got into line at 9:30pm. And man it was below 0~! Anyways, I was 3rd inline. GO ME. After freezing my toes off (yes I did get frostbite rather bad) they came thorugh the line handing out the bid item tickets. And if you weren't there to grab them the sec they came out the door you didn't get the ticket you wanted. I though did get the ticket for the laptop. The gentleman infront of me was passed buy. I felt bad for him! So, then the doors opens and we all rush in. The map they handed us said to go directly RIGHT for the laptop. I did that, to be told that I was in the wrong place by an employee. So I rush to the back of the store where they directed me, to find out I was in the right place to start off with so had to go back to the front to NOW wait in a line for an hr. where if I would of stayed there in the beginning i would of been first! Anyways, I get the laptop that they hand me and the guy asked for my credit card for AOL. I was like huh?? He said I needed to sign up for AOL in order to rec' the sale proce. I argued with him and he got very rude. I tell him the ad did not state an AOL contract was to be signed. He says, "I am sorry, but if you want this laptop you need to sign up for AOL and pay for it here". I whip out the ad and tell him to show me where in the ad it states that...he says the ad dos not have to state it, that I could leave the line. Now this is about 40 mins of standing there arguing with him. And I did not wait in line outside almost 8 hours in the freezing cold to walk away and Heck I did not suffer frost bite to walk away either! So, I ask for a manger, he tells me it will be about 2 hours to speak to one to step to the back of the line. OVER my dead body I say, I will wait here until someone helps me. Finally he walks away to come back and say...I am sorry mam' you don't need to sign the contract it was a misunderstanding. Well, I noticed by now after watching all the others pay and sign for a yr of AOL, that they all were robbed.

Needless to say, I was not only there in line outside for about 8 hrs but inside fighting with them for about 2 more. Why do they feel they can scam us?

Then when I go to pay for the laptop, I pulled out the BBB's and they said I couldn't use them. I had to argue that. They said the BBB"s were not allowed on BF. I pulled out the rules (yes i went prepared) and said show me where it says that. The guy got red in the face...read it, and said it doesn't say it but they were told not to accept them. I Laughed and said well then, let me call my atty and see what he says, and BAM, they took the BBB's.

I realize this is long, but wanted to get my point across and see if any1 else had the same problems.

  10. I belong to a few freecycle groups around me. And I haven't seen anything like this sent my way. Really kinda hope I don't either. Seriously, if it weren't for us buying things on days like this, we wouldn't have to clean out our closets to make room...lol And we wouldn't have as much to recycle. That's my thought!
  11. Alright, to set my own mind at ease I called the Best Buy main office and spoke with them and then I called the local Best Buy in Madison, WI. I did the double calling to make sure of things. Anyways, the laptop at Best Buy is $379. with nothing else to sign up for or AOL or anything else. The gentleman I spoke with was awesome. He told me that if I plan on that laptop or really anything else in the BF ad, that I should plan on being there 6 hours before the doors open. He also told me a little something else for those of you planning on getting a ticket for an item and leaving. He said there is going to be a surprise time limit on claiming the items. So I suggest getting the ticket and staying in line! Just a little FYI for all the Best Buy shoppers;)
  12. But I already have internet, and won't need it for the laptop..so this isn't a better deal for me. Like I said pass me a tissue, not only has walmart let me down..so has Best Buy!:cry2: :cry2:
  13. I am confused! Is the Toshibia laptop that is offered for $379. only that price if I sign up for their internet? Cause it says instant savings...but somewhere on this forum I read it is after signing up for internet through them. is this right? I think I might just start crying. WalMart ad laptop was raised in Wis. And now if this is true for BB ...someone pass me the tissues!:wife:
  14. Being from WI also and yes it is $632/laptop and $492/desktop....I am not shopping at WalMart...grrrr! I sure hope Best Buy isn't like this! That would be my luck to stand inline overnight at BestBuy and have the prices different like WalMart!
