  1. I took my kids last year for the first time. One was 16 the other 8. Never again.

My oldest son (14 at the time) and I went for the first time 2 years ago. Had a blast. My mom and I took him again last year because she was here. My two little ones were left with their daddy for the morning since Friday is his regular day off. This year, I will have to work at noon, so my son (now 16) and I will probably go and be back by 11. We have a blast though. It can be fun going with the older kids (make sure they eat something first.) Sorry your first time wasn't as fun as ours was.

  2. Ugh -- missed it. Had to be out of the house all morning and early part of the afternoon and of course I missed the one thing I was really waiting on. Congrats to those of you who snagged it. Our Wii was stolen in June when we were on vacation (along with the XBox 360 and Playstation 2, but the Wii was the only one I really want to replace, so hoping to get it for Christmas with a good deal.) I'll keep looking and hopefully won't miss out if there's another good deal like that.
  3. Hits:

Son15 -- electronic drum set and GHIII for Wii with 2 guitars

Son6 -- Eyeclops Bionicam (big hit), Batman legos, Alien Maker, Castle legos, and Sansa MP3 player, Leapfrog Tag system.

Daughter3 -- Littlest Pet Shop (big hit), My Little Pony (huge hit), Barbie MP3 (OMG --she has barely stopped listening to it so I could charge it...LOL), camera.

    Misses:

Telescope for DS6 because it has been too cloudy, foggy for him to use.

Walking doll for DD3 -- just not that interested. The pony and LPS are more fun.

And a KodakM893 camera for me that DH bought that took absolutely CRAP pictures. I took it back yesterday and got the M1033. Wished I had waited and gotten the one on sale at Office Max today for $99. I looked at it yesterday at Walmart and decided I didn't want to spend that much extra. For $99, I'd have saved $50...LOL

Other than those few things though, it was a great Christmas for all.

  4. how do these gift certificates work do you have to order any specific amount of fook to apply or is there a limit on how many you can use at a time

The website had information on that I believe. The restaurant I chose said you could only use one gift card per visit (no separate checks). So if you have 2 people or 4 people, you could only use 1 gift card. At least that is the way I read it.

  5. buy.com toll free support phone number is

1-800-800-0800 (according to another website where people complain about Buy.com and the customer service. This phone # was a good customer service number as of 11/10/08). I hope you can get the information you need and that your issue is resolved. Good luck.

  6. Buy.com also has these available :)

  7. Got up at 5:30 and headed out to Target for 6 a.m. What a wonderful experience. It was crowded and a long line, but the store manager walked all the way down the line explaining they had plenty of stock on items and no running was allowed. If anyone had a problem, then please report it to store personnel and the offenders would be escorted out and not allowed to return for the entire weekend. I thought that was great -- no mass rush. They still had a good # of the 26 Inch Westinghouse TV's left when I left at 7:15. I got the XBox 360 +$60 gift card, a Kodak picture frame (which was an impulse buy...LOL) and Littlest Pet Shop for DD. Looked around at some other stuff, but didn't hang around because I had to work today.

I then went to Walmart just to see if it was crazy there, and I had 45 minutes to waste before work...LOL

I managed to get a clickstart game on clearance for $15. I really wanted to get the $45 ripstick for my oldest son, but he was with me and so I wouldn't buy it... he wants a drum set anyway, so I'll hold off and get him that.

Went to work and logged on to see what I could snag while I was at work.

I've done most of my shopping online anyway, but my biggest "get" this year was the Eyeclops Bionicam for $35....that just thrilled me. Now to return the Bionic Eye I got for $24.99...LOL

Overall, a good day! Oh yeah, and I got off work early...plenty of shopping time left. :)

  8. Definitely a reality show.

It would be called "GOTTADEAL MEGASHOPPER MARATHON" and is sort of like Survivor for shoppers with fifteen teams of two chosen from registered Gottadeal members.

The teams would consist of two players with one person finding online only deals and the other team member finding in store only deals with a weekly budget. Their weekly budget would get smaller each week until the final week when they had only $20 to spend.

The game would start out with Brad instructing the players on rules and letting the players choose among themselves who will be the instore purchaser and who will be glued to the computer for online deals. All deals will have to be found on Gottadeal.com ONLY! Players will not be allowed to email or PM other Gottadeal members, but can make posts on the message boards if they find something to post about. There will be spotters from among the moderators who will keep an eye on all contestants to make sure they are only searching GottaDeal.com and that they are following all rules.

Then, each Friday, the team with the best combined deals purchased each week would get a reward (to keep their items) and the losing team would be out of the game. After 12 deals (6 members left), then the game becomes a solo competition with each person trying to find the best deal either online or in store with a lower budget each week until the final competition where they have a budget of only $20 and they have to get the biggest deal for under $20 (including any shipping charges if purchased online). They will have to use their wits in finding coupons for FS, % off, and the biggest sale that final week to be declared the GottaDeal Mega Shopper.

Who will win...who will outwit, outshop, and outlast in the GottaDeal Mega Shopper Marathon? Are you game?

    Then let the deals begin!!!!

(I'll try to come back after work tomorrow and add some graphics, but this is my idea for the show). Thanks Brad and Gottadeal for providing such a great service for us and having such cool contests. )

  9. Question about the Prime: It is for 2-day shipping, correct? So and item sent on NOV 20 and another item sent NOV. 21 -- shouldn't the first one have arrived on NOV 22 and the other one on NOV. 24 (since the 23rd is a Sunday). Both of my orders, one shipped on the 20 and one on the 21, will arrive on Nov. 25th.

I'm just curious if most people actually receive theirs within 2 days or if it is often 3-5 days even with the 2-day prime.

  10. I have tried a few times to buy this at Boscovs and haven't had any luck yet. The first time the website was experiencing problems, and then today it wouldn't let me create an account and without an account I couldn't make a purchase. Anyway, I did find the exact item for $19.99 plus shipping at etoys. Here's the link:

    http://www.etoys.com/Barbie-My-Size-Throne/PID/4840052/ctid/17/INstock/Y/D/

It is also on Amazon for that price, but not sold by Amazon, so shipping is almost $13. Here's the link

    http://www.amazon.com/Mattel-Barbie-Secrets-Throne-Playset/dp/B000PD91N4/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1227416397&sr=8-1

  11. You can order these through Amazon too so if you go and read the reviews on there, it might help you....one review states she found splinters on a few of her logs (which would make you think wood) and then the next reviewer states these are just like the new plastic lincoln logs (good quality) and that their kids love them.

Not sure what to tell you other than I think they are probably pretty good quality (as they weigh a good bit and people on the reviews have recommended getting a rubbermaid-type storage container on wheels for them.)

I ordered a set today and am keeping my fingers crossed that A) there's no lead in them and B) they really are a good quality set for my son and daughter to play with.

  12. What I think is funny is I clicked on "More Buying Choices" just to see the different prices, but at the top of that page, it says:

    Price at a Glance

    List Price: $24.99

    New: from $48.00

So, essentially, it is saying that the Bakugan Battle Pack list price is $25, but everyone is selling them for about twice that.

That amused me for some reason this morning.
