  1. So the prices tomorrow will be 50% off plus extra 10% off, then can you still use the codes..I'm talking about online....

you have to enter a code for the extra 10% off and then there's another code for the 25 off 50 or whatever. I've never been able to use two codes on one order. You'll have to choose.

  2. wish I had a good Kohls story to tell. The check-out lines at two different stores in the Atlanta area wrapped all around the store and met in the middle back by bedding. My sister in law spent almost two hours in line just to pay. My mom and I were at different store, waited 25 minutes and hadn't moved but maybe 5 feet. We gave up. I know Kohls, they'll have another good sale next week. It just wasn't worth it today.
  3. Here's the deal (I think). Stores like BB and especially WM have done price matching in the past, but recently they have gotten smarter. They change the packaging, UPC codes, whatever so they don't have the hassle with a lot of price matching on BF. Maybe some employees don't realize the company's new strategies so they're giving customers faulty information. Who knows? It's silly for us to argue because we know from past years that we all have very different experienes on BF depending on where we are!
  4. For all of you that think you are putting anything on layaway, think again. Walmart has officially closed layaway as of Sunday, and it's company-wide from what I know. They are essentially going to replace layaway with a walmart credit card, like most department and retail stores already do. Just thought I'd give you advance warning...

Yeah thanks. We've been talking about this on here for a couple of months now. :o Most people talking about layaway are ones that already have stuff in there that they want to price match or pay off. There were several threads about this a while back. I won't link them cause we've kinda exhausted that topic

  5. I concur with the statements that WM will price match EXACT items. They get away with saying "no" because they often have things packaged differently for BF. So it may have a different UPC code or something. Like Target having an exclusive on the red iDog, for example. It would be impossible for another store to price match that as an EXACT item. (Or at least that argument could be made)
  6. I would definitely contact someone in a power position if a WM won't price match an exact item. That is their guarantee! As long as it's not BOGO or % off or something like that, of course. I take my ads right to register with me. The cashier can do it right there. All they may need is a CSM to do a quick price override.
  7. we got the colored lights 61/2 ft tree from WM, too. We put it up last night since we'll be away from home the rest of the week. So far it only has some tinsel garland on it, but it looks great! Tonight we'll add the ornaments. It's small and not very full, but I was pleased with how pretty it looks all lit up!:) For $30, it's perfect.
  8. also on top on the 8 deals..they are going to have 70 other slae items...prolly price-matching items?

Here's what I'm wondering about the 70 other sale items. If you look at the blitz adscan there are about 70 items on sale from 5 to 11. So, is that all they're talking about- the early bird items that were already leaked? Or are there 70 more? That article in the OP was from Nov. 17 and the blitz ad wasn't supposed to be officially available until today. WM could have easily been playing dumb about the fact that we already knew about 70 items on sale. I hope I'm wrong, but ...? Well, those 8 items better be really good!

  9. I got the Scene It? games for like $20 a piece. They were marked from 39.99 to 27.99. Then with today's sale it took 20% off that - $22.??. Then I got a code off another thread for 10% off my whole whole order and that took the final price to $20.15. Plus, it was $5 shipping.
  10. "Everybody's seen our circular. They know our prices and we know everybody else's. But then we're going to add special offerings on Thanksgiving day online," he said. "After everyone finishes with the meal, we're going to use [walmart.com] as a channel to unveil special offers that nobody has visibility to yet."

Fleming said the idea was to use this strategy to drive consumers to Wal-Mart stores on Friday. Fleming's presentation was monitored via webcast in New York.

It really looks like the sales will be revealed online, but not necessarily available online. It says right there that they want to get shoppers TO the store.

BTW, I asked the ole ex-hubby about all this. He said they have been planning some kind of online thing all along. It was another one of the points mentioned at that meeting where he (and all of us :smirk: ) found out about the early sales on electronics a few weeks ago. He couldn't really answer the question about whether or not the sale was online only, in-store only, or both.

  11. Target ad is better for me than WM (although I hate admitting that). I just know from years of experience being in the "wal-mart family", that they may get ahold of those prices and make some adjustments to their plan. That's what happened last year with that last minute black and white sheet. Regardless, Target is my first stop this year!
  12. So funny! My mom in Georgia just asked me the same thing this morning. I've never heard of this store but will be shopping with mom in Marietta on BF. I'd like to know about this as well
  13. At my walmart every employee works on black friday, from management down to the maintanence crews. While your not allowed to take items until the sale starts, we are the ones who know where everything is so its a no brainer to grab the item you want and keep it in the back until you have a break to pay for it. Its unlikely you would get in trouble unless you try to take several of one item.

At WM this is called "understocking", and yes, you can technically get in trouble for it. Truth be told, though, you are right that most managers will allow it as long as associates don't take advantage.

  14. I got into it just fine. Just look to the top of the wm specific thread where Brad has the sticky thread about the AD. If you look at that thread, he has a link to the ad scans. Is that what you're doing already? If so, I don't know what's up. It's working fine for me.
  15. Ok, WM people aren't supposed to shop early, but I'm telling you they do. The register works fine and has all the right prices. I should know, I was there at 3 am last year filling up my basket along with several others. Do they get in trouble for stuff like that? YES, if they get caught, and last year they did! So I'm betting that things will be different now. I was at a tiny Hometown store that doesn't have a problem with crowds and riots, so that's probably why management didn't get in too much trouble. Had it been a high volume supercenter...the outcome may have been different.

Don't hang me for admitting that. I'm not totally proud of it:smirk:
