  1. We finally have a list of books that DS needs for his classes. They of course want me to use their bookstore (Barnes & Noble) and if I order now I should be able to get used at 25% off.

Since this is his first year, are there are other places to buy the books from and are they the same? Thanks in advance.

  2. I asked when I was there when the next markdown was. Since the 70% just started on Saturday (advertised for Sunday), she thought probably on Saturday the 14th. There were some more things I wanted, but not bad enough at 70% (will wait for 80%).
  3. I was at Kohls today and found alot bargains around the entire store. All clearance is 70% now. Usually at my Kohls they hang all clearance merchandise, but I found that there was also alot on the shelving. One side only had regular sale merchandise, and the other was 70% off.

Briggs (which is my favorite pants) were only $10.00. I usually end up paying about $25.00 when they are on regular sale.

  4. We got $$ for Christmas and need a new TV. Hubby wanted a 32" Sony. Tweeter had the floor model only for $448.00 with scratches. Sears prices matched, so we got the TV for $440.00.

I stopped at LNT and the clearance was not set up yet. There was nobody shopping today. I didn't see any good sales.

  5. Happy Happy Birthday to everyone.

My son's birthday is December 27. He will be 18. Since day one I have insisted that all packages are wrapped in birthday paper. I have always asked that each gift be seperate as they are for everyone elses birthday and we have a totally huge celebration on the 27th. More people than Christmas. I will continue the tradition as long as possible. I also decorate the house (around the Christmas decorations) with lots of birthday stuff and balloons. If he wants a large present as he did this year (a laptop) he gets it on Christmas and then he knows that the smaller ones on his birthday are because of that that. But I warn him ahead of time when I look at his list.

  6. I ordered 4 items for Christmas on December 5 figuring it would be long enough for their free delivery. Went into panic mode yesterday when they still were not shipped as I need them by December 23. I sent Amazon a e-mail and they advised that the items were shipped, upgraded to overnight delivery free and gave me a $10.00 coupon for future purchases.

They have a customer for life because of their customer service.

  7. To clarify -

I still upgrade the warranty for defects from the manufacturer.

I was very worried about an 18 year old and a laptop and was debating about also buying the accident (spilling, dropping, theft) policy. I got the prices, and called my insurance agent prior to purchasing and found out that the deal was better.

The insurance policy through State Farm does NOT cover defects, hardware or software problems unless it is due to dropping or spillage which is not covered by the manufacturer.

  8. We own our home and I didn't believe it either. This is floater policy though, not attached to my homeowners. Just got the bill in the mail. My policy renewed in September and the extra charge is $6.10 for the laptop. They valued it at $633.00 (I had to send the receipt in) so I guess they took shipping and handling off the purchase price. Even at $30.00 a year it would be good deal over what Dell charges and I don't think they include theft (police report required). But my son goes to college next fall - I think that theft is a real possibility.

  9. I upgraded my warranty on the Dell I purchased, but I thought I pass along a nice savings I received. I did not want to buy the protection plan. I called my State Farm agent and purchased a protection plan on the laptop for $16.00 per year. There minimum policy is $30 per year but since I already had jewelry insured, the minimum was met. It covers dropping it, spilling on it and the biggie theft!!

Check with your insurance agent prior to purchasing any protection plan. I would much rather deal with my insurance agent then a computer company and since with State Farm it is not linked to my homeowners, if I make a claim it will not raise my homeowner rate.
