If I am responsible for someone who gets hurt on my property how can WalMart not be responsible for what happened today? Granted, those who became part of the stampede are also responsible but, as in any situation when something goes wrong, you have to ask, where did it first go wrong?
When people forgot what they learned in kindegarten. Like don't push or shove, don't run in the hallways and be polite.
When did a sale at a store suddenly equate to free reign to act like animals unless given a ticket?

I agree but I bet the lawyers are already talking to the family of the employee...People don't take responsibility for their own actions anymore (okay some of us do, but we seem to have abandoned any concept of right and wrong). There is a sense of entitlement that I don't understand and have tried to keep my children from following in.
I will be waiting to read the news that the family successfully sues walmart over this giving them full blame. Then some of the people who trampled the guy to death get together and sue Walmart for "making" them kill the guy and causing them mental anguish. I can see the headlines now.
-
I hope they sue walmart this is ridiculous:no:
If walmart is sued then they should review cameras and sue the people that actually killed the man.
This mentality of suing establishments for general human faults has got to stop. People need to start taking responsibility for their own actions. I'm sure some of the people that realize they killed that man are right now reasoning to themselves that it is walmarts fault he is dead and not their own. Sad state of humanity.

Bought a cheap game off of Amazon early this morning and went to Garden Ridge at about 6am to look at there christmas stuff. There was no one there and it was so nice to walk around in an empty store on BF and look at everything at a slow pace.
I was so close to going by the Best Buy lines and screaming "What the heck are you waiting in line for?" I just don't get it this year, there is absolutely no deals worth standing in line for and nothing you couldn't have gotten off of amazon or a couple weeks ago cheaper somewhere else.
-
Is there REALLY anything worth buying a ticket for this year? I mean, come on...
-
we dont have one local so we have to do it while in city for BF but yeah it will be a after lunch stop...not a mark on the first round circuit at all
Having worked there I can advise the longer you wait the slimmer your pickings are for the B2G1 deal. If you have specific games you are looking for you need to get in there in a resonable time to get them.

Biggest pet peeve? That people have created the horrible idea of standing in lines Thanksgiving morning just because they are trying to one up each other every year on the hours.
It's just not fun anymore now.
-
This year some boxer shorts and a tshirt. Checking the deals online and then maybe going to Garden Ridge early afternoon.
-
Also, before you whine too much, I can guarantee that BB is saving some of their best deals to be unveiled online right before BF like they did last year, so keep that in mind.
Unfortunately for us the way Black Fridays are now you have to be in line Thanksgiving morning to even get any of the doorbusters. And I am just looking at the ad and saying its not inspiring me at all to stand in line. I'll check out the online deals but there isn't really anything at all i'm seeing so far making me want to stand in line at any store.
-
Wow, BB isn't even worth a passing glance this year.

Anyone hear anything more about that rumored Office Depot 37 inch LCD for 300 bucks?
-
I am so sorry I decided to read this thread.
I hope those that sell or are planning to sell remember what the season is really about and have a change of heart.
Now I am so glad I stay home with my family on BF.
Quoted for the truth. After what happened last year and seeing the support for all this unethical behaviour on BF its really turned me off. I used to want to take the day off, more so then Thanksgiving. I used to have fun looking for the deals and planning my day but now its just turned into a who can get rich quick off it scheme in whatever way possible. Whats maddening is its not even alot of money we are talking about here, but enough to ruin the day of the people immediately behind you in line who waited there probably almost as long as you have.
I give up on BF this year. Im just going to order a TV I need from a shop I found, pretty good deal on it. This is just not worth the hassle of waiting in line the afternoon of Thanksgiving to beat out people who aren't even there for the deals just to make a few bucks.

This just sucks. I had a couple friends that were caught up in the eBay fever last year too and camped out. They were pissed when they found out the stuff they bought weren't raking in the dough on eBay. It's just annoying because I know alot of people were like my friends and didn't realize the stuff on sale wasn't necessarily stuff in high demand like the Wii or Elmo, they were just normal stuff on sale that people, like me, are standing in line to get a deal on. It's not stuff i'm going to eBay for to pay a high price, or hell average price on. I wanted it on sale. I'm not against capitalism for high demand items and can understand (though not approve of) price gouging hot, in demand, limited supply items. Denying people a sale price on an average everyday item just to make, at best, retail value on an item is annoying.
I'm not going to wait all day, I refuse it. If they have an awesome, oh my god, price on a good 42 inch or larger HDTV though i'll go out at around 9 or 10pm and take my chances if there is a line. I don't really think eBayers will be out there for 42 inch or larger TVs to sell, thats quite a hassle. Probably more like my friends and after the cheap laptops.
-
Last year was eBay crazy with the game systems and people thinking they could make a buck on everything. I went to BB at 10pm on thankgiving day and the line was already past the side of the building and into the parking lot so of course I missed out. The next day everything I was looking to get was up on eBay.
Will this be a problem this year? Should I plan on spending my entire Thanksgiving in front of BB? I really need a new TV and have been waiting all year for BF to get a new one.
-
I've been watching ads lately and noticed CC and BB regularly have laptops priced at $400-$500 lately and they aren't bad specs on them. With laptops at these prices without rebates now i'm thinking at least one of them will have a laptop this year between $200 and $300.

You are not throwing your money away. At this point, HD tv looks only marginally better on hdtv compared to edtvs of the same calibar. I would venture at the pace that HD has entered the market, that will be very much the case for at least the next two years until more channels are available and broadcasts are at higher resolutions.
Furthermore, the only thing that could count as a standard tube set that is 42 or 50 inches are older projections, which still take up considerably more space than flat panels. People want a big screen that doesn't take up space, though tubes still have many advantages over all plasmas and lcs (not projections so much though, smaller crts).
15 ft is an exagerration, most people don't sit that far away from their set. But again, you will not see any differences in coloring unless you are comparing an hdtv source with a very high resolution. Up closer, hdtvs look worse than edtvs with standard sources. But coloring is more a product of how quality a model is, not whether it's hd or not.
I don't really see what your disagreement with me was. I never denied that an hdtv plasma will have advantages with high definition sources, but for many consumers this difference simply isn't enough or they don't plan on viewing enough HD sources to justify the large difference in price.
Most dvd sources broadcast at edtv native resolution. There really is no advantage at all with hdtv plasmas when it comes to watching the vast majority of dvds on the market. Nothing plays dvds better than the panny edtvs. Again, the quality of the model is most important not whether its edtv or hdtv. My friend just bought a philips 42 inch plasma hdtv and even he admits that my edtv plays dvds better.
The bottom line is if you generally purchase a medium priced tv every 4 or 5 years, you will be fine with an edtv. If you plan on using tv for much longer than that as your main set (most people just move the lesser tv to a smaller room), you should consider an hdtv now.
Can't agree with you. A couple of years ago I might suggest EDTV to someone, but not now with prices of full HDTV sets as low as they are. Xbox 360 is fully HD compatible and the PS3 with Blu-Ray disc playback comes out just next year. With HD starting to really hit it's stride in both the Cable and Satellite market and HD-DVD and Blu-Ray both launching this coming year (like I said,Playstation 3 will feature BRD playback) it would not be a prudent move to buy a ED TV. Your average consumer does not replace their TV's every 4 years, more like 6 to 8 years and they will be regretting their EDTV purchase come next year. Consumers need to shop smarter and start future proofing themselves better.

My mom wants a Digital Camera and i'm looking really hard at the Kodak one at Circuit City for 180 bucks with the printing dock. Seems to be the best deal out of all of them out there. Problem is as of right now i'm camping out at Best Buy for the 150 buck computer (again, for my mom for christmas), LCD computer monitor and the 26 inch Westinghouse LCD HDTV. How long do you all think the Kodak camera deal will be there? I've never bought a digital camera on BF so I don't know how hot they are and how long they last. Thanks.
-
I'll have my PSP too for movies, music and GTA. Here's hoping for more people in line with PSP's and GTA for some multiplayer action while we wait.

From what i could see, it looked as though the last 2 words in the bottom line is "instant savings". That's what it looks like to me anyway. Anyone else have better eyes?
When I look at it I make out Mail in Rebate in the bottom sentence. Is there anyone out there that can confirm if it's instant savings or mail in rebate and how much? This is pretty important for my planning and where i'm going BF morning.

syntax olevia 26" LT26HVX in circuitcity
price = 500 out the door, no rebate!
upside = cheapest, no rebate, better spec than the compusa model, higher contrast, higher res, better picture quality claimed.
downside = bad for htpc. dificult to get a vid card to output the native res of this lcd (1366 by 768), create alot of trouble connecting via dvi.
I was looking at the westinghouse at BB, I heard this is a very comparable brand also though. I'm not too worried about the PC hookups, i'm pretty use to having to fiddle around with resolutions. My question is are you sure this has no rebates? That is a major deciding factor for me and I can't make out the fine print in the ad enough to see if there is a rebate or not.
-
Need ad scans to make final decisons. Need to see how much and what the rebates are on stuff. If there is no rebate on that Syntex 26 inch LCD HDTV then that is a better deal then the Westinghouse at BB. They are both rated highly from people. No video cards on sale though, and their computer is a little better but need more information and rebates again though for final decison.

(all of this dependant on what Circuit City has by the way)

Circuit City, last year was a let down and I would like to see if they have a cheaper HDTV then BB this year.
-
no one is interested in the 30" insignia from best buy? looks pretty good to me. only $400
I'm extremely interested in it. If the mysterious 26 inch westinghouse doesn't pan out (i'm hoping it's really the 27inch version on their site) I will be picking this one up. The only thing i'm dissappointed in is that it does not have HDMI or DVI. Those are going to be required for HD source display devices later. For instance Blu-ray players and the Playstation 3. They may down conver to 480p but will not display past that on component.
