I got a free one when I signed up for Cox Cable. When I moved a year later I registered it with Comcast. After a year it went flaky so I started renting. Since then I have had 2 more die. We have a lot of lightning around here. I hate paying the rent, but when I start having connection issues I can just carry this box in and get a new one. I do own my own wifi router though.
