  1. I have a Olevia that I bought from Kmart on Thanksgiving day probably 5 years ago that still works great. DH has a Samsung in the man cave that has lasted 3 years so far. DD has a Sansui that santa brought her two years ago that also works great.

We too bought an Olevia at Kmart on Black Friday, 5 to 7 years ago and it is still going great. I think the company is out of business now, but we certainly feel that we have gotten our monies worth.

  2. My BB&B and Kohl's happen to be right next door to each other. I went into BB&B to make sure they had one and the price was $29.99, and they have a $5.00 coupon on their latest mailing. In Kohll's I picked up the ice cream maker, on sale for $47 to $49 and took it back to customer service. I asked if they would match BB&B with the $5 off coupon because I knew that Kohl's was also giving you 15% off. It was the lady at customer service that told me there is a $10 Kohl's coupon out there , but they didn't send it to card holders, and she would give me the $10 off and the 15%. So that is how it worked for me. She also told me that they should be able to do the same thing at the regular cash registers. So on my way out, I saw something else that was $18 and took it to the register. The cashier was reluctant at first but I told her what customer service had told me and she rang it up, took $10 off, and gave me the 15% off too. Also, I had a printout of BB&B's online page that showed the ice cream maker priced at $29.99 (but out of stock online) but I didn't have to use it, the customer service person at Kohl's said she would take my word for it. So it was really quite simple to do. Good luck.
  3. I, too, have noticed that they will take things off the site that I was hoping to purchase. And, then sometimes, I buy something on-line, on sale, and the next week it is even less. I understand that they will give you credit for that, though. I had a really good experience today - I had bought the Shark Steamer a month ago at 20% off, but still paid close to $70. Today Amazon has it for $59.99, so I went into Kohls to see if they would price match. Not only did they price match, but the lady asked if I had a coupon and she gave me an additional 30% off for a total $41.78 for my steamer. I left a happy customer; had no idea that they would do that.
  4. Just looked at the Lowes ad that came out today.. They have the Samsung front load washer & dryer pair for $898.. This beats Sears $999 Black Friday price..

    Washer- WF209ANW

    Dryer- DV209AGW

Gas dryer will be $50 more..

Just be aware that the Sears washer is larger. You need the 4.0 cu. ft. for washing king size comforters.

  5. My washer just died and I thought I would replace both with a high efficiency front load washer and dryer set. I can't figure out which is the best though. There is the Kenmore set for $580, a Samsung HE set for $1000 at Sears. A Whirlpool Duet for $998 at Lowes. I think these are all of the HE front loaders.

Which do you think is the best deal and which is the most reliable and best units, in your opinion? Are they basically comparable? What would you buy? I have heard good things about the Samsung. The cheap kenmore set seemed to get a decent rating too. Not sure about the Whirlpool Duet set. As near as I can tell they are comparable. Am I missing something? :eyepoppin

I am really excited about getting a good washer/dryer and want to get the best value! Also, what are the chances if I get to the stores when they open (but not waiting a long time to open) of getting these different ones, would you say? Which one would I stand the best chances of getting? I was thinking of going to Sears because at least there I would have a second choice also.

    Thanks!

    Susie

Last year I purchased the Samsung washer/dryer that Sears had. I believe it was the weekend before Thanksgiving and they were $800 or $899 for the set (I think Lowe's had them too). I have been very happy with the set. The washer is large enough to wash my king size comforters that I used to have to take to the public laundromat to wash! I liked going with Sears because I used my card and got 12 months interest free (Lowe's did the same thing), but I also got the Sears service agreement so I could get a free check-up, which I just did, and then I have canceled that agreement for a full refund. Don't forget to look for your utility rebates on these. I got $75 from our Electric company and $105 from our Gas company. Good hunting and good luck.

  6. I have been finding them at WalMart, they are coming and going. I have gotten in the habit of stopping on my way into work. A week ago I found the hamsters and then they were all gone. A few days later I found a couple $15.00 accessories and then they were gone. Yesterday, they had the hamsters again but they were gone this morning. But this morning they had the little blankets and beds and carry bag or whatever it is. I passed on those. So, just keep looking and I'm sure you will find them.
  7. I got a similar one last year at the Wal Mart pre-Black Friday sales. It came with Vista and a non-recordable DVD drive. I like it just fine and have had no problems. I like to take it traveling to use in motel rooms for accessing e-mail and watching DVD's. I do have a home desk-top that I use regularly, so this is just for taking back and forth to work and for traveling. I have also used it many times to burn and download music to an MP3 player. I wasn't worried about not having a writable DVD drive, as I can do that at home. Hope this helps.
  8. Thanks Dawn Hill for the post. I was able to get a room last night for a trip in September. I really didn't think it was going to work because you wait for so long for a screen to pop up. I even hit a few wrong keys, but still got the room. Picked a smoking room instead of a non-smoking, so had to go back and reselect. Thanks again for the good deal.
