  1. I think their digital elph line takes much better pictures. Last year we had a big anniversary celebration (:D ) and several friends took pictures. One friend had a new A560 (I think it was the 560- could have been the 550 or 570 though- it was the one that came out last spring), my daughter's S550, my S60 and a Sony. Many shots were taken fairly simultaneously by different people and the picture quality of the A560 was not as good as any of the others.

Look at dpreview or steves-digicams and check out the picture quality for yourself. The digital elphs are great little cameras, can fit in a pocket even, and take fabulous pictures. They will cost a little more than the A550 but I think the picture quality is worth it. Hope I didn't confuse you.

  2. Go to the local Bed bath and put your name on their mailing list...they will send you more coupons than you know what to do with. I guess that's not an immediate help though. However, if you go to the customer service desk and ask nicely, they may give you one to use that day. The 20% off coupons are single use only, but BBB takes multiple coupons per purchase (some limit them to 5, some take as many as you have, and they will always split a purchase if you have lots of coupons). Bed bath is more likely to be nice than lnt in my experience. They take each others un-expired coupons, btw; BBB takes their own expired coupons and LNT takes then for 30 days after expiration in-store. BTW- I think LNT has free shipping over $150 (at least they did) so if you are buying something expensive, then that code posted above should be good for you.

Found these for lnt: 20% off entire order 918200000000 12/28/2005

    20% off entire order 932100000000 02/12/2006

    20% off one item 9440 12/11/2005

You can choose in-store pick-up if you don't qualify for free shipping, but placing the order on-line allows you to use the coupon

  3. Sorry for the late post- for those in the NY area, PCRichard has an HP Pavilion, 15.4" widescreen, brightview display, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB HD, CDRW/DVD, b/g wireless, Celeron M 360 for 449.97. No lines. The laptop is on order- will be in in 1-2 weeks. Here's the only rub- it is 749.97 with a $300 rebate, which will take 2-3 weeks to get. This is a 1 day special- so if you want it, make sure to call and order it tonight. It is the DV4225NR.

Not quite as good as the CC one, and there is a big rebate, but there are no lines, no hassle- and it is available.

Just got back from there- hence the late post.:yelclap:

  4. you guys will love this story- I went to the Hicksville CC and spoke with the manager, requesting a price match on the 42" Sony TV that I had bought less than 2 weeks ago and that is on sale at PCRichards for $220 less. Although their sign states "Price Match Plus If you find a lower price within 30 days we'll refund 110% of the difference Guaranteed" with nothing else- no *, exclusions or anything on the sign, he maintained that it was below their cost and refused to do a price adjustment on an item purchased less than 2 weeks ago.

He was willing to take it back and issue a full refund, including picking it up and the original delivery charges...he'd prefer that, to be stuck now with an open box unit, than to honor his company's stated price match policy...is that unbelievable?!?!

Ultimately, after over an hour on the phone switching from one number to another number (oh- the manager gave me the number for the corporate office at my request, but it was really their off-shore service number...grrrrrrr....)I did reach a customer service representative; after asking to speak to a supervisor, she did ultimately agree to issue a credit. However, their 110% price match policy doesn't include refunding the sales tax paid on the price difference.

All in all, dealing with Circuit City has been a less than pleasant experience and I will not be patronizing them in the future.

  5. We were # 12 and 13 in line...BUT there was no crowd control when giving out the tickets, and we landed up with nothing. I was so angry and spoke to the manager (this was after waiting in the cold from midnight), whose only response was "there's nothing I can do about it." Need less to say, I am VERY angry!
  6. People can be so inconsiderate. We were at CC at midnight, and were number 12 and 13 in line. As soon as the manager came to give out the vouchers, people came out of the woodworks- friends/relatives and we got zilch. We could have gotten an e-machine desktop, but just missed the laptop. First and last BF line for me...
  7. This may be a stupid question, but are all memory cards compatible with all cameras? For instance, I have a Fuji Finepix 2650 that uses an XD card. Will the Sandisk SD card be compatible with it?

    Thanks,

    Pam

No- cameras have a specific card type that they take, depending on the model.
  8. If you run out of space on your memory card, most ships have the ability to download and burn cd's in their photoshop onboard. 2 512 cards tunred out not to be enough for me last summer, and for $20 I was able to download the images from one card and have them burnt onto 2 cd's, and then could reuse the card (they use some proprietary imaging software, so it was put on 2 cd's). Although cards are really cheap nowadays, and you might be able to pick up an extra 512 for not much more that that after rebates.
  9. Then what is the "purpose" of super G- I am confused- I thought it did make Internet surfing faster (not uncommon...); is what you are saying then is that it is useless if you are relying on a built in adaptor in the laptop?

Another question to throw out- what is pre-N (advantages to speed/connectivity)?

I am hooking up a desktop directly into one of the ports of the router (so it is wired) and a laptop wirelessly, which has an integrated wireless adaptor.

    Thanks for your help.
