Employees should not be able to have an advantage over regular customers on doorbuster, or any items on sale. They chose to work retail and all of the positives and negatives that come with it.

Being able to grab an item before you can is truly a positive with that mindset. I'll take it.

If you want to get really nitpicky, Kmart hasn't officially pricematched since Januray 14, 2002. But individual stores or even manager will if you complain enough. If they still refuse, keep this date in mind. It's not a new policy.

If the employee is single or has no family, they are shut out if they're working that shift completely. That's also unfortunate.

 

I am sorry...I don't understand what this has to do with BF?? I have worked MANY BF and was/am married with children and lots of family! All jobs have drawbacks. Thats why I have made a choice to NOT work in retail anymore!

 

I meant that they might not have the ability to have someone else wait in line there for them. Therefore, they're shut out on getting access to the same deals everyone else gets.

When I worked at Target, employees who were scheduled to work in the morning were allowed to grab up anything they wanted, put them in the office, then purchase them on break or lunch for the deals. I thought this was unfair to those people who waited in line for hours.

Tough for those who have to wait in line. It's a perk if the company (or particular store) lets you do it. You don't work there, and until the advent of this and other sites, only a select few management or ad handlers got the early up on what would be on sale for Black Friday.

 

Now that it can be seen as fair game for ads to become public knowledge weeks in advance, even the associates have to battle for items as well.

 

If you're willing to wait 6 hours for a store to open for a laptop or even choice power tools, you're better than I am in that respect. If I manage to tuck one away for myself, again, it's a perk.

 

You'll get to hit several stores and wait in many lines. I'm stuck there working on year 6 of not getting to partake in doing the same. If the cost of that hassle is a nice little drill for $10that you don't get...that's even better.

 

Don't get me wrong. If wherever an employee works has to work has to find someone to stand in the line for hours because they have to be fair, I could see where people could agree. Got to Target at 4am, opened at 6.

In and out in 2 minutes and 25 seconds. Amazing. Meanwhile four people connected at an intersection in their and flipped their carts. Fun.
