  1. my kids are 19 and 29 mos and im guestimating about 200 per kid including everything i got from amazon w/ gc's i earned there and i think i actually spent more of the amazon money on my dh this year than on the toys.....and im done....no more buying till next christmas as i have stuff set aside for each of their next birthdays from the sales etc....they will each get one "big" deal and then multiple smaller things in their stockings and wrapped either from santa or from us...

my mom always went overboard for christmas and b days and i have done too much i fear as well i dont want them to come to me in ten years feeling entitled to a laptop or an ipod. it made me ill to see the guy who got two laptops in front of me at CC when he said one was for his 6 yo....but then some rules i plan for my kids are pretty dark ages....phones and tvs in their rooms when they can pay for them themselves. no car unless they help their dad rebuild one and earn it with their sweat equity and earn their insurance from me by keeping up their gpa.

i just dont get some of it....the technology we have is great and a wonderful thing but at the same time i dont want them to be so connected electronically that they dont appreciate the world around us and the fact that there are people who dont have anything....

  2. i like that target doesnt do door busters they were still fully stocked on everything when we went this afternoon and i was able to get the candyland game i couldnt find yesterday...they had all the movies and cds on our list the only issue i saw was their shopping carts moved sluggishly in the huge throngs of people...

CC sucked, and i dont know if i will plan anything that is a door buster ever again

  3. i actually had a good wal mart experience....i did CC first and target and discovered upon exiting CC that i had a nail in my tire and was losing air so went to wal mart and got it fixed while we shopped...we were in there over an hour moslty in toys and junk they had TONS of CPK and were still 40-50 of them there today when i went by

they also had plenty of little people noah sets but not the zoos which was fine the zoo they have now is waaay better....they did say it was like a zoo in the early am when they had the electronics etc but all in all it was very pleasant

  4. I would never have believed this sort of thing actually happens if I didn't read it here. People that return used junk,

I was co mgr of a million dollar plus womens store and you wouldnt believe the things people try to return like the worn prom dress w/ very prominent deoderant stains and a cigarette burn in the rear area....lady says to me...but my daughter never got to wear it her boyfriend broke up w/ her 2 days before the prom....me- ok then so what are these stains under the arms...her- it must have been like that when we bought it me- and the cigarette burn? her- thats not what that is

me- im sorry but i cannot take a return that isnt in sellable condition if the damage isnt a fault of the manufacturer etc....

her- are you saying im a liar?

ive seen it all people who got mad they werent allowed x items in dressing room pulling mirrors down, using dressing rooms like they were restrooms/diaper genies

i appreciate every time i go shopping that im no longer working...lol

  5. I took dd with me and was in line at 4am this morning, but we were right at the door that was open and the heater was cranking! She was bundled up like the little kid in a Christmas story and was quite warm actually!! But she's also not a newborn, she's 20 months old! If it were too cold, and nowhere warm for her, then I possibly would have waited to go shopping. I tried for a sitter for the last 2 weeks, none was available and dh is in Iraq! :) It was also peaceful at the px this morning, I missed the Walmart rush, so she wasn't in harms way! But I also saw little kids in their jammies, nothing else in 40* weather and only like 2 smaller babies..but that was later in the day!

tell your hubby thank you....and i completely understand the no sitter thing....i had one friday only because parents came for holiday...my DH is a truck driver and only home a few days a month and we live so far out of town a sitter is usually counter productive

    good luck

  6. thanks for the link. well i was looking today (my dw was) and she said to get broad band it was going to cost 600. hook up fee then 60.00 a month?

    thanks again for the link:yay:

that is what it costs us for satellite internet w/ direct Tv....havent heard of any others this costly but we live in the boonies....and i mean the real boonies there is not a dial up available its all long distance and that seems to piss off SBC ....so it was going to cost me around 90 a month for extra phone line long distance and internet so we went w/ satellite
