  1. they all dehydrate.  so can your toaster oven.  so can your oven.  basically, anything that can be run at 165 degrees Fahrenheit can dehydrate.  The dedicated dryers do it for $0.03 per hour.  a 1550w ninja will be a star on your electric bill.

my concern about your kids using one of these would be the nonstick surfaces.  you will need to impress upon them the need to use great care in cleaning the surfaces.  that said, the Cooks Essentials 5.3 qt is really easy to clean.

another thing i like about the CE fryer is the controls.  while there are presets, i generally hit power, plus or minus to the right temp and plus or minus to the right temp.  if you remove to shake, flip, or simply inspect, and reinsert the drawer, it picks up where it left off.

you have had your hands on the ninja.  if you like it, buy it.  if it doesn't meet expectations, return it.

Thank you for all the information.  While I know I can dehydrate in my oven, my main objectives are to contain the mess and motivate my kids.

I think an air fryer may just do both!  I have decided on the Philips since it's the best reviewed.

  2. I want one for my kids so they can make their own lunches without dirtying the stove or microwave.

Since I got a Keurig, they make their own tea and hot chocolate without asking me to do it for them.

So, I'm hoping the air fryer will make them a bit more independent in the kitchen.

The Ninja can also dehydrate, which I thought was cool.

The Philips is top rated, so that's why I'm considering it.

I liked the Ninja from what I saw at the store.  It wasn't as bulky as the Philips, and the tray seemed a bit more substantial, it easily came out and clicked into place than the other fryers.

  3. Has anyone purchased an actual physical item from Groupon? Wondering if the items that are received are legit brands or if there are issues with knock offs. Also, what are the shipping timeframes like? I’ve only ever gotten tickets and discounted events or meals through them before so I was hoping other people could chime in with their experiences.

Years ago, I bought my son a PS Vita.  It was brand new, came in the original box and still works.

I think I bought a Kohls coupon once.  I never had a problem with Groupon, but I've only ordered a couple of times.

  4. Did anyone happen to order BBT from Target??

I just received it and it's not in the cardboard sleeve as the previous ones were; it's not in any type of shrink wrap and the case isn't even taped.  The discs look okay, but the case looks used.

  5. This is a hard one.  I'm going to be ordering only one or two items from multiple stores.  No one store really stood out for me.  I don't need a TV or any appliances or anything that most ads have.

I think if the ads were better, I would be more enticed to buy things I otherwise wouldn't.  I think it speaks volumes that I won't be exceeding my budget this year, or even spending all of it.

  6. Does anyone have, or are they considering, a 3-d printer? I know they can be extremely expensive, but if I can find a reputable one for under $200, I'll consider it.

I was looking into them a couple years ago.  From what I remember, the more budget friendly printers only take one type of filament, which is costly.  So, that's one thing to research before purchasing.  Kind of like ink printers - the more expensive printer up front, will have more reasonably priced ink and the inexpensive printers up front will have more expensive ink to replace.

  7. I was curious about the VR for the PS4.  There is a second version of the VR.  So, maybe the first version is what you are seeing as being discontinued.  I would be curious what the version that's on sale for BF.  I can't see the model number in the picture; it's way too blurry.  I think I'm headed in that direction instead of the Oculus.  He also said that he read that the VR will be compatible with the PS5 when it's released.

Ah.  I just saw all of the discontinued bundles on Amazon.  So, there's two versions of the VR?  Anyone know what version is in the Target ad??  Would they sell a discontinued item on BF??

  8. What is a weighted blanket?

It's a heavy blanket that has weights sewn into it.  It helps a wide range of issues from people who have trouble sleeping, to children with special needs or just people who find them comfortable.  My son has anxiety and has a terrible time sleeping.  The blanket calms him down.  The general rule is to buy a blanket that is 10% of your body weight.

  9. My 12 year old wants an HTC Vive, um, no, I don't think so!

But the Oculus Go at $199 is doable.

Question - due to the price difference, I'm assuming the Oculus Go is very limited, correct?  He would want to play games primarily.

Thinking that perhaps the VR for playstation may be the better route, but I read that has been discontinued, so thinking that may not be a wise choice after all.

This is also for a boy who is prone to breaking things, so durability would have to be a main factor!

Are there any other VR headsets out there that are both affordable and have a good selection of games??

Any thoughts on whether we'll see deals for any of the above mentioned VR sets??

  10. Yes.  After 4 phone calls and multiple chats online, it was determined that my order was lost.  While they did ship a replacement, I was charged again and not at the sale price!  It's a mess!  I've now paid about $65 for two bags of dog food!

  11. I ordered an item online and received notification that the item was shipped, but that was on the 23rd.  UPS is saying they never received the item.  Tracking just shows shipping label created on the 23rd.  Anyone else having an issue with Target??
