  1. I'm the same. Years past I'd have a 3 page list (with pictures) for my family to pick from.

This year I can barely come up with anything. I actually told my dad, socks. His response was to laugh.

But I don't really need anything, plus I'm in the process of clearing out stuff I don't use or need.

    So for me...

    Socks

    Slippers

    CVS gift card

    Starbucks gift card

    Mugs with lids

    Old navy gift card

  2. Not a true BF deal but it is on sale right now for...

    $88, originally $180 for the 11.5" https://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Galileo-Pro-11-5-32GB-2-in-1-Tablet-with-Keyboard-Case-Android-OS-Blue-RCT6513W87DK/53990884

    Or $80, originally $130 for the 10.1" https://www.walmart.com/ip/RCA-Viking-Pro-10-1-Android-2-in-1-Tablet-32GB-Quad-Core/45804391?athcpid=45804391&athpgid=athenaItemPage&athcgid=null&athznid=PWVUB&athieid=v0&athstid=CS004&athguid=09c0205a-8ff-16e8d24cabcd18&athancid=null&athena=true

You mentioned that you would need to teach your father in law how to use the tablet.

My dad had the 10.1" model and loved it. (It met a sad end a couple months ago from being knocked off the table & into the metal table legs.) He found it very easy to use, and I didn't have to show him how to use it 5 million times.

In comparison he's had Android phones for 7 years, the current one for just over 2 years, & I still sometimes have to show him how to un-mute his phone.

He's getting the 11.5" for Christmas this year, & I ordered one for myself too. (This time it won't be able to be knocked it into the metal table legs since now the frame has padded covers over the metal legs.)

Compared to the Samsung Tab A in the sales, it is a slower tablet, has lower quality cameras, and can not hold as much expanded memory (micro SD card).

The 11.5" can take a 128gb micro SD

The 10.1" can take a 32gb micro SD

Whereas the current model Tab A can take a 512gb micro SD.

But for a simple Android they perform well, are a good price, and are easy to use.

  3. When I was a kid, my mom put things in my stocking that "would keep me busy".

I was allowed to open and play with anything in my stocking til my parents woke up, Little toys, cards, puzzle books, ect.

One memorable year there was a Tamagotchi (my mother regretted that), but normally it was things that would keep me busy (& quiet) for a few hours.

There was usually also a couple pieces of candy, & a couple snacks so I wasn't a little starving monster when my parents got up.

Also I'd wake up Christmas morning to my stocking filled on the foot of my bed. (Easier to keep me quiet I guess.

  4. My family growing up was small so pictures weren't an issue.

But a good friend of mine did family pictures with 3 generations each Christmas. Her grandparents, her parents, her siblings, her mom's 3 siblings, their spouses, and she had 7 or 8 cousins. Anyway it was a lot of people to "match".

They had a simple "fancy" dress code. Black pants (or skirts for women), white button tops (if they'll be seen), and either a red or green sweater (plain no design). For little girls dresses were ok in either all red or all green. Little babies were also either all red or all green.

The photos always looked great. And the clothes could be worn not just for pictures.

  6. I have several neices but on is eight and two more are nine. They both like the rubber band looms, they aren't too hard for her to do on her own. Also Walmart has little direction books for bracelets and charms. They also have big packs of bands in multiple colors. Also there are knitting kits that she might like as well.

Edited: because I'm forgetting my neices ages.

  7. So my toaster broke about a month ago. My kurig and my blender both broke about two weeks ago. My friend accidentally took my crockpot when she moved. And my microwave needs to be replaced as well.

It's ironic that all of this is happening right before Black Friday, but at least I'll be able to replace them at a good price.

Anyone else having to replace a bunch of things this year?

  8. My MIL is difficult to buy for because she is not into fashion, makeup, perfumes, collectibles and cannot travel to go to events because she is a caretaker to her sister. I hate to buy her the same things every year or buy her one of her vices (lotto or smoking, yuck.). I'm thinking about new kitchen items for her, as she does like to cook and bake. DH & I struggle every birthday and Christmas buying for her though.

if she loves to bake what about gifting her one of craftsy' s Wilton classes? They also have several cooking classes.
