  1. I am rural. Our WM was absolutely nuts. The parking lot was full, people were parking across street, in grass, etc.. There were no carts by 9:30. I got lucky and some friends leaving gave me a cart. If you were not standing near the display at 10pm, you most likely didn't get it. Usually the cheapy food grinder is left over for days after BF, this year they were all gone. Sheets gone in minutes. I only got a few household items, most things on my list were gone before I got to them. I think it is the 10pm time, many kids and people who wouldn't get up early were there this time. I've BF shopped that WM for many years and never seen anything like this.

these are 2/$20 at TRU but sold out almost immediately.

  3. I've done the party. We only took 4 children total so didn't schedule with them. The kids had a blast, the help in store was awful and I way over spent what I had planned.

When I sent the invitations I noted how much each child would get to spend and told parents they could send extra if they chose but it wasn't required. All kids brought $10 to $20 extra, except one girl, so I ended up paying a bit more so she had a nice animal too.

Long story short, it was a terrible visit but that was just due to really bad employees and BAB sent me a gift certificate when I complained. I'd do the party again, but never at the store we visited and I'd be more firm in the limit I would spend on each child.

I saw a link for a coupon at Justice.com last night too.

  4. Love the Turkey Cheese ball, I am so making that!

Here is an appetizer that our family cannot do without each year. Pop it into a crock pot and take anywhere. I'd double the recipe at minimum, as this will be a hit with kids and adults. Don't worry, the alcohol in the beer cooks off and just leaves a wonderful flavor.

    Beer Balls

1lb hamburger (can use cocktail wienies)

    1/2 C Beer

    2 Tbls Worcester Sauce

    2 Tbls Wine Vinegar

    1/2 C Catsup

    2 Tbls Sugar

    Garlic Salt to taste

Roll hamburger into small balls. Fry balls until browned (can also bake in oven).

Combine everything but hamburger balls in large saucepan. Simmer sauce for 15 mins. Add balls to sauce and simmer for 2 hours.

Highly recommend making your own hamburger balls, the store bought, pre-made balls don't taste as good in this.

  5. Bah, the only reason the WM sales were down on BF is because the sales they offered were terrible. I only spent about 10% of what I did in '05 at WM, how about you?

The talking heads can pick it apart and analyze it all they want, but the simple truth is, if you don't offer great deals on BF people will shop elsewhere.
