  1. We've been in line since 9:30pm last night, was 30 degrees overnight, and 2 people just showed up tonight at 8:00pm with the rationale that they should be allowed in front of us because they are "with" the people ahead of us. Does anyone have any experience reporting situations like this to Best Buy employees and how do they handle it?
  2. I need to get one of the $299 Toshiba 50" TVs. Kids swim team is having a Tricky Tray and we want it for a raffle.

Also getting DH the Canon T3i camera bundle. Of course there are none in the store so it will have to be ordered. Hoping it will come up online before 8pm tomorrow night.

Saw the Panasonic Plasma 50" doorbuster that is for 4am Friday morning...

I'm in line. 5th family. And just got word that there will be 25 of the 40" toshiba tv. Looks like I'm a shoe in to get one

I hope they have 25 of the laptops and tablets too. It's been a long night & I hope 15th in line holds up. Second in line even has one of those trailers, and first has a generator and heater in their tent! But alas all I have is my chair and plenty to do that I can't do because I'm too chilled to the bone. Can't wait til sunrise!

I would add there are 17 in line here now, 2 more showed up at midnight.

  3. Just got this list from Amazon:

The Lenovo 15.6" - does anyone know when this deal will go live on Amazon? I am trying to get the same laptop at Best Buy but I'd love to be able to go to Amazon as a backup if I didn't get in line early enough to get a ticket. I'm getting in line tonight 10pm but there are already 3 people camped out so I'm getting worried! I know Amazon has lightning deals that are temporary so I'm hoping this one is during the day Friday after I'm done out in line and shopping.

  4. I wish we had family here to gather with. Everyone is too far away and it'd be too expensive for the whole family to travel. We just keep it laid back and don't even bother with a turkey though I cook turkey in some form.

Both my family and my fiance's family are out of state and too far. I'll be in line at Best Buy on Thanksgiving and for Christmas we are spending Christmas and Christmas Eve here with the kids and then going to Atlantic City for 3 days. It has been many years since I've seen my family on the holidays. I will cook a big Thanksgiving dinner next week, but it won't be "on" Thanksgiving.

  5. Lottery scratchers, candy, $5 gift card. Anything else I can think of wouldn't be good quality for that little money and not worth it. Once you go $5-$10 you have more options, flash drive, good umbrella or flashlight (good backup of those always handy), etc. If someone asked what I wanted for $5 I'd say $5 iTunes or PSN card.
  6. I am also taking a first timer: my teenage daughter. She is begging to go! I don't know if she will be glad she came when she is "in the thick of it" but we shall see. I told her, if she goes she is committed. I actually think she's going to enjoy it and it's going to be a tradition. She won't like being in line, I don't either, but the thrill of meeting the challenge, scoring the deals, and shopping is worth it. I will treat her to a good hot breakfast out when we're done shopping which she will love too. We will not be splitting up at all except to use a bathroom.

I would say treat your newbie to a good hot breakfast afterwards. Bring entertainment and snacks and a folding chair if you will be in line. And make sure you are both dressed warmly in layers. Hopefully the great deals and thrill of the challenge will win your newbie over!

  7. Changed my plans! Went on Amazon Monday night and found 2 amazing video game deals. Went online for the Best Buy Premier Silver sale and got 2 video games, and a controller and headset for the PS3 at Black Friday prices. Went online on Kohls this morning, since I heard BankAmericardDeals is doing 15 percent cash back right now, and got the George Forman Jumbo Grill, a Homedics noise machine my fiance needs to sleep, and a big snowflake throw. Am also getting $15 Kohls cash via email. Free shipping on all of the above! Still going to get in line at Best Buy Wednesday night by 10pm for the Galaxy 2 tablet, Samsung laptop, and Lenovo laptop (BUT the good news is after I get my ticket items (crossing fingers) I can move on to the next store instead of fighting the mob for the video game stuff since I already got it!) After Best Buy going to Victorias Secret to try for the tote bag. Aeropostale after that. And I have added Kohls to the list if I have any money left in case anything else strikes my fancy besides what I already picked up online. I am excited beyond belief and unbelievably nervous about being able to get in line in time at Best Buy since I have to work tonight. I'd be in line already if I didn't.

Oops almost forgot - Amazon when I get home!

  8. I don't see a problem with people lining up extra early. I mean, I think it's crazy and I wouldn't do it but if thier crazy enough to do it then go for it. It's not hurting anyone. And if people think it's causing them to miss out on a deal, well then get your butts up and go get in line.

I would if I didn't have to work. I'm going the second I get out of work Wednesday night. I'd already be in line now if it weren't for that.

  9. Thanks for the tips. I'll check on whether BankAmericard deals works online. I'd love to score the jumbo George Forman grill. Other than that just miscellaneous clothes, decorations, and a homedics noise machine fiancé needs to sleep. Glad it's tonight not tomorrow night - ill be at work and then in line!
  10. these sales are awful. Generally I can at least score with the toys for my 6 year old but not this year, very disappointing. I'm just going to hit up the ABC store...

Virginia's ABC stores are getting in the holiday spirit this Black Friday.

The stores will offer discounts up to 50 percent off on selected items, and shopper also will receive 10 percent off any purchase totaling more than $50. That is the only good sale I see.

Thanks for that info! I live in Fredericksburg and will have to add the ABC store to my agenda!

  11. we will probably be spending less. the past few years we have done a trip over christmas or shortly after the holiday. no trip planned = less money spent this year, which i should be happy about. but, im really hoping we can plan a trip within the next few weeks!

My fiancé and I are going to Atlantic City for 3 days after Christmas. Room and meals comped because of my play last summer so just need some money to play. Want to help the economy after the hurricane as a charitable act!

  12. Less. The only adult I'm doing store bought for this year is my fiancé, and less than $100 instead of the usual over $200 I spend on significant others. The other adults are getting baked goods - I won't even do crafts this year because the craft supplies cost more than I expected last year. As for the kids they will be getting a little bit less than usual, about $100-$125 per kid. I am camping at Best Buy to help get better gifts with less money.
  13. I'm going with one bigger thing to share plus one extra for my kids who are here and same arrangement for the two with my ex. So there will be less this year. The real cutback though will be with adults - all baked goods only. Not even crafts - I did that last year and the supplies cost a lot more than I expected! I will buy gifts for fiancé but less than $100 - and I am someone who used to spend over $200 on significant other every year. I am also camping on Black Friday to save money!
  14. I usually do the day after Black Friday. I might even do the day before this year. It's a lot of work putting them up and taking them down and I want to enjoy them as long as possible. I'm in the holiday spirit already thinking about Black Friday so why not! I think if I was serving Thanksgiving dinner instead of camping I'd wait until after Friday - Christmas decorations aren't something I am used to associating with Thanksgiving. I used to wait until the first weekend of December but that was several years ago.
