  1. Well in West TN it wasn’t totality but about 98-99%.  Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take the day off to head back to Arkansas where I used to live to be in totality.  Near totality was pretty cool though.  It got dusky and eerie at the same time and the temperature definitely dropped.  Hope I’m still alive in 20 years when the next total solar will cut through Arkansas.

  2. Finally got some actual spring temps down here.  Winter and summer have been fighting the last few weeks with cold days then not days then back to cold. Apparently it’s too much to ask for nice mild spring temps anymore.  LOL.  Tulips are at their peak and my azaleas have a few blooms on them.  My knockout roses are growing back after being trimmed back to the ground earlier.  All this to say the pollen is making me cranky and miserable.

  3. Happy March everyone!  For the first time in a bit it came in like a lamb here instead of a lion, although it’s too warm for me to be early March.  As per usual we skip right over highs in the 60’s and go straight to the upper 70’s and even an 80 scattered here and there.  You would think I would be used to it by now but dang it I’m not.  LOL

Hello all!  Sorry I haven't been around. Just checking in. As many of you know Mom is been ill since the holidays with a fib.  Unfortunately After battling for over 2 months Her body just couldn't take it anymore. She passed a couple of weeks ago. Just starting to get caught up on things now. Will get secret Santa gifts out shortly.

Oh goodness. I am so very sorry to hear this!

  5. I have a snow day today! We got hit hard (for the South) with snow Sunday and Monday.  Ended up with 5 inches of snow and it is brutally cold.  Single digit temps at night and not above 20 for a high the last 2 days.  Crazy for Memphis and way too cold for me.  We might get some ice Thursday on top of the snow.  Ugh.

I bought a house this year for the first time so I'm still "filling in the blanks" for various house needs. That said, gift budget will be same/maybe slightly smaller, depending on what all other stuff I end up buying for the house. Honestly, I often spend the most on my SS gift for the exchange here on the forums (yes, we have a minimum but darned if I don't blow right by that most of the time LOL). (Shameless plug: If you haven't yet joined in the fun, try it out this year! Always such a good time seeing what everyone gets!)

I am watching for sales/deals on various things I have my eye on, though.

I blow right by that minimum for our Secret Santa gift too! It makes me so happy to participate.

  9. Happy December!  Had some heavy duty oral surgery Thursday so I’ve been down for the count all weekend, existing on jello, pudding and mashed potatoes.  Through the haze of Rx pain meds I think I have  finished shopping for gifts thanks to Amazon. Now to wait on it all to arrive and go through it…….said haze may have caused some interesting choices to be made.  LOL.

  10. I decided today to go to the local Walmart here where I am for the weekend to check things out.  It appeared to be quite the lackluster Black Friday for them this year.  Lots of things left including a pallet full of Rubbermaid containers and the Gourmia air fryers.  They even had lots of the towels left.  I picked up a copy of Pioneer Woman cookbook and was able to still order her fry pan for pickup today at a store in TN. I will pick it up tomorrow.

Our first stop at 6:00 this morning was a regional store called Atwood's. It's kind of like Tractor Supply. Anyway, they weren't quite as busy as they used to be on BF, but they were pretty busy. However, for the first time ever, I think, we didn't buy anything there. They are usually at least good for some cheap plaid lounge pants. We were there to look at a Wrangler purse, but a better one could be found online and at a cheaper price.

Our next stop was Target. We couldn't find one specific toy we wanted, even though the app said there were 5 of them in store. So I ordered it on my phone and hoped the associates would have better luck than we did. I think the only thing I bought there other than that toy was socks. Now, to be fair, I went to Target on Sunday when their sale started and bought quite a few toys and a Switch game. When we got to the checkout, I told my niece "this is just sad". It was Black Friday morning and there were only 4 registers open. And there weren't any lines at any of them.

We went down to road to Academy, which is another store that's always good for an impulse buy or 2, but all I picked up was a Billy Bass ornament that I couldn't quit laughing at.  Again, they were busy, but not crowded. We didn't have to wait in line to check out.  By the time we were out of there, the Target heroes had found the toy and it was ready to pick up. Man, I am not a big Target shopper, but their pick up beats Walmart all to...

Target pickup absolutely beats Walmart all to h**l.  I do it all the time.
