  1. A bit off topic but in the last few days I've gone to the Target twice and in those two trips I saw four different new employees. All four of them had the "new team member" badges and the only thing that crossed my mind was "remember their faces and avoid them like the plague on Friday..." I know it sounds bad but there is nothing worse than a cashier with a "deer in the headlights" expression. I understand retailers hire seasonal workers but on BF I need to be in and out!

    :yup:

I went to Target last night and saw a group of about 20 with matching clothes, it looked like they were giving them the company tour because they walked through electronics and then to the back where they keep the merchandise. They all looked

  2. I went to target last night, as I was walking by the electronics dept, I saw a lady come out the back where they keep the merchandise and asked her if she had that item (DPCI: 008-09-0740) in stock. She looked it up in her little portable thingamabobber and said that number did not come up, so she asked me what it was and I told her it was a 40" Westinghouse TV. She did a search again and said the only thing that came up was a 32" and a 42" not the 40" so I told her thanks but being the hardheaded person that I am I went to the electronics service desk and asked if they had it in stock again. This lady typed it in her computer and gave me a look and said where did you get this #? I told her a friend gave it to me, she said those will not be available until the sale, and I said but you have them in stock? she said that even if they were in stock they could not sell them to me, until that day. :tongue1: So that was my adventure last night BTW this is my first post Whoot!

    *UPDATE*

Hey guys I just wanted to give a quick update, maybe it might help someone out. I went to a different Target store last night to the "Guest Service" desk and told them I wanted to check inventory on (DPCI: 008-09-0740) the lady typed the number in, then she then called another girl over they both stared at the monitor for a little bit and one of the girls pointed at the monitor, (I thought she was going to say I could not get it until Friday) but much to my surprise she said they had 8 in stock. I asked if I could get one, but she said that I had to go to the electronics dept and tell them to bring one out. So I went there and handed the DPCI # to the guy working and asked him if he could bring it out, he typed the number in his portable computer and said it came up as not in stock. I told him that I had just talked to Guest Services and that there were 8 in stock, so he called the back with his walkie-talkie and gave them the number and sure enough they brought it out. The weirdest thing was that he asked me “just one?” like he was surprised I was only getting one. Anyway, I paid the $550 plus tax and they even helped me carry out to my car. Now that’s what I call customer service! So on Friday I will stop by Target after the crowd is gone and I’ll just get the price adjusted.

So even if you guys were told “no” by one store it might still be possible to go to a different store and get the westy. I think the thing that helped me was that I went to guest services and confirmed that the item was in inventory, that way if the electronics dept says they don’t know if the item is in stock you can tell them that guest services confirmed it is. I guess it just depends on your local Target store, anyway good luck and Happy Thanksgiving! :D

  3. My son is 12 years old and the only thing he wants for Christmas is a ping pong table. I looked online at a wide variety of stores, but have no idea what I'm looking for. It seems that most indoor tables are 5/8", with the more expensive ones closer to a full inch. I guess this is for warping issues? How important is the thickness? Do I need more than 5/8"? We will leave the table set up all the time in the basement.

Also I can't see how buying online would be cost effective because all the sites I find a good deal on a table then tack on $150 to deliver it. I would rather pick it up locally. Sears, Dick's Sporting Goods, Target, Walmart, etc. if I have to pay so much to ship it.

I was thinking of spending around $300. Can I get a good table for that?

Anyone have any opinions about it that might be helpful? I sure would appreciate some guidance. Thanks!

    Kelram,

From what I've read the thicker the table top the more consistent/truer bounce, so tournament tables use 1" tops. You can get the following 3/4" tables for less than $300 dollars during black friday.

Both the Dick's and TSA tables are 3/4" blue tops with 2" rails, and nets included, but the Dick's table has square legs and the TSA has round. I have personally seen the ST3000 from Dick's and it's a nice table. I would recommend that you stop by either Dick's or TSA to look if they have the tables set up, so you can see which one you like. The reviews say it's a heavy table so if you're going to pick either one of them up, you might want to take some helpers for loading and unloading it. Best of luck. :)

  4. I had the 40" Westinghouse in my cart for several days online at $549 price, but today its been removed and nowhere to be found on targets website....hmmmm.....

Well there goes that idea, I wanted to get this online since my store cant sell me the westy 40" until saturday. I'm hoping they took the TV off temporarily and will offer it again closer to BF. BTW does anyone know if there's free shipping on this item? or if they offer ship to store. Sorry I'm a noob with out a clue. Thanks.

  5. My Target didnt have the 40" Westy in store either, just the 42"

I went to target last night to see if they had the 40" westy, as I was walking by the electronics dept, I saw a lady come out the back where they keep the merchandise and asked her if she had that item (DPCI: 008-09-0740) in stock. 6. Yes, you can buy this TV today and get it Price Adjusted on Fri Nov 26th or Sat Nov 27th to get it at the Black Friday Sale Price of 298$.

Go to the customer service desk and ask them to see if they have the following item in stock. Hand them a piece of paper with the following numbers on it.

    DPCI: 008-09-0740

If they have it in stock tell them you would like to buy one and to have one brought out to you. Then, just bring your receipt into ANY Target during the sale dates to get your adjustment.

I have been doing this for two years running and it works great. Some Target's may not sell you the TV because of how close it is to BF.
