  1. This is going to sound cliche, and not really going to be helpful to you, but I just want to be thought of. My favorite gift last year was one I didn't get. My daughter in law took the time to go online and look up weighted blankets. I would love to have one, and she knows it, and she did some research. Now, it turned out she couldn't find one she could afford. But the fact that she put thought into it made me cry. I honestly don't even remember what I ended up getting from them, but I'll always remember that she thought of me. I raised (and spoiled) 2 boys, and I just never get that out of any of them.

I just got one off Amazon for $40! Best thing ever! I hope she finds a great deal for you!

  2. Does anyone know if they run their Black Friday ads online too and if so is it live earlier in the day or around the time the sale starts at the store?

  3. If you live in an area that has a ShopRite (grocery store) they had them for $99.00.  I've found a lot of great toys there much cheaper than anywhere else. Don't have a ShopRite, check your local grocery stores, they might carry it also.

That would be amazing! But I live in Missouri:( I live in rural Missouri so I have Walmart and a store called Country Mart. Might check at some of the bigger ones in the city though!

  4. We don't really have a budget.  I shop a little every pay day, starting in July.  This year, we are doing something I saw on pinterest.  I have 2 boys, 10 and 11, and they will each get something they want, something they need, something to wear, something to read + stocking and a few small surprises.  At this point, we have spent about 1/2 of what he spent last year, and the boys have really enjoyed choosing things they'd like that fit into each category.  It forces them to be choosy, so I know that what they are asking for are things they'd really love to have, and it keeps things from getting too huge and costly.  They both asked for ipod touch 4th generation for their "want" gift, they "need" cases and itunes gift cards, their "wear" gifts were new hightops for one and a watch for the other, and each a nice book.  We will have spent about $350 on each of the boys this year,  much less than past years, and I think they will be THRILLED on Christmas morning.  DH and I spend about the same on eachother, and use DH's holiday bonus to shop for eachother.  Otherwise, we buy for my parents, 2 sisters, 1  niece, 1 nephew, 3 teachers and my BFF.  Those gifts range from $15 - $100 each, depending on who it's for.  We spend what we can comfortably spend as we pay cash for everything.

I saw that on Pinterest too and that looked like a great idea! Think I'm going to try that!

  5. I was wondering what everyone set for their holiday budget? I always tried to spend about the same amount on both of my kids (or have same amount of gifts) but one is that age he "can't think of anything" and my daughter wants the world! haha

Do you guys have a budget as a whole, for each kid? What about food? Seems I'm so bad about not budgeting for that and it gets expensive with baking and taking things places.

We only buy for our children (2) and our parents (with extra spouses that's 6).

    Would love your thoughts!

  6. Sadly I remember being rushed through opening gifts only to be dragged to 3 different houses for "christmas" and not being allowed to take my toys because some cousins were less fortunate then us......and THAT is why my kids and I stay at home all day christmas in our pj's....we can visit the day before, the weekend before, the day AFTER but nobody gets our day :)

That would be so awesome to do that! My dh and I talked about doing that this year. Always feel bad for my kids because I'm like you, that is how my Christmas mornings were:(

But my best Christmas memory is always Christmas Eve. We would go to my grandparents house and they would have Christmas music playing on their old stereo and they made these amazing little rye bread things. It was always just so awesome. We still have my grandparents (thankfully) but we now do it at my parents. Just not the same as the good ole days.

This has made me think though, I'm gonna ask my kids what their favorite part is:)

  7. Waited all day for the Kids Sport Shoes (basically Heelies) to go on sale. Finally decided tonight to click on them and they rang up $19.99 in the cart. They are also having a buy one get one free sale on sport shoes so I got both my kids a pair for $19.99 (reg price $34.99/ea). So if anyone was interested in those you can get two pair for less than the price of one. Checkout took forever though:(
