  1. I bought my daughter a Canon. Two years ago I had bought both teens Kodak digital cameras, and thank GOD I bought the extended warranty with it because my one daughter's died after 13 months! Sears couldn't fix it so they gave me $200 towards a new camera and I went with the Canon 7 megapixel. I don't know how much you are looking to spend, but go with the better brands like Olympus and Canon. DO NOT get Poloroid, their cameras are the worst, cheapest pieces of garbage around! IMHO anyway.
  2. I don't think Zune ever goes on sale, but I wish it would! My oldest wants one. Also, my youngest wants a digital camera. I have tried the cheap crappy ones, they don't last for anything. So I want to get her something higher quality. She's 9 years old, so she can handle something nicer. But I don't want to pay a fortune! So I hope they are marked down nicely.

  3. For Easter this year, I only bought a little candy and then I bought my oldest daughter (16) a $50 gift card to Barnes and Noble (she's a HUGE reader), my 14 year old a $50 gift card to ITunes, and my 9 year old daughter a $50 gift card to Toys R Us. All three were absolutely THRILLED. So I am thinking I will get them stuff they say they want, stuff I think they want, but I am also going to do gift cards again. But since it is Christmas, I am going to up it to $100 each kid, and maybe divide it into gift cards from different stores so they can shop at a couple different places and get different stuff.

  4. I just thanked them, I think it is awesome that they try to help us instead of threatening legal action and hiding behind their corporate lawyers like SOME companies do! This is what I wrote:

As a member of Gotta Deal's Black Friday Forum, I wanted to thank ACE for their wonderfully courteous, accomodating method of allowing us to view your Black Friday ad when it is finalized. We appreciate stores that actually want our business and work with us instead of threatening legal action. It is nice to see a business that recognizes early release ads for what they are - a way to get potential shoppers super-hyped about shopping at their store! Thanks so much for being an innovative leader and giving us this opportunity!

Hope the right people see it so they know they are doing the right thing and continue it!

  5. I work at Joanns and they are having Early Bird specials. They have flannel for 96 cents a yard, and a bunch of other stuff, don't remember everything from the flyer. But the sales are usually pretty good.
  6. I think most people didnt want to do the AOL sign up. I know I dont so it makes the prices really jump up without that deal applied. Same with the rebates. Most people will be ok with alot of rebates if it makes an item free but the sheer quanity that Cusa dealt out was boggling

Yes, the rebates suck. If I had hundreds of dollars to go shopping with in the first place, I wouldn't need to wait for the sales! DUH! Apparently, Compusa can't figure that out. I wonder how much higher their sales would be if they made the prices as low as this WITHOUT rebates?
  7. You know, I thought their prices were pretty good this year, too, but everyone else on the forum was complaining about them, so I assumed I didn't know as much about the items. Of course, it could be because of all the stupid rebates!

  8. I got a killer gateway desktop system at best buy last year at a super price, but after waiting in line 2 hours, I just wanted to check out and move on. Instead, I was harassed by the GEEK SQUAD MAFIA to buy surge protectors, battery back ups, extended warranties, etc. I was actually MAD when I left there and it wasn't due to the wait. :curse:

I know that is frustrating, but do you realize how much pressure salespeople are under to sell those things? I used to work at Sears, and it was a huge thing to sell protection plans to customers. The big bosses were always looking at our percentages, and they were never happy with what they saw, so they yelled at the district manager, who yelled at my boss, who tried really hard to motivate us. But what are you going to do when customers just don't want them? I'm not going to push!

  9. I haven't thought or said "WOW" yet. The only thing Im excited about is the $48 SP systems at Walmart. Thanks about it

I'll have to wait for Kmart's Thanksgiving Day sale ad. I have noticed that in recent years, their prices have been awesome. Oh, and I think they are the ones having the Cinderella DVD for only $13 on BF. I hope I can get one!
  10. I agree as well, seems compusa's stuff is about the same as on their site now and I hate mail in rebates. I don't think I can stand in line 2 hours again at best buy this year, so I was REALLY hoping compusa would be the bomb. It is cool they're opening at midnight though.

I wish I could get their prices online, but the ad says instore only. The only thing I really saw there that I really want is the 200 gig hard drive for $30 after rebate. The rebates are a pain in the wazoo, but I have done them before, so I guess I can do them again. However, I am not driving 30 minutes for one item!
  11. As of right now, I'm still in the "do I really want to go out" mode. I can get a laptop online for only the cost of shipping more than camping out for hours in front of a store. There is nothing else on my list that is imperative that I get on BF that I wont be able to get deals for elsewhere before Christmas. So unless Best Buy comes out with a really good, cant pass up deal, then I might even sit this BF out and sleep in.

I'm waiting for Best Buy and Circuit City, too. Oh, and Toys R Us. I hope that Baby Born is going cheaper than $40, but I doubt it!
  12. What I have noticed is that a lot of big stores are already having sales!! Kohls is a big one where I am that is having big sales now, as well as Hechts. Does this mean BF sales will be even better or that they are not planning on have big BF sales and we are better off shopping early???

I am hoping this means that BF prices will be awesome! Maybe they still have some surprises up their sleeves.
  13. I was just thinking, I have been looking around at the ads posted here, and so many of the prices seem to be everyday prices. What are the stores doing? Sure, they have some doorbusters, and a few sale prices, but I'm just not seeing a lot of low, low prices that make me want to get out there at 2 am. Is it just me? :yelclap:

  14. I am starting a job at JoAnn's Fabric store tomorrow. I told them I couldn't work any Friday at all, and they told me Black Friday is mandatory. What could I do? So I told them I would work evening only.
