Last year at BF we started at Walmart. My sister got an $88 ride in truck for my nephew, but when we got out to the parking lot, the box was too big to fit in the car. A group crowded around us, several people offering to buy it from us if we couldn't get it to fit. (One guy said he'd give us $150!) We ended up tearing it out of the box and putting the various pieces throughout the car so that it would all fit. Luckily, we kept up with them all and it worked when we put it together!

And that just turned my day around! I'm really glad to see that they are so cooperative.

We did this last year for my brother in law. He has so many SNES games and no way to play them. He loved it. in addition, the games for it are super cheap, because no one is plaing SNES anymore! And game store should have lots of used ones. -
Does anyone here understand the register rewards? Does that mean that those items are free?

My mom is tax exempt (dad is a disabled veteran) so we have to check out at the customer service section. It's a snap. If you don't want to partner shop, just have something that you want to take back so that you can check out in the back.

I've seen it done every way. Many times the stores do close, just for Thanksgiving night. I've been to one where they did let you walk around with the stuff in your cart, but that was years ago, and I doubt they'd do that now. Some stores pass out tickets, but last year the 24-store I went to just didn't have the items where we could get them until 5.
-
In the past, they have always left it up to the individual walmart stores. I plan on calling the manager of the store that I plan to go to closer to BF. Although the store I go to is a madhouse on that day, we don't have a camp out situation, and tickets are fairly unnecessary because they always have a lot of things left over.

Wasn't it Office Max that didn't have a BF sale last year?
-
lol! I'm right there with you! I'm pretty much worthless the week before Thanksgiving.
-
I wish they would, but the reality is; they probably won't. I'm guessing that they hope that people will shop for Christmas anyway. My one gleam of hope is that maybe people learned from Walmart last year. They had a lot of great deals, and there were many people who never shopped there that started there on Black Friday. Honestly, had it not been for Walmart last year, I wouldn't have been abe to afford gifts for everyone!

Is there anyone who has purchased a plasma in the past on BF? Are you happy with your choice? -

Tulsa, OK is an hour away from my house, but still the closest place. I love it, though! -
Although Kohl's has some nice deals on Black Friday, it has been my experience that their "50% off" prices are still MUCH higher than other stores at regular price. I love that Kohl's opens so early, but we didn't go last year because we assumed it wasn't really worth our time. (I will say when we have started there, we loved the Kohl's cash!)

I went back through and looked at several of the ads last year to give myself a fix as well!

I've started at Kohl's every year except last, just because they open early. We usually get to Walmart before they start their sale and head to Kmart or Target next. (We do Big Lots and Kmart on Thanksgiving.)After we hit our big 4, we'll do stores like Ulta, Staples, Ace Hardware, Office Max, and Walgreens.
-
Hopefully you'll know soon if they have it at Ace Hardware.... I'm SO ready for some ads!

The Netflix capable player is sounding like a good deal to me! I'm needing an ipod docking alarm clock, maybe a cheap GPS, and lots and lots of TOYS!!! This will be the first year ever that I'll be looking for clothes on bf as well.
-
I guess it depends on where you live. Kmart has different sales on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday- and we always get some great deals down this way. They always seem to have the items advertised, but the employees aren't knowledgeable at all. Last year, I watched a woman ask an employee about an item, and the employee said that they never got the item; but I was looking right at them. The year before that, we went there on Thanksgiving, only to see that instead of putting out the Thursday sale items, they put out bf items. Either way, if you know the store well, and they have good sales, I'd say go for it. We've saved money there every year; but be cautious. We go every Thanksgiving morning, just to skope out the set up of the store and it has always paid off. Also, the check out it ridiculously slow, so if you have a person to wait in line for you while you grab the items you need, it'd help out a lot. Okay, so it's not the greatest place ever, but it's worth it for us; you just have to be smart.

I love yankee candle, and that is a FANTASTIC deal! I think it may depend where you are from as well. I live in the Tulsa, OK area, and we don't have many camp-outers at our Best Buys. (last year there were none at all at one store!)
-
As of now, how much do you plan on spending this holiday?
musicalkarasel replied to Brad's topic in 2009
More, hopefully. I've never started saving this early before, but I really want to get everyone nice gifts this year! -
My sister and my mom. It's a tradition for us, we are pretty hardcore. We do have some cousins and friends stationed at different stores as well.

Seriously? Black Friday in July? Are you guys serious?

113 days! I'm already so excited! -
Wow, this is HARDCORE! It's awesome, I love it! I'm in Tulsa, and lines aren't that bad, so no need to camp out for days at a time, just hours. Something hot to drink, hand warmers, my hoodie, and I do cash as well. I love the index card idea.

My sister just got a cricut, so anything to go with that. Any toys for the kids, and a tv! Also, I need a DVD player, and I hope that those are next to nothing since everyone in the world has upgraded to blueray.
