  1. Does anyone know if you have an item in Sears layaway that is one of these doorbusters and you get it out today, if it will be today's price -- for members? My mom has that Motovox minibike in layaway for my nephew (at 399) and she's a shop your way member; I told her to call and see if she got it out now if it would be the price for the "special preview" event or whatever. Worst case I guess she could buy one online now and return the other, right? It does say due to high demand the item is temporarily only available in stores.
  2. Oh, heh. "Fast and Free Delivery, No Minimum Purchase on Office Supplies, Furniture, and Technology: From 11/21-11/29 just place an order with OfficeDepot.com, then your delivery will be FREE! 3. Panic, yes. Also not as "into" it as I feel like I should be but then I think maybe I'm just thinking about it TOO much. And then there's "I set aside money for this, it's going for that other unexpected thing that came up..." and that kind of thing. I work as a waitress right now, I'm in school and I find myself obsessing over "What will tonight at work be like?" as if I can control the number of customers or dollar amount that I make -- it's additional stress that I don't need on top of studying and taking tests and trying to finish my quarter. So I'm kind of just ugh about everything right now.
  4. On Black Friday the mixer is on sale for $299.99 You get 10% off extra making it $269.99. If you have the 15% off for that day using your kohls charge it makes it $229.49. There is a 30$ mail in rebate making it $199.49. But since you are paying $229.99 you would get $40 in kohls cash making the mixer really only cost $159.49.

I would still check during the 30% off starting on Wednesday Nov, 10 to see if you can beat this deal.

I'm thinking about this - I don't have a Kohl's charge so that is right out. I guess for me it depends on whether the mixer is available online on BF - my nearest Kohl's is around 50 miles away and I'm not going in that direction on BF. :/ But it is a pretty good deal.

  5. So. I've been really wanting to get my mom one of these for several years now and I just think this is the year. I've been stalking them on Amazon and I'm wondering if any of you think I should hold off until closer to Christmas -- the onyx black is right now listed at 242.99. Think I will be able to get it for much less at any point between now and Christmas? I don't want to hem and haw around and end up not getting one, I just.. want a good deal on one. ;)
  6. We have paid cash for all our purchases this year...what is making me smile is "how" much we spent on ourselves. The big ticket items had some really great deals - the week before black friday and on :gdnum1:... as for the nieces and nephews ... one nephew we bought a wii game and had shipped (free) directly to him (btw, keep an eye on Amazon - super deals), the others are getting $50. Our children are deployed so they were shipped "light" packages and our grandchildren don't really need anything. This year we decided to provide "Christmas" to a family ... always bought something for someone I didn't know but this is different. I can't tell you how exciting it has been to get the Zhu Zhu pets, asking people to keep an eye out (and they actually finding what I couldn't)...while shopping with my hubby, I asked if we could buy the family a Wii. He said I was going overboard but conceded to the purchase and if he still had reservations we would return it in a week - guess whose out buying games! LOL! All paid by cash, not doing the math ... and I am truly surprised that with the most precious people not "physically" part of the holiday this year-we are still excited, still buying a tree (which we didn't do last year), and really "feeling" what the holiday should be about. HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!

Wow, this is one of the most awesome things I've seen. Y'all are going to make some people have a really special holiday!!

  7. Christmas Eve is a traditional polish feast called "Wigilia." I make dill pickle soup, pierogi, fish, cucumbers & cream, dessert.

Cucumbers and cream - what's this? (Probably sounds like a dumb question but my mom makes a cold cucumber dish and I'm wondering if yours is the same. She says her dad used to make it [her family is Polish] and I always wondered where it came from because I don't know anyone else who makes it.) One of my favorite things!

  8. Christmas Eve = traditional Polish stuff...in other words fish, fish, and more fish :( With boiled potatoes, vegetables, and some kind of thing the name of which I can't spell that has barley, peas, and caramelized onions.

Christmas Eve is at my house and I do an enormous batch of pierogi and salisbury steak. Everyone loves it and I'm not "allowed" to change the menu!

  9. Or what does your mom/grandma/wife/person whose home at which you eat Christmas dinner.. cook?

I have Christmas dinner at my mom's house. A few years ago we got tired of having ham or turkey and a repeat of all the Thanksgiving stuff so we had steaks on the grill, twice baked potatoes and some of our favorite sides. Last year there was a larger crew and she did prime rib and shrimp.

I guess I'm looking for some new ideas for food/traditions, etc. Do you have the same meal every year? Change it up a bit?

  10. I was hanging around to order the Sony 5.1 home theater. With shipping comes to $338.46 - so instead ordered it from Amazon instead for $326 and some change. Not a huge amount of difference, but just in case someone is ordering that particular item.
