On Buy.com you have to change the shipping to "Free Shipping" at check out, if you don't, you'll be charged for shipping. I have been in a hurry several times and realized I paid for shipping. If that happens, I cancel my order with shipping charges, and reorder with the free shipping. If you do it soon after ordering, it's no problem to cancel your order.

I have just talked to a 6th avenue representative and a Tivo representative. I called to cancel the two Tivos I purchased on 11/13, but the representative assured me that they had renegotiated their contract with Tivo and Tivo is honoring the original terms of activation to anyone who purchased before the 15th. I then called Tivo and they verified that 6th Ave information is correct., however Tivo said it applied to Tivos purchased before the 14th, but since mine were purchased on the 13th that isn't an issue but if you bought yours after the 13th you might want to check with Tivo. Tivo said I could purchase at the $12.99 monthly price, the annual price or the lifetime price of $399 when I activated my Tivo. The only condition is you must have your confirmation numbers so they can check the date purchased.

Yes, I ordered this on the 20th for delivery in time for Christmas and received shipping confirmation the same day. Just checked my FedEx tracking number and it said it is On Truck For Delivery (for today). I'm not leaving my house until it arrives as it probably requires a signature and don't want it sent back to the warehouse. Good luck. I know you must be very upset.

This is available ONLY if the store near you has one in stock. I checked my entire state and none were available at any of the stores. If you are lucky enough to find one at a store near you, I'm sure once you order online, it will be secured for you to pick up. Be sure to check the availability at your stores. I bought mine while shipping was still available (12/6/09) and it arrived yesterday. It's a nice laptop and well worth the money. Good luck to all!

If you aren't a Cosco member, you must pay a 5% upcharge on your purchase. However, 5% of $10 is only 50 cents. I bought mine a Cosco and I'm not a member. My total was $11.15 including tax & upcharge.

I bought my son an Acer at CompUsa for Christmas and couldn't be happier. True, 512 MB isn't enough memory, but I paid $19.99 for 1 GB (total of 1.5 GB after very simple installation) and Vista has run flawlessly. I guess it kind of depends on what you're buying the computer for, but for normal use, I think it's a great deal. Acer isn't a name brand, but it's probably made with most of the same components as name brands. Go for it!

I, for one, LOVE this store! I'm hoping the rumor is false, but it's probably true. I have bought numerous products from CompUsa that were free after rebate A month ago I bought a laptop for $299...regularly $549 (no rebates required) and with it got a very nice free Epson printer (after rebate...which I have already received). I'm probably headed over there this morning to get a adapter for the notebook I bought for $9.99 after rebates. I will miss them!
