  1. My son is used to work for Target and now for Albertsons. He says there are cameras over every register.

And that is pretty standard to review the tapes for an amount that large. If it is small, they usually don't hassle it. But it is just frustrating that they mess up and now you have to be invonvenienced. They should not only give you the $39.00 back that you were overcharged but also compensate you for the inconvenience. When an item rings up for an amount other that what is posted, WM will give you the item for free or take $3.00 off the amount if over $3.00. Albertsons will give you the item for free. Target doesn't do anything but give you the difference back.

really? Walmart does that, I know albertsons does, but I've on more than one occasion have bought something that they have priced differently on the floor and they NEVER give me anything except for the item at the price.

  2. This is my second time doing the shopping in DFW, my first time was two years ago and I was disappointed with only one store that I didnt make it to in time to get what I wanted. I miss doing BF in Florida, cause we nearly ALWAYS got what we wanted.

Hearing that last year ppl were already in line that early I guess I'm either not getting the one thing I want,or I need to get in line earlier. But I dont think I could do an all nighter by myself Thursday. So it looks as if I'm not going to get it then :(

  3. I just thank god that I have bought 90% of my kids' christmas items already (throughout the year due to all the clearances and sales on here). I'd be in trouble if I was depending on the ads for this BF

    Ditto!!!

and you'd think with the places that have their legal issues with the ads released, they would have had something special, but I dont think they have anything really. If I go anywhere its probably going to be walmart, and thats just for the few 5.00 toys they usually have just to have as a wrapped gift under the tree.

  4. Not sure if this has been said yet, but theres something on Targest site for a secret sale like Walmart is doing. It's supposed to be posted next week online and I guess not in the ad? Not sure. But I'd have to say, other than a possible gps because I just moved to an area where I keep getting lost, I dont think there is much out there this year. Good thing I picked up a bunch of clearance toys two months ago, to knock out alot of the stuff for my oldest.

I didnt see ANY hot toys going on sale at toys r us. And I know one toy they have it priced as an early bird special, its only 5 bucks more regular price.

  5. I remember not all that long ago that a number of stores offered some type of incentive for being at the store early. Usually a bag with samples and coupons or a stuffed toy etc.

I wonder why that stopped.....I haven't seen it for probably 3 years or so.

Also wondering if it was just a local thing...has anyone else gotten these types of incentives over the last few years?

JC pennys snowglobe also had a discount on it. Last year Sears gave out giftcards. I think it might depend on the area though.

  6. I forgot about the Cabbage Patch Newborns. At my Walmart they had tons of them and not many people buying them. I bought one for each of my great neices, I was able to go through and pick which name and how they looked. I was shocked when I came on here and heard so many people couldn't get any.

I managed to get one of those. I didnt even need it for my son But managed to get a girl that was near me hand me one for my moms friend. I only got it because my mom said if I can...and well. my kids toys are a bit more important!Unless I just cant get to them.

  7. another wal-mart story lol. my aunt and i shop bf every year and she really wanted one of the laptops. we arrived at 3 am in line, about 5 people in front of us. Since i love wal-mart it was fun to be one of the first in the doors and running through the store to get the laptop for her. well she found it first and they gave her a ticket to pay for the pc then go round back of the store to pick it up. after finishing shopping she paid and went to pick up her laptop and found out they over sold 4! someone put the laptops on the floor rather then handing out the slips for pick up. but in true wal-mart fashion they made it right by selling her a better laptop for the same price and a $50 gift card!

that must have been awesome to get to do!

  8. Last year my sister tried to get one of the desktop comps from Walmart. She was in Jax florida, I was near Dallas last year for BF and ended up going with my husband. My sister couldn't get one, and the time difference was an hour so my mom called me up and asked me to try and get one. We did. My sister was completely surprised on Christmas day and had absoultely no idea we were able to get one. Last year was by far one of the best christmas present years we've had.

THis year will be even better (although less presents for my three year old) we have a new edition to share it with.

Another funny thing that happened last year.. I was about 5 months pregnant and I was showing. My husband went with me while my inlaws watched my son, Lets just say at walmart I ended up with three baskets, two of which I was pulling through walmart myself to find my husband. People thought I was this crazy pregnant woman running through walmart! It was great! They were also pretty careful around me and I had more help because I was pregnant.

  9. I buy on ebay year round, and have already gotten several BIG christmas gifts out of the way. My husband will be done before BF, with the exception of letting him get himself a few items that he wants on BF. Plus I'm having everything shipped to my parents house, which is where we'll be for Christmas this year. Otherwise I'll give it to him early or chance telling him. I've already done and bought two things and gave it to him. :( I'm soooo bad at keeping gifts hidden from him till christmas.
  10. LoL, my husband is not happy about having to go this year. He wanted me to go with his mother, uh, I don't like her, and I dont need to hear my son doesnt need this or that. I decide what my son needs or doesnt need. Not her! I'd die if she even tried to go.
  11. "Px as in BX? Are you referring to the Exchange, (we're navy) but we're in texas right now and they call it BX here, but there's barely anything in the store except for the grocery part."

    PX=Army

    BX=Air Force

NEX=Navy, Marines and Coast Guard! :) I don't know why they don't just call them the exchange instead of mixing it around like that! LOL

thanks, that explains alot. LoL I met my husband when we were near the Exchange lol, plus my grandmother used to shop there (my grandfather was navy too) so I guess I always thought it was called the exchange everywhere.

We dont have an electronics at the BX here though~they have furniture and a small area of toys, actually got my son his vsmile he got for his birthday from there. Of course its like 10 bucks cheaper now everywhere else. :/ I guess I'll have to ask if they actually have BF sales, but I doubt they'llbe open at 3am.

  12. OK *****UPDATE ON 360 STATUS************

As some of you know, I posted a few days ago that EB ?Gamestop is getting around half of thier first wave pre-orders. hubby called DM today, to ask WTF to do with irate customers. Well, apparently Microsoft isnt as dumb as sony. there is apparently going to be a 2nd shipment within DAYS of the 1st. That doesnt mean they will be for 2nd wave pre-orders, but for the others on the 1st wave who wont get it on the 22nd. They would not give a date in case Microsoft cannot follow up. How mad would you be if you were told it would be there TWICe and TWICE it wasnt? But they said every preorder should easily be filled by Christmas. As far as after that, who knows. But I also wouldnt count on Target, WM, BB to have as many as originally thought either.

I'm amazed you got that information, I called game stop they said flat out we could order it, it was 50 bucks, and there could be a chance it might be there by christmas, but there might be chance it wont be till after, they dont know. But they'll take orders, so basically what they are doing is going by the day you ordered and filling them as they get it, Thats what it sounds like.
  13. If you didn't preorder one before August your chance of getting one is pretty slim. Pre orders on ebay are going for $650 to $800 if that tells you anything. Only chance is to find a store that didn't do preorders and be in line EARLY. I preordered 3 in June. 1 for hubby and 2 to sell on Ebay to the people that can't get them and will pay out the nose lol. That will be my BF money. Looks like it will be a good Christmas shopping year this year based on what they already go for. Rumor is the Nov 22nd shipment will be the only one before Christmas. Hope you find one

I'd be careful, if you dont already sell on ebay, even those items might be hard to sell. Believe me. You look at an item that is the same as yours but you aren't a powerseller, they don't buy. So it could be hard. I sold PSP's like that when they first came out (I sold on ebay actually by dropshipping, and they wouldnt buy from me at first)

  14. Walmart took preorders this time. Not sure about target

    Mara

My walmart didnt take preorders, so I assume here in Fort Worth they will sell on that day as well.I'm not going to try there though. I'll be giving walmart enough of my money on BF, I'm not gunna add to it with this item. I don't like Walmart to be honest, but they just have cheap stuff. THere ppl are mean though, so I try my hardest not to shop there as little as possible. but when it comes to christmas you have to go for the best deals :/

  15. They are $399 if you can find one on release day. You had to pre order them a while ago. Now I see your Army. The PX did not taqke preorders so if your in line early enough you can get one there on release day Nov 22nd

    Mara

There are two packages one is 299 and one is 399. I've been told the 399 is a good deal though. It will include quite a bit for the extra 100 dollars.
  16. If anyone is looking for deals on XBOX360, like it has alread been said, it will be hard to find one if you haven't already preordered one. But, my husband and I were up at GameStop the other day and asked about any kind of deals they would be having on the 360 when it is released and the associate said all he can tell us is that they are going to have a deal to the effect of, if you trade in your old XBOX and certain XBOX games (in one transaction) they will give you a good bit off the 360. Don't know how much "a good bit" is, but I do know last year they had a similar sale, you could trade in your PS2 and certain games and get the XBOX for dirt cheap (don't remeber how much). Hope that might help someone :)

But at game stop if you didnt order it already, you wont get it before christmas.

  17. Ok here is what I know about the xbox. Target here in fort worth texas, (i assume most targets all around) will be opening at 6am on the 22nd they will hand out tickets and supposedly depending on the target and the volume of customers there, Target is to recieve between 25 to 50 xbox 360's. THis is good for those of us who have someone who badly wants the xbox, and you forgot to preorder (they should have both the 299 package (just the system) and the deluxe package which is 399) Now, BEst buy, however is opening up at MIDNIGHT on the 21/22 whichever you want to call it. THey will open up and sell the xbox that morning/night, again however you want to call it. The way I see it again it's awesome because if I can't get one at Best Buy I have a second chance at Target! Just remember don't trample the pregnant lady on BF or on those days, I'm only trying to make my husband happy before the new baby takes the system away completely :) lol Thats the only information I know about the sales.I know nothing about anyone having accessories for BF but I'll tell you something, I would stand in line going through labor to buy it if it was on sale on BF! (im sure someone at that point would just hand me one)but its the point. My husband really wants this system, and for some reason I'm determined to get it, (might be because we lost alot of our stuff due to hurricane Katrina!, we wont have to replace the other stuff if I get him the new stuff! so to be honest it worked out for us)
  18. Well in Texas we have that new Concealed handgun law so I know I won't even think about it. You never know whats hiding in a jacket or a purse.

hmmm, this is my first time doing BF in texas, think I should have my husband bring his gun? heh, Naw, Just make sure my husband goes with. He'll protect me, 6'1 and well, mostly muscle, I hope nobody pulls a gun on us. :/

  19. Ok, this isn't a BF story, but still, it was around the holidays, and it shows how rude ppl can be. My sister worked at a Bath and Body works, and there was a lady in the store with her daughter, I think she was around 6 or something along those lines. Anyway, the mother was checking out and her daughter was standing right next to her. Another women, was apparently trying to get through, smack the girl on top of the head, and of course the mother didnt see this, but my sister (who was the cashier) did see it. The little girl yells out Ouch, (it wasnt just a light tap to get her attention. It was a smack. Anyway, the lady asked my sister if she saw what happened. My sister stated all she saw was a hand move and her daughter say ouch. Basically stating the women hit her daughter, although she can't be sure of it, so the woman confronted the lady who hit her daughter and this woman actually said, well your daughter shouldnt have been standing there! So the mother slapped the lady across the face. Police were called and My sister actually almost got written up for telling the lady what she did see. *she admits she knows she hit her, and she completely agreed with the mother saying something to the woman* I agree with the mother, as a mother, my child is instructed to not leave my side, no matter who what where when or how someone asks them to walk away. He will not walk away from me*of course he doesnt really listen to me anyway just yet, but at that age, he will, i hope.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this wonderful story with everyone and remind you that despite the sales, we all need to be careful and considerate still. What good does a 79.00 portable dvd player do us, if we're in jail. You wouldn't get to watch it in the cell!

  20. I usually go with my mom, *sigh* I have to do it alone this year. Actually this year we're going to leave my son with his other grandparents (inlaws) and my husband is going with me! He has to, I'm standing in line to get him an xbox on the 21st, he's getting up early and going shopping with me!
  21. I'll be there several hours in advance, depending on what it is I want. Actually, something I remember doing a few years ago with Walmart, go to a 24 hour walmart, they usually have the pallets there and you can go around before they open them and figure out what you're wanting, actually I think that was two years ago, and I got in and out with all of my items (my mom and friend was posted next to the pallets I wanted) in fact ppl ripped them and had already had them too, so that was another thing, but we were in line to check out 15 minutes after 6 (which was when they opened the pallets) so its always good to try that. I made out really well, got the items and didnt have to wait for very long, we just walked around and didnt have to wait out in the cold. I know I'll be waiting in line on the 21st at the best buy here for the stupid xbox 360 (*sigh* I will not be a happy camper that night) Its not like I'm saving any money on it either.
  22. I prob spend around $300 or so per child, plus stocking stuffers. My husband thinks this is way too much (as it is over triple what our parents spent on us as children in the 80's),but I want them to have the hot toys and stuff they want. I usually get it on sale, and put much of it on layaway so I don't go into debt over it. I feel like that if you can afford to spoil your kids a little, you should.;)

i agree, besides, if you get it on sale, and get alot of stuff, what do you need to buy them through the year? Nothing they have all the stuff they need!

  23. I have spent maybe 200 bucks so far on my son who is two, my husband however I have spent 300 already, and I will be spending another 400 on just one item ( the xbox 360) but I guess honestly, him having these items already, means I wont have to buy them for my son later, plus I can get them both the new game system (when my son gets older) and spend ALOT LESS money on them. But I go crazy for my son for all holidays including his birthday :) He's spoiled, it'll probably change cause we're pregnant with our second. And this christmas is definately going to be a smaller christmas esp, since my husband has gotten the big presents
