  1. Actually, I believe that the tickets are only for the 7hour special deals. There are other items on the two day sale that are also in limited supply, but I don't believe there are tickets for anything except the 7hour special items.

If you get a ticket for a 7hour item, in theory, you are supposed to have until 12noon to purchase it for the special price - sometimes mistakes happen if you go back at 11am you may find the item is gone - talk to a manager and try to calmly make them give you the item when it is back in stock for the sale price, since you did have a valid ticket & they messed up.

  2. Our store does this BUT no one leaves.. if you do you probably wont get the item :( We did this last year.. we came back at 4:30 and when we got to the register with our ticket it was sold out!!! I was so furious..

They may run out of it that day, even if you have the ticket, BUT, if you have the ticket they had better honor the ticket price when they get the item back in stock.

  3. That would be great! Even if you do get what you want, you can leave for WM or someplace warmer - if you have the ticket you should (key word "should") be able to come back anytime before noon and still get your item.

Has anyone else heard about tickets being handed out at midnight??

  4. Our entire district (which includes Dayton and Columbus) didn't have the national ad last year, but that was just for one year.

I thought that last year was the 2nd time in a row they did that here.

My friend told me that Reynoldsburg store had @ 15-20 people @ 2hrs ago - at least 1 tent.

I'm thinking that Tuttle may be the best hope for smaller lines.

  5. My sister has a Napster to go membership and I was thinking of getting her a GC for there but the only ones I see aren't for what she uses it for. I looked on their website and I can't seem to find anything.

Or anyone use rhapsody and recommend it? She is my last gift and she is impossible to shop for!

    TIA

    Vicki

I see that you tried BB - but there is a list of all resellers at www.napster.com - in the bottom right hand corner of the web page, click on "more info" in the Napster Cards and Promo Codes box. 7-Eleven and Marathon might still be open on Christmas?

  6. But is there going to be a paper Sunday since it is Christmas day?

Most daily newspapers are printed 365 days a year (366 in leap years).

What time does WM (or any other store...especially the 24 hour ones) 12/26 prices go into effect? midnight:01?

I believe that most, if not all, WM and every other major store closes for Christmas Day. Some Meijer stores actually change all of their locks on Christmas Eve, because they are only used once a year. Online stores may start some sales ON Christmas, others at 12:01am.

  7. My BB store wasn't accepting BBBs on any of the doorbusters at least on BF. I had a $3 coupon, and I really don't shop BB that often so I threw it on the counter when my sister was paying, and the associate said he didn't think they were accepting BBB on the BF merchandise. My sister got the emachines and 2 of the 3.99 dvds, so i figured maybe it would work on the dvds, but it didn't.

They lied or were misinformed. You might want to try taking your receipt, your BBB and a copy of the BBB terms and conditions back to the store. Advise them that they improperly refused to accept your BBB on BF. Request a refund for the amount of the BBB or at least a store credit/gift card.

You can find copy of the Terms & Conditions in this thread

    http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=20426

    or by doing the following

    1 go to bestbuy website

2 click on "help" at the very very top of the home page, next to a red "?"

3 in the search box type in "best buy bucks" and hit search

4 you should get "Best Buy Bucks™ Terms and Conditions"

5 click on that link & print it out

  8. There will be many sales before Boxing Day. They will be less concentrated (not all stores during the same 7 hours or whatever). That's why you want to stay tuned here at www.gottadeal.com so that you can best find all of these scattered sales!! There are effectively Boxing Day sales in the US, but they are "after Christmas sales" as the US doesn't recognize or celebrate boxing day.
  9. Great thread all2tired!! It's great that you did something for others because it was the right thing to do. I agree that sometimes those who can least afford it do give the most. I wonder if that is because they are the most aware of how much a small act of kindness can mean to someone.

I understand that capitalism works, it is our system and it's arguably the best system - but I'll save the ethics of resale and such for another time.

The thread title is about being disappointed in people and I think that Mara and outnumbered may have been the closest to what I'm thinking. I'm not naive and I am realistic. However, I also think about how sad is it that some of us think that we must have these luxury items. Is your entire life valued by your ability to obtain an X-Box 360 on day 1 of it's release? Will a child be scarred for life because he or she didn't get one of these Bratz dolls? Is your vision so impaired that you MUST have a 52" Plasma TV? I understand that many of us would like to have at least some of these items. But to see the deep emptiness in people just because their BF shopping cart is also empty disappoints me. It's not like you went to the grocery store and couldn't get a true "must have" item like food.

  10. I think that this could be a result of WM slashing prices so much so late in the process. It could also be an extension of a problem which I mentioned in a previous thread about a study which claims that WM prices do not ring up correctly more often than the guidelines permit. The only good thing in the study was that it seems you may be almost as likely to get a lower price than you are a higher price.

  11. I'm glad to see this discussion underway as I've thought changes have been needed for at least the last two years. I see many good ideas above and I'm sure we can make some useful suggestions to retailers for next year.

One problem that can't be fixed with rules is people. I don't just mean the unruly, the nasty, the thieves, etc. I mean the people who read an ad that says something like at least or minimum of 15 per store and somehow expect to get that item when they are 500th in line. Worse yet are the people who believe themselves entitled to these items, even if they are 1000th in line or even if they show up at noon. Be realistic people. Getting one of these doorbuster crazy deals involves some effort and a lot of luck.

  12. I've never heard of "cyber monday" how does it work?

I believe the essential concept is that everyone goes "back to work" and begins surfing the web at work for their Christmas or holiday shopping. Retailers are now catering to this growing trend with special cyber monday deals. As Brad already noted above - gottadeal will be pointing us to the best deals, as usual!:)

Gear up, here comes "Cyber Monday". Supposedly best shopping day online, compared to BF for brick & mortar.

cyber monday is very similar to BF for B&M in that the goal is to get as many people in the stores, or on the sites, as possible. It's gets holiday shopping on everyone's mind. However, the Saturday before Christmas has generally become the top revenue day for the B&M retailers.
  13. A Sales manager shows up at the customer service, asks for the problem description, assigns me to another advisor to look for another piece of the sandisk, as apparently the one I had was intended for pick-up. And assuring me that he'll try to match the price as much as possible, he sent me off, keeping the sandisk with him.

Does this make sense? I mean, I was at the store, I picked a legit piece.. and its not that I gave the sandisk away to him, it was passed from the guy at the cash register to the advisor to this sales manager.. you have to give the product to the store people to scan and make a bill!!!

It gets more amazing.. he was nowhere to be found when I got back!! And the 1-800 Circuit City customer service listened in... very empathetic, but of no avail!

There are four store employees who know I had the damn thing, if that was ever to be doubted.. but still nothing can be done, right? The store director refuses to even listen! Apparently, someone forgot to pull off a piece from the floor when there was a web/ telephone order for the piece, so they snatched mine. Feel so cheated!!!!

    -Grrrr..-

I doubt it would matter, but you could try to call that 800 CC number again and politely explain that you are still very upset. Explain that nobody has addressed your complaint and that the more you thought about it overnight, it seems that the manager may have done something improper. Explain that he and the other people in store refuse to talk to you and this matter needs to be addressed. You can also point out that you have little doubt that the store video tapes will confirm your story and if the csr can't help you, demand to speak with a supervisor or manager.

  14. Here's my response - doubt it will do any good. Does anybody have any suggestions as to who I should contact?

This is not aceptable. If it was in store only, why was I able to order it online? If Best Buy made a mistake by putting it online, then they should honor the sale - especially since Best Buy emailed me a confirmation of the sale. I passed up other great camera deals because I was under the impression that a confirmed order is just that - a confirmed order and an obligation to provide the product. To cancel it the following day and basically just say sorry is unbelievably poor customer service. I would appreciate a response and I would like a contact name and number of the customer service supervisor.

    Thank you,

I think that response is pretty good for now - see what you get in return.

My question is: Did the page you ordered from say "in store only" or anything like that? If it did not, then I think you have a much better case. I don't know what the language is in the confirmation letters or in the official policies about the cancellation of orders, but - it would seem that if this item is for in store purchase only, they should not have confirmed your order. It is one thing for the order to go through and not be rejected. For a confirmaton letter to be sent would seem to be a second act which would only be sent out after they check and confirm all of their parameters. Did they ever charge your cc, even if you got a credit back later?

  15. I think the marketing people at Dell should work on a new commercial tonight - they should show or re-enact the chaotic zoo in a retail outlet :argue_mad:chairshot:gd_stars: , with people screaming over the noise that they want the affordable laptop - then cut to a nice relaxing scene with someone easily ordering a Dell online. Pan back to show him watching the chaos on tv laughing and shaking his head saying "they should have bought a Dell"! or something like that...

    :g_thumbri :g_thumbri :g_thumbri:yup: :yup: :yup:

  16. Obviously I was not there, but I do wonder how you can be so certain that these other people were not at another store or something. I realize that they probably just jumped in with their friend, but - since their friend was up ahead of you in line, is it not possible that they all got there early and some went to another store or even back to their cars to stay warm?

I respect that you waited out in line for a long time and that you're mad, but everyone seems to do what they can get away with. To you it's ok that you went to compusa, to those behind you, it might not have been. But I think that one of the buzz words that gets everyone in trouble in these matters is "deserved". Nobody deserves anything - it's the sale of a retail item. Nobody "deserves" to buy it more than anybody else at full price or at sale price. It's too bad that you didn't get it, but unfortunately, life isn't fair.

This is just another reason that I keep repeating that these stores will need to come up with a better, safer (more fair, if possible) system.

  17. I just received this form letter response.

Thank you for contacting Best Buy about BBY01-9840xxxxxx. I'm Mary

    with Customer Care.

We regret to inform you that the Kodak-EasyShare 5.0-Megapixel Zoom

Digital Camera-C360 was cancelled due to this item was for instore

    purchases only.

    Best Wishes from Best Buy,

Mary and the Customer Care Team

That's just sad. Is "Mary" related to Hal or is she offshore? "...was cancelled due to this item was..." isn't even proper English.
