  1. I have a Janome 525s and have had it for about 10 years.  I don't use it a ton, but I do love it.  I think I paid around $200 for it. I have done buttonholes on it and it was super easy - you put the button you want to use, in the holder, and it automatically makes the hole the correct size for the button.

I once heard that the Singer machines that you find at WalMart are specifically made for Wal Mart and aren't as good of quality as "real" Singer machines. Not sure if it's true or not, but it has always made me wonder.    Although, for most novice sewers (or infrequent ones) - I am sure they would be just fine.

  2. I just went directly to their website and the EMN hammocks (and the straps) are already available at the DB price   :gdclap:   Not sure if any of their other DB deals are available now, but if you're looking for something at Dick's, you may want to check it out.      One less store I have to shop at on Friday!   :gdyes:

  3. I have never shopped Dicks Sporting Goods on BF. I am looking for hammocks this year and they have an early bird deal on some - I can't tell if it's something I can order online. Does anyone have an idea if their deals are available online? TIA
  4. My daughter and I didn't head out until shortly after 7 this morning.   We didn't even attempt Target/Wal-Mart/ToysRUs - nothing we really needed there.  We went to the mall and were shocked at how empty it was.   I have never had such an easy trip into/out of Bath and Body Works on Black Friday.    When we went to American Eagle the gal said that they had been dead pretty much the entire time they had been there (since Thanksgiving night) and that the H&M store had sent half of their staff home at some point.

Things had started to pick up when we left the mall - probably around 1?    Old Navy was one of our last stops and checkout there was the typical Black Friday madness.

I really wonder if stores will rethink opening on Thanksgiving -although I think it helps those of us who don't go out until Friday morning b/c I think the Thanksgiving night shoppers were home and back in bed :)

  5. The patterns are: Fanfare, VaVa Bloom, Flutterby, Midnight Blues, Blue Bayou, Jazzy Blooms, Clementine, and Plum Crazy.

Also, if you spend $125 or more, between Nov 27-Dec 1, You get a collapsible duffle in Cherry blossoms free.

  6. Thanks so much for the heads up! We have been paying $34.95/mo for 3 units for who knows how long -since we first got XM! My husband called yesterday, told them he wanted to cancel, sent him to their cancellation dept and we now have it for 5 months for $46 total! Score!
  7. I finally broke down and bought our first AG doll for my daughter. For those of you who hesitate at spending so much $$$ on a doll -the Gotz -Precious Day collection dolls are wonderful. Gotz is the original maker of AG dolls before they were Mattel started making them. Our daughter has had hers for 2 years now and it's still in great condition. You can usually get them for about $60. We also have the Target dolls and although they are very inexpensive their hair is HORRIBLE! The only problem w/ the Gotz dolls is that they don't have a huge selection of dolls.
