basic weber spirit i saw at my ace $299 with free assembly

That is good advice, and if I could do that I would. But Webers run a bit more than I can hack right now. And we need a grill so I can start grilling. :) Unless you know of a really good deal?
try your local Ace Hardware. Weber recently changed the grills and the design so
maybe a few in clearance. the cheapest i've seen is 399 also take a look at
DUCANE which is made by weber. make sure its propane.
I personally hate Ducane the look is like a plane but a solid grill.
-
Can you say, Natural Gas?
I never run out :)
WEBER rules, none better for the $$$.
next weber we buy i'm getting ng.
-
i hate to say it but save your money and buy a weber grill.
A weber will alst you at least ten years and you would have gone through five
cheap grills by then. the weber is a quality grill with stainless burners and stainles grates.
the warranty alone makes it the best choice.

Totally agree with you. Why complain to pay $60 for an over $300 software which is what I paid for mine. Wish I was in college and had the opportunity to get it at this price.
wait isn't Microsoft screwing us by giving a OS that sucks and is too prone to virus's.
don;t reply with MAC is so much better, it's not, it's just that no one uses it so no one
bothers to write codes for it.

got microsoft enterprise for 8 bucks. :)

i remember when i was dating my now wife and i had my work blackberry on the dash
of the car. i took a sharp curve at to fast and i watched the phone go sliding right out the window. I pulled over just in time to see it get crushed by cars. i had to call the police
to come and get the pieces only because i had work numbers on it and couldn't let
it just lay there.
oh i could tell stories. some young kid thought it would be cool to steal my laptop
from my work car, he must have thought it was just a cops laptop and thought it would be
so cool. i wonder how cool it was when the FBI knock on his parents door to investigate
the theft.

I'm pretty positive I want to stick with the GM plan. I just like the fact that it's basically like continuing my current warranty. It covers everything except a small list of things. (Some of which are body panels, bumpers, wind noises, odors, regular maintenance, batteries, etc.) If we bump up one more year to the 60/60,000, the price increases to $3,900. I am not sure I can justify $1,700 for the extra year. The 48/48,000, if I buy it just before my warranty expires, will cover me to 2012 and until just about 84,000 miles (depending how many miles are on the odometer when I buy it).
I also think of it like peace of mind. I'm sure if I don't buy it, everything will go wrong.
you should look at other gm dealers that seems very high. we got the cadillac which
is gm for way less then what you were quoted. make sure that warranty isn't 4 years from
manufactor date which you say is 05 which could have been made in 04 so you then
would tack on the four years from when the car was made not when the original warranty expires.
if you do get one goto the 100g or the most years and mile combo, you are more likely
to have problems later on. also remember have eveyrthing done at the dealer. oil changes and tire rotations and such that way they see a problem they will act on it.
hope that helps

I have a 2005 Trailblazer EXT and the 3/36,000 warranty will expire in about another month, or 650ish miles. I looked over extended warranty info on the internet and I think the best plan for me is probably the General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP). I'm thinking about getting the 4/4,800 with a $0 deductible. Apparently the retails is about $2485 and the best quote I got was for $2,259. I called my local dealer and he was willing to back out the tax from that amount to match it. One of the online places that supposedly had the best prices wanted over $2600! Craziness!
Does anyone have a GMPP plan? Other extended warranty? Thoughts on this deal?
on my taurus we basically got the premium esp covers bumper to bumper till 6/100g miles.
50 buck deductible.
On the wife's other car same thing.
On the wife's escalade we got the bumper to bumper coverage for 1900 with 50 deductible.
some people say they are waste of money but with us it's the peace of mind. goto the dealer
and tell them the check engine light is on, fix it, grab a rental and your off.
then just to write that 50 buck check priceless...
i will tell you it was best to wait so if you do finance it your paying for interest on something
that doesn't kick on till the orignal warranty is over.
also do not go with those third party plans. the dealer will make you pay out of pocket and then you have to fight to get your money back..
good luck

i can't help but drive for work. i am usually on the road eight hours a day, some days
are easier if i have court which is not that bad. I fill up every third day but, i drive a state
car and my crown vic gets about 20 mpg which isn't bad.
The wife's new truck is getting about the same as me but, she travels half an hour each way
maybe 15 miles so it hasn't hit us yet.
A side note about the economy i just found out someone i know is foreclosure.
I will admit that it hit me hard and i feel so bad for this person.

you would think Sears would do something to combat them losing customers by the boat load.
i will never go back........

thanks for the update...
and... I know what you mean.. I had a job interview with the state police once... the guy I interviewed with called and left a message on my machine
"This is sergeant joe shmoe from the State Police <blah> <blah>....
My heart stopped. No way I could take that job and get those sorts of calls. :)
I regularly talk with our AGs office... so that one doesn't throw me at all :)
lol i know when our legal staff calls it's no big deal but, AG's lol
-
The AG'S office called me today. (just something about the AG'S office
leaving voicemails on my phone is scary. lol)
They are asking for the rebate form because Sears is saying it is their own
rebate but have not produced a form yet. I quickly responded i will fax it to her
when i download the form. It is a XM rebate now i will wait and see what happens.
Truth be told I want the store manager to get that knot in his stomach when
he opened the complaint from the AG'S office. I hope it ruined his day with his
dinner with his family, just because he was a disrespectful jerk that needs a dose of
reality real quick.

update
sears corp is telling me that because they put out national fliers they do not
have to follow the law except to add "see stores for details".
store manager or district manager have not called me back.
i sent my complaint packaged to the AG'S office I'm so waiting to hear what they say.
I included a local Ace flyer and how they handle the rebate problem.
I am so looking forward to destroying Sears.

I was going to ask if that act actually passed, but apparently it has based on the replies here. The store manager should be reprimanded for his manner of talking. Personally, I'd go right back in there with a printout, in front of a whole bunch of customers, and say something like, "You have a lot of nerve telling my wife she doesn't know the law. YOU are in violation of RI Act### blah blah blah and I expect an apology for my wife, as well as for you to comply with the laws of this state. If not, I'll be contacting the Attorney General's office." I would then proceed to call the AG's office, anyway. If that law was, in fact, passed, then they are in violation. I can't tolerate stupid people who have the gall to talk down to others. He has no business speaking to your wife that way. Additionally, I'd be on the phone to the district manager asap. This guy needs to learn how to treat customers. BS.
i really want to grab chris by his neck and slam his head into the counter.
Then tell him no one speaks to my wife like that, for god sakes i live with the woman and i can't :)
I have left another message with the manager he doesn't call back.
i'm not able to get the dm's number or his name for that matter i've been trying.
-
I would guess one phone call would handle it. By making it a doorbuster on saturday (outside office hours) they make it more complicated - but not by much.
One call or letter from a States Attorney General will likely produce a quick response.
here's the funny part my office is in the same building as the ag's office.
I'll try and go and talk to some guys or gals and see whats up.
-
I agree that this should be reported. The law does not state the penalty for not abiding by it but you are right in not having to pay the full amount minus the advertisd rebate in RI.
when you file a complaint with the AG's office they ask what out come
you would like.
I filled in the form every consumer that paid the 50 should be compensated for the
skirting of the law. they should also investigate how many other times Sears did this.
I only noticed this one because I love my XM radio.
perhaps a class action alw suit.
-
the store manager can't do anything. you have to contact sears at a corporate level.
i think most of the confusion is that in every state except RI, ads that are worded as the sears ad are perfectly acceptable and most people understand it as free AFTER MIR. that's the way i interpreted it. since RI has a law that states if it is advertised as free but only after MIR, the store is required to give the rebate right then and there. you can contact the store to see if you can still get the item, but you'd have a MUCH better shot at it if you contact their corporate offices.
was the ad one you picked up in the store/in the paper or online in general without entering your zipcode? that could make a difference if they have a regional ad that was not meant for your state.
you can also file with the attorney general's office. since RI is a small state, they'll probably get around to it much quicker than other states.
i also fixed your link in the first post.
thanks
the ad came in the Providence journal

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. I'm genuinely confused why you keep going back to a local store over a national issue. The law you believe applicable may be in Rhode Island, but ads are printed nationwide and managed, or contracted out, by corporate.
Ads are also printed months in advance, so there is also the possibility that the ad in question was simply printed before the law went into effect.
never said i kept going back, i left him messages and he doesn't respond.
the law went into effect 2006.
-
I know for BF I went to Warwick Mall to go to JCPenny's instead of Attleboro because all the rebates were instant in RI and CT, as far as I remember, the ad clearly stated MIR, instant rebate in RI and CT. Let me know the item that you were interested in, I am 2 minutes from the other Sears in RI, and I know a couple of people that work there. I'll try to find out what the deal is.
hi ,
it was in their saturday door buster ad from 9-12.
its the Free xm samsung portable radio mp3 player. I have made four attempts
to contact the store manager, he does not or will nto return the calls.
-
Local stores have no say whatsoever in what goes in national print ads. I'm confused why you think this store could change it. It's not like the manager goes to Kinko's every week and mails them himself.
Remember: ads are designed to draw customers in the store and have disclaimers in the back which mention things like sales tax (of course, some things are just up to common sense too). They're not a democratic process which will change just because one customer thinks it should.
not really understand why so much sarcasm. i think everyone on this forum knows
the manager doesn't print the ad's.
as far as they will nto change. it only takes one consumer to call the AG's office
and file a complaint. now imagine if the RHODE ISLAND residents on this forum
call the AG and ask the same question why does sears do it but not others.
It only takes one person to start a revolution.

They might be highlighting a certain dollar amount as a marketing ploy, but they, by your own admission, clearly state there is some initial expense first.
yes but, the problem is the word "FREE" it can not be on the ad from what i understand
intial cost is not nothing its 50 bucks. thats how they are skirting the law.
No other ads for Rhode island say free, they all folow ace's ad type.

funny you mention blockbuster.
We goto the one in our home town. the one here stinks like urine and the ceiling tiles
are actually falling out on the outside. during one rain storm they swept all the broken tiles
in piles that fell. i contacted corp and they said well they are franchise stores so
tough basically.
