  1. Usually stop for breakfast/lunch - go home hide everything, then get out the christmas decorations. Wrap a few things - put them under the tree and fight my dh for a nap (he has a hard day with the kids lol)
  2. I'm saving all my money up from my part time job; which is about $1000, but I really want to limit myself to $600!! Previous years, i had no money to buy things. I only spend $50 last year on a external hard drive. So this year is a HUGE jump for me.

Sounds like you are going to have some fun!

  3. I have to count presents (my kids are 6 and 3) they dont know too much about what things cost, so the money doesn't really matter to them, I usually try to allocate $500 each, give or take...but I always make sure they have the exact same number of presents. Just in case
  4. It may or may not be too early to line up. I know last year we had reports of lines starting Wednesday night. I think this year it will be the case where we will see more and more people lining up on Wednesday and early Thursday morning. The reason I say this is because of last years reports and when I did a scan of Black Friday news articles there were already over 60 articles nation wide talking about BF and different BF sites. As we get closer then the media articles will be in more numbers.

Maybe stay in your car until others show up?

  5. I have started the tradition with my daughter 3 years ago. She is now 20, and she knows the rules.

    Up at 3:30

    Find Krispy Kremes

    Have list and

    No browsing.

She usually adds an item for herself per store we our in. If she can find it quickly.

    Lunch

    Nap

Most of all do as I say. If I say go stand in line NOW, I mean NOW.

LMAO this is just like my mom and I - we started a few years ago when I first had my kids. We live in a duplex and our apartments are right next to each other. We plan our attack after Thanksgiving dinner - TRY to sleep but usually cant because visions of shopping carts fill my head...we meet on the porch at 4:00 AM and we're off for donuts...we DO NOT browse on this day, were only there for the door busters..she stands in line I do both of our shopping - and bring out items back to the empty cart she holds in line - we're out of the store as quickly as possible and off to the next store - mid day we stop for lunch - make our last stop of the day which is usually Walgreens to grab their wrapping paper and we go home - and go to sleep......ahhhhhhhh what a great day!

  6. I definetely do with my 2 boys. I figure it is only once a year that I really splurge like that. Every year I say I am going to cut back, but it is too hard. It's not my fault the stores have such good sales. ;)

Same here - I only buy toys for birthdays, Easter and christmas so why not splurge? I dont buy them clothes they are only 6 and 3 - why give a gift I "have" to get them anyways. I usually try to keep their presents to about 20 each - and then a few "together" gifts. Usually end up with about 50 presents total - we only buy for them though. We dont buy for family except our 2 nephews. My brother and I decided 1 gift per child $20 limit - keeps it simple and no one is sad that someone else got more then them. But when it comes to my girls its easy to go overboard. Like I said I dont buy toys throughout the year so I justify it.

  7. thanks.....i just want one for him to mess around with i am not really worried about printng just the fact that he can see them on the screen he'll be happy...he is 4yr old...

For a 4 year old this might be a good camera, we bought it for our 6 year old and she was very disappointed. Keep in mind the LCD is very small and cant usually tell what the picture is or was...

  8. I have 2 neices (5 and 3). The 5 year old LOVES the Princess Dolls and Barbies, so she is REALLY easy to shop for... Actually I think she is done considering all of the shopping I have done for her during the year... The 3 year old is another story... I saw something the other day about "Dream Town Rose Petal Cottage". I thought it looked like it would be fun for her. Does anyone have this for their children, or would you recomend it for a 3 year old?!?!

My 6 yr old and 3 yr old are also into Littles Pet Shop stuff - you could go nuts with accessories for these things. We have a bin filled with them and they get played with more then anything in our house.

My 3 year old is really into the Baby Baby chou chou collection - lots of accessories.

  10. any hear about the kids tough digital camera i really wanna get one for my ds

We bought this camera for our daughter (6) it is a cute camera but sad to say it hasn't gotten much use - it was a hit for a few days but she was really disappointed because most of the pics come out blurry - I think it's only 1 MP. You might be better off buying a $50 digital camera from Sony. Sorry I wasted so much money on it.

  11. Seems like Toys R Us has had some of the same sales the past few years - the craft box for 9.99 Candyland games for 3.99 etc. I wish they would focus more on toy bargains then the electronics (I know the electronics make more money for the retailers) but I'm not interested in electronics lol
  12. I love BF. this will be my 3rd year. The only problem that I have is that no one ever wants to go with me. They have no money, or its too cold. And it is hard for me to get everything i want. But that wont stop me, I guess I am going solo this year.

A few people have asked if they could go with me, but I only go with my mom - were fast, and plan our attack the night before, we really dont want anyone holding us back from getting to the other stores ASAP. The more people you have the harder it is to stay organized and move on quickly. I feel for you though, I wouldn't want to go by myself but if I had to - I would :cheesy:

  13. 2000 - 19 year old working at KB Toys...I cursed my boss for making me come to work at 3:00AM and work a 15 hour day so the crazy parents could line up at the store the night before and save a couple of bucks.

    2001 - Pregnant - stayed home

2002 - crazy mom standing in line at 3:00 and shopped for 15 hours trying to save a couple of bucks =} Now I'm hooked.

  14. The Sale Price that I got my items for was all-in-all worth: $5293.59

The Actual Price that my items retailed for at that time was all-in-all worth: $9534.79

That means for Black Friday 2006, for items that I would've bought throughout the year anyway, I had a Grand Total Savings of: $4241.20

    :D

    I want your budget

  15. I don't have a set price. I do make a list to make sure I don't forget anything, but I always end up purchasing some items last minute.

I try to have a few hundred at least saved before heading out on BF. I dont like to charge anything so I pay cash or use my debit.

I buy throughout the year so BF is extras. Never really buy tons on BF. Around $100-$150.

I think overall I spend roughly $600 for my kids. Maybe more. (2 kids)

$600 each or total for the 2 kids?
