  1. It appears I'll be looking for a TV.  Just not sure if I should go ahead now or wait.  Amazon has their Fire TVs already on sale before Prime Days.  Anyone remember if Prime Day last year had equivalent deals?  I just remember disappointment, but I wasn't looking at any Amazon devices last year, either.

  2. I would expect that is a normal reaction.  You ALWAYS want to discuss treatment options with your PCP as it could conflict with whatever they are trying to do for you.  Jumping on a seemingly random treatment that has never been mentioned by my Dr. seems like a bad move under most circumstances.

I've also never been very trusting of random phone calls as scammers can easily spoof a phone number.  It is very sad that we have so many scammers out there that prey on the most vulnerable.

Considering what I have said, the hospital should expect that ANYONE who they call will (and probably should!) react the same way you did.  I don't think you necessarily "lost" the opportunity yet.  And if it was a "schedule now or lose the chance", I would have expected it to have been more of a loss if you DID schedule.

I think you did well to question it.

  3. Are these gaming chair any good, and does Newegg do free shipping?  I know nothing about gaming chairs.

I almost bought the Homal one last year from Amazon.  They all look pretty good for the average sized person.

If the intended person is over 300lbs, get them a "big and tall" chair instead as the newegg ones will likely breakdown quickly with someone of that weight.  .

  4. I've had a smartwatch for years.  I'm actually on my second!

    What I've figured out:

If they use Apple, the Apple watch is by far the best you can do for them.

If they use Android, I would go with the latest Samsung watch.  It resolves several issues that Wear OS has struggled with.  If you can't get that one, go Samsung or Fossil.  Most of the Wear OS watches are Fossil based, so no need to pay more for the same thing.

No phone would put them squarely into a FitBit.  It's great for stuff like what you mentioned.

  5. Aside from last year's unique situation, on this date in 2019, 2018 and 2017 we really only had Harbor Freight and True Value.

And comparing to last year we're missing Dell (they decided not to leak it early - their sale starts Monday), Macy's (announced their weekly BF sales so their ad should be out when the first of those sales starts next Wednesday) and Home Depot (who started their sale very early last year and likely won't start it so early this year thus the ad is delayed).

Way to bring us down Brad!  We did need that reality check, though.

  6. Been a rough week for us in Texas.  Finally got water back last night.  The local water treatment plant had a frozen line.  Luckily, I haven't lost electric except for the rolling blackouts.  Haven't had a chance to be online much as work has demanded a bunch of my time.  Hopefully, things will wrap up enough to become normalized.

  7. I'm not pleased with Kohl's this year.  We ordered some stuff on November 17.  STILL haven't got it.  Called last week and they told us to wait another week.  After a few days, it showed estimated arrival the date they told us to wait to (2 days ago).  Checked it again today and it shows arriving today.

For some reason, I don't believe it.

  9. I have been looking at smart thermostats for a while and it seems like Ecobee is one of the best.  Several weeks ago, I found the "rebate center" on ecobee's website.

This rebate depends on your area and is for different smart thermostats.  You will need to use Google to find your rebate as ecobee seems to have turned off that feature.

Google search "Smart Thermostat rebate (your state)" and see if you qualify.

In my area, I was able to qualify for a $50 rebate coupon usable at certain retailers.

**This allowed me to stack on to the current Black Friday deals!**

So the ecobee package I was interested in is originally $250 is on sale right now for $199.  Add in the $50 rebate coupon and I'm able to snag it for $149!

**I think the Honeywell smart thermostat that is in pretty much ALL the ads for $99 will also qualify!**

Depending on your area, it may limit you to certain models or you may need to be in a specific area.  I've seen one are with a $75 rebate.

The coupon I got is for certain retailers ONLY.  Home Depot, Lowes, and ecobee (since I had selected that one).

If you have been considering one, please do a little bit of research and save a bit more!  YMMV
