  1. Oh my word. I just got back from a 12-hour shift today and was so surprised to see two packages waiting for me. I was like, "I didn't order anything within the past few days." Then upon closer inspection, they're from my Secret Santa. Thank you so much for going more than necessary. I would have been happy with one thing. You really just made my day, and my Christmas. I won't get to go home for Christmas to spend time with my parents because I have to work. I do have friends, but they're busy with their own families and life just takes a different course. What we had in common in the past is not what we have in common now. These two packages truly meant a lot to me: somebody cares. Thank you, again, my Secret Santa. I do appreciate your generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness. post-130236-141783989847_thumb.jpgpost-130236-141783991638_thumb.jpgpost-130236-141783992975_thumb.jpgpost-130236-141783994187_thumb.jpgpost-130236-141783995392_thumb.jpg

  2. No matter how much I tried to wait until Christmas to open my SS gift, I just couldn't do it. The temptation was just too strong! I love my gifts and the letter. My SS is so thoughtful and generous. I'm really touched that my SS took such care into picking out the gifts. Thank you so much. You really made my day. My family and I don't celebrate Christmas. So, it's really nice to receive a gift.

    Thank you, again.

  3. UNRELATED: Did anyone else find people waiting in line for stores to open without a clue what was on sale? Every store I stopped in at people were asking for my paper to see what was on sale. Honestly, you stand in a line at ungodly hours without a clue?!

Yes. I asked a young couple what were they doing in line if they didn't know what was on sale. Their response, "Our friends wanted to come shop. We just tagged along because everyone else came." It's people like this that annoys me on Black Friday. Many of the teenagers think it's "cool" to go wait in line so they can brag about it on twitter or facebook. They don't buy anything. They just go because it's convenient.

  4. I did all of my Black Friday shopping online on Wednesday and Thursday. Gotta loooove online shopping. I still, however, ventured out to the malls to browse on Black Friday.

  5. twilightcalm - I personally don't have a problem adding you to the card exchange after the deadline because I don't have to rearrange/shuffle so if you want to send me your address, I will you the list and send your address to those on the card exchange and I will let them decide if they want to send to you - but I won't require it since they may have already bought the exact amount of cards.

peekaboo - I replied to your email yesterday morning, I will resend.

gatorburg - I'm not participating in the swaps but my cards are ready to go!! :)

  8. Does anyone know if Best Buy is having a sale on their DVD+R's 100-pack spindle? I remember for the past two years they were sold at $4.99. I looked through the ads today and I didn't find anything on them.
  9. I'm visiting my parents for thanksgiving and will be doing some christmas shopping afterwards. Appleton, WI is much smaller than Chicago but they have some of the same stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, and Walmart. Is anyone from that area? If I wanted to get a laptop for my parents for christmas, should I be expecting the same type of long lines as in Chicago where my chances of a laptop are slim and none? What should my expectations be?

    Thanks in advance,

Hey! I'm from Appleton also...well, I live and go to school in Milwaukee, but my parents live there.

The lines are probably the same. Last year was my first year "camping out" and waiting in line for Black Friday. I went to the Best Buy at the Fox River Mall, thinking I went early enough at 1:00AM, but by the time I got there, there was a pretty good size crowd already of at least 200 people.
