  1.  I've noticed in the past (when I didn't need them) that Babies r us has had their brand of diapers for around $10 give or take a few bucks. This year I have 2 new granddaughters and I think this will be my first stop if there is a deal like this. What have your experiences been as far as the quantities in store. Did they have more than enough or was the stock very limited and it's not really worth the wait in line?

  2. I just went and checked the CVS across the street and they still were at 75% There wasn't anything really great. I looked for all the things posted and no such luck:( I did find a few chocolate Items to us in the prize bags for a bridal shower I am throwing next month. Godiva pretzels, lindt chocolates, Werther candy dish assortment and boxed ribbon candy. I also got a red Hershey kiss to give my DD for Valentines day:gdinlove:
  3. It is freaking freezing here and the wind is just horrid!!! There were wild carts everywhere in the parking lot - not too safe.

Anyhow - there was still quite a bit left at my Target, even though I didn't really buy much except legos and some pretend play girls stuff. They had tons of the Circo activity table left on an endcap, tons of legos & hot wheels sets. Most of the big stuff was left. Lots of games like Operations etc. I got the Avent sets, Lego City, and some odds and ends.

What part of Ny are you in and which store are you talking about. I am In Rochester and hit Irondequoit only today. Nothing much except the African American Barbie I hid.

  4. Same here in Rochester, Ny. The CVS across the street from me had some stuff left and they said they would manually ring it in at 75%. I really didn't see anything I wanted. I did scan my card and got a $3 off coupon for Physicans formula makeup. My daughter is into their deep pigmented eyeshadow. There were some 75% off so she got 2 for under $2.50. She saved about $22:D
  5. Found virtually nothing but my own stashes. Aisles nearly stripped bare. Did find some Halloween candy in the regular aisles. Look for the M&M snack packs with the coupon on it. The coupon expired yesterday, but they are generally the Halloween ones. Also found Hershey's Miniatures in fall packaging and Tootsie rolls that were not midgees all in the regular candy aisle.

Someone earlier posted about the M&M's. I went in this afternoon with that advice. I found 2 with the coupon in plain and 1 in peanut, Then I searched for the same upc code. I found 7 bags. Also scored 2 reeses bags with ghosts on the bag in with the regular.(cashier wouldn't take coupon) I had 4 large wonka and airhead bags hid and got those. Stocking candy is all set for us!! My Daughter scored some nice jewelry that rang 90% off.
  6. I have 4 Japanese female co-workers and need gifts for 3 of them (already have an idea for 1 of them)

One is married and age 36. Hates frogs, kinda quiet,

The other is 24 and has a boyfriend, she cooks often and brings the same stuff for lunch the whole week. She also spends a lot of time on the train to and from work. She likes cute things too.

The last is 26 and has a boyfriend and complains a lot and kinda reminds me of squidward. She likes 7-up and Dr. Pepper. (maybe flavored candy is an option)

I need ideas!!! It can be USA stuff and I have great GDers in the exchange thread who can help me out as well. ;)

    How about:

a vintage style soda shirt for the soda lover.

A trendy travel bag or"stand out" headphones for the commuter

For the older married woman something she can share with hubby (music cd's, american cookbook- diner, roadhouse, southwestern, bbq and matching fun aprons)

  7. Some really great ideas here. Our first grandbaby is due Dec. 31 and I am confused about what to do. I want her to have Christmas presents in case she's born early, but not sure if I should get an "Baby's First Christmas" things in case she comes after Christmas, lol I am sure I will think of something...

If she arrives after christmas take advantage of all the "Baby's first christmas" markdowns. She will be all set for next year.

  8. I can't imagine the pain you and your children have had this year. I'm so sorry for your loss. I am happy that the children are doing well in school. Congratulations on your son's acceptance to the academy. I remember the first holidays after my Mom died. Our family is small so it is really just myself, my 2 brothers and our kids. I try every year to keep some of the magic she held so dear and make some new traditions the kids can remember. Maybe you can find 1 special photo of each child and Dad and have them put into special frames. (printing them in b&w gives them a timeless look) You may want to write a small note as to why this photo is extra special to you. If at all possible celebrate the holidays but tone it back a bit. Your husband would want that for the kids. Let your sons have the honor of things like turkey carving and tree setup. These will make new memories and will give you many "Remeber when Dad did this or that..." there will be smiles and laughter. You will catch yourself as if you shouldn't but it is ok:gdconsoling1: Hang your husbands stocking and add a special ornament for him. Surround yourselves with loving family and friends. You and your family will make it through these holidays and many more. I wish your family all the best:gdhug1:
  9.

The only thing I'm having an issue with is a "big" gift for my 10 year old stepdaughter. She has everyyyyything. Just got an iPod touch and a laptop for her birthday (moms side)...so I'm at a loss. She's do for an upgrade on her cell phone right before Christmas, but I don't know how well I'll be able to play that off as a gift, persay, seeing as how it'll will be nearly free and she knows that since we told her she had to wait. lol. So what do you buy a 10 year old girl who has everything?!

If she is set for the "preteen/teen" electronics then what about clothing or jewelry. Leather jacket, boots, designer purse or fragrance. A lot of the designers have lines for the younger ladies. Good luck!

  10. Thanks Kim3498! I'm looking for new and old titles. I want to do games that are a bit different from what we have for the family system and will take advantage of the "great graphics card". My boys say it is a totally different system and the games are better. They have been asking for 2 yrs. now. How about Racing games? I'll keep an eye on the Dell site.
  11. Totally agree with ya on that one. DH has a friend that is the manager at our local Gamestop and he told DH not to play these two games or Modern Warfare in front of DS12. He is a avid gamer and said he could barely stomach some of the graphics in these games himself. DS12 has had the Xbox 360 for 2 years now, and there are lots of really good games that you can get for this age group. He really enjoys the Naruto and Dragon Ball Z games (He loves fighting games, and these shows are very popular with this age group). A new Naruto game is due out 10/12 just in case your interested. It is called Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2. He also enjoys the Legos Indiana Jones, Indiana Jones 2 and Legos Batman games. DH actually likes the Legos games himself. So much so that I bought him Star Wars complete set for his PS3 (which they have had loads of fun with). DS is getting the Xbox 360 Kinect that is due to be released Nov. 4 for Christmas to go with the 360. Sortof works like the Wii only you don't need to use a controller. It picks up your body motion.

Great! These are similar titles they already have for PS2, DS and Wii. I have been browsing Target and I haven't seen many of these "pre-teen" games there. It's either the war games or super kiddie games. They are with me when I go into the Gamestores so I can't look then. I don't want to ask my kids for any suggestions. This is going to be a total surprise. If your 12 year old has any suggestions for games please let me know. Thanks:)

  12. I'm heavily anticipating Kinect. And as far as that goes, there's a lot of family friendly games lined up for that. Sports, Adventures, Joy ride, Dance Central, Kinectimals, etc. There's no reason to throw a kid into M rated games simply because you're buying them an Xbox 360, especially given the sheer number of family friendly alternative titles. Some more titles would be Viva Pinata (plus Trouble in Paradise and Party Animals, which are also Viva Pinata titles), Banjo and Kazooie, Legend of Spyro, Eternal Sonata (although not violent this does deal with death and surrealism, so that's something to consider).

It is certainly not my place to tell another parent what games their kid can and can't play, but I do wish more parents would be smart about the rating system. It is there for a reason.

Thanks for the advice!! Don't freak out on me here. :)LOL! I was just running off ideas from what has been so heavily advertised as we browse. We usually rent before we buy anyway. I was hoping that some of these rated M games have violence controls under the "options" feature of the game. That's why I threw out some title names. My brother has a PS3 and some of his games have this option. I assumed with this being a similar(but different) system it would be the same. We have a Wii and PS2 with lots of the "Family" style games you have already mentioned. No, we don't just let our kids play or do anything unsupervised. My boys get excellent grades, are well rounded kids and aren't" video zombies". This is why these forums are so great! You get all types of opinions and info. Thanks for the info about the Marvel game we will keep an eye on that.

  13. Look what I found guys for just 11.00 a piece it was not marked, I read they were on clearance from another website

I went to 2 stores looking for this and had no luck. I did find this for $24.xx :

    http://www.walmart.com/catalog/allReviews.do?product_id=11072524

I may return it though. The reviews go both ways for this. I didn't see any instructions, but I guess my brother will figure it out.

  14. I'm starting to think about our menu for both holidays. :holiday03I am trying to be more versatile and still keep some family favorites. I have reached the point where I am tired of the same old thing but my family isn't. I decided to sneak a new dish in every holiday. This is a suggestion I took from another GD buddy last year and my family LOVED it and even asked for it at Easter. http://busycooks.about.com/od/sidedishrecipes/r/potatoesgrand.htm

Please share your menus and dishes that you have tried that were a big hit.:D
