  1. Online only items.  Wonder why b&m stores are closing.  Online isn’t better, colors vary way too much, inventory isn’t correct, items get canceled.  While convenience wins online, that’s pretty much it for me.  I like to see and feel fabrics.  For example, some flannel is thinner than others.  Try matching a black pair of shoes with a black dress online.

And don’t even get me started on returns.

I miss the good ol days of physical shopping.

  2. Again, to get most of the deals, payment plans are required, also, these are for someone that is not on my plan.  Makes it much more difficult to gift and get at any type of discount.  I’m finding my best option is to go directly through Apple.  Get unlocked, pay a little extra for that, only get 1, move on, LoL.

I wanted to take advantage of the gift card deal when adding a line or upgrading. I was upgrading my daughter from the iPhone SE 2020 and adding a line for my son on Verizon. I was going to use the gift cards towards my youngest son and daughter a new swing set. Due to inventory issues with Apple products I decided to go ahead and go through Verizon for my daughter's phone. I upgraded her line but since I didn't trade in her current phone I can wait to activate the new one on Christmas. I ended up doing the Walmart deal last night for the Samsung A42 with Verizon for my son. He will be 9 next month so that one will be fine for him. With the plan, phone payment, and insurance it's $55 a month for his line. Not too bad. I am interested to see what Walmart has planned for the 3rd event when it comes to cell phones but I don't think it will be as good as what we previously have seen.

At the Verizon store, I was told I could order my phones now and they would hold them until shortly before Christmas and that I could come in after Christmas and activate the new phones, transfer the data, and trade in the old phones.  I do not think this is an uncommon ask.  When he ordered my phones, he put a note to hold until 12/26.

  3. I am also looking to purchase iPhones, as gifts.  What I am running into, the deals are typically for payment plans and/or trade ins, kinda difficult when your gifting them.  To open a gift card isn’t quite the same as opening a new phone.  Any suggestions appreciated.

  4. Okay, so I have completed a search on archives and the most recent product chart I can locate is 2018.

Will someone please help me locate 2020 or even 2019 charts.

Or if better topic wise, I’m looking for laptop sales.  I can’t actually search the previous ads, if it matters, I’m on an iPad.

    thanks in advance.

  5. Then you should know. Some deals are pretty pedestrian and others are very good. It's about time for a top ten deals contest. If that were live, I would go with these...

Vizio E50 70" 4K Ultra HD SmartCast Home Theater Display $928.00

Staples Samsung 27" Curved LED Monitor $179.99

Staples Dell 27" IPS LED Monitor $139.99

    Staples Samsung 27" Wide-Screen LED Monitor $149.99

Staples AOC 24" LED Monitor $84.99

Staples Dell 24" IPS LED Monitor $99.99

    Staples Samsung 24" Wide-Screen LED Montior $99.99

Staples Samsung 24" Curved LED Monitor $129.99

Roku 2 Digital HD Streaming Media Player $44.99

Staples Amazon Fire TV Stick $29.99

It's early, but all of these are great deals.

While these may be good deals, keeping in mind, I'm not in the market for any of them, so from where I sit, very pedestrian.

I am moving on now, I do not wish to listen to someone that just wishes to argue and belittle others for their opinions. I was hoping for a little more help. Thanks for all that.

  6. What's a normal sale? We've been in recession for ten years. Everything has been on sale for six years. You really should not be looking through the ads for deals. Instead, make a list of the things you want or need, read reviews to cull out makes and models that appeal to you, check the deal sites for recent best prices, then compare to the BF ads. We are within the return/rebuy period for most stores, so, if you see a good deal on something you want, buy it. If you can top that price on BF or any other day, price match or return and rebuy.

Hahaha, how do you think I ended up here? I have made lists, just looking for the best deals as they are now, and reviewing previous years ads, which is really how I did end up here on gottadeal.

Again, lists are made, just st doing my research now, and came across a epfew things in weekly sale ads, that I can get any day of the week for same price.

"Is it just me or do the ads suck this year?"

When we bring back the t-shirts next year, that's going on the back :P

:) can't wait for that one.
  7. I'm looking at some of these ads and am so far, feeling like these so called "Black Friday" sales appear no better than weekly sales.

Maybe I just am not looking for anything, but even weekly sale ads are now looking like normal everyday prices. Here's an example, looking at my weekly Best Buy ad, shows amazon fire tv stick with voice remote for 39.99, I can get this any day from amazon or staples for same price. Also, Arlo security cam systems, not really a sale, different prices for different number of cams, but again can get their weekly sale prices any day.

I have been able to score some really nice deals from kohls, nice shirts for $5, a pair of shoes I have been watching for 1/2 price.

Please don't let this be all there is for Black Friday.

Any one else having this problem? Hoping for more, maybe my expectations are just to high, lol.

    Thanks

  8. Oh ok. I get ya. DS18 was into the beats too at first. I think the dr dre name plus the cool colors draw more attention. Keep an eye out for earlier this month too. I bought his beats studio earlier in November at Bestbuy cheaper than any of the Black Friday ads.

    Will do, thanks again

  9. On the beats, were they a specific request? The reason I ask is my DS18 has gotten a new pair of beats for the last 3 years. When his new pair that he got this past Christmas broke in March we looked at Bose headphones instead. He loves them. Says the sound quality is so much better and they are made much better. I looked back in the bestbuy ad from last year and they were in the ad for $59.99 and I'm seriously hoping they are that price again as DH wants a pair as well.

If you specifically need beats I got my best prices at Bestbuy and Staples the last 3 years.

Yes, these are specific requests, beats solo3 rose gold. Thanks, I'll keep an eye on these ads

I have Bose and love them.

  10. Radio Shack has had a sale on Beats since 2013. Could even be later than that, but I only looked back to 2013. I bought a pair for my daughter in 2014. That was the one and only time I went shopping on Thanksgiving, but the sale was worth it.

Ah yes, thank you, I forget about radio shack, I need to find closest one. Thanks

That's why I just bought the hub and 2 bulbs to start with. :) Those were fun to play around with to get started. The little toggle switch we installed yesterday is pretty cool, it doesn't stay in an up or down position, it stays in the middle and you push it up or down, and it goes back to middle. That way we can use regular bulbs outside , and control both lights with one smart switch.

Let me know of you have any questions!

Thanks for the info bluebear. I'm choosing smartthings as I already have ge light bulbs, but only the link Hub, so I am looking to expand and it looks like smartthings is most platform independent/cross platform compatible.

  11. Smartthings had a sale last weekend, and Amazon also ran the same sale. I bought our smart things hub last year, and I really can't remember if there was a sale, I'm pretty sure there was, seems like $50 off a kit. I ended up getting just the hub from amazon warehouse deals.

We've had it since last Christmas, and husband has fiddled a little with it, but just this past week he has really got serious. We are now utilizing a smart bulb, smart outlet (my Christmas tree will be plugged into this so it will come on when I get home!!), the porch lights are on a smart toggle outlet, and the door knob also uses the presence sensor. Last week it only integrated with the nest, so he's been busy!

I would be sure to check the smart things store and Amazon. I saw a hub at home depot last night. But I know Amazon seems to mirror the ST store sales.

Thanks for the info and I'll keep an eye out.

I did see the Amazon deal, but also saw deal for 65 on smartthings, I'm just getting started in this space and don't want to spend too much, in case it doesn't work as I expect.

  12. Looking for a 32 or less than 40ish, for bedrooms, smart would be nice, but not a requirement. Just a basic good old fashion television for, old fashion tv watching or maybe play a video game. Nothing elaborate, I'm not an audiophile or videophile so, maybe using , dare I say it, "rabbit ears". Sometimes simple can be a good thing
  13. I have a Roku and honestly, have never used it for anything other than Netflix.  I'm not even sure what all it can do!  But it works great for Netflix!

I don't think any of the streaming devices can stream NFL games.  You can stream them online, but I don't think through a streaming device.  Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.  I live out of state and would love to watch Steeler games instead of Colts!  I usually stream the game online and watch it on the computer.

I think streaming from computer to roku device, would be something like plex.  i use kodi/xbmc for this on fire tv stick
