Go to circuit city right now and get the olevia 232v its the best picrure and it gives you the best contrast ratio 1600 to 1 and 800cd brightness its the best one out of all 32" that cost under 500.00 dollars. It cost 479 till tomorrow the dynex and the element are trash the next best thing is the envision but its not all that good either the polaroids at walmart are poor the the polaroid at cc are ok, not great but ok; and if you put 50 more to it go to target get the 37" olevia its got the same specs as the 32" but with a bigger screen. All the other 32" are half the specs of the olevia for under 500 dollars. ymmv The thing you want is high brightness and high contrast ratio. stay away from any contrast ratio of less than 800 to 1 and brightness less than 500cd

The ploaroid has a horrible brightness and contrast ratio its not worth the 600 let alone 798 its only 500 brightness and a 800to1 contrast ratio for a 42 " screen and thats horrible the picture might be able to produce 1080p but it looks grey and bleek at best. Go to walmart they have it on display now its not that good but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, for 800 dollars i rather save another 200 and get some thing with at least 1500 to1 contrast and 800 brightness.

All that sums up to this If you want to watch hi def movies for the least amount of money but excellent quality go hddvd, if you want to watch movies on a expensive budget and excellent quality and get 7.1 sound go blu-ray. (Event thought scientist have stated the difference between 5.1` and 7.1 is only noticed by less than 2 percent of humans but go figure. Oh yeah if you go blu-ray go ps3 because you cant update all blueray players and thats one that i know you can. Im going hddvd now then blueray once the ps3 or upgradable bluray players hits 199.99 in 2008,9

I dont own either also but i am going to buy an hdvd player this bf. look at it like this For 169 you get a dvd upscaler and a hddvd player. Other than disney thats really the only guns the bluray folks have, but not really because ill just buy a hdvd everything else and disney dvd and watch a 1080p upscaled disney movie and transformers in hddvd along with my matrix movies. If blu ray was cheaper i might consider the two but its A$$ backwards pricing for the average movie watcher which i am. Not the movie junkie but if i was i would have both bluray and hddvd.
