  1. So what time did they actually launch everything? (Just woke up)

The small items starting to pop up around 12:00 am CST. That continued to about 2:00 am CST. Around 4:00 am some pricing started to change on the bigger items. Best Buy sent out a mass e-mail at 5:00 am CST announcing the sale. Around the same time the more sought after items started to become available. It's almost 7:00 am CST now and they are still rolling them out.

  2. Just take my advice... NEVER buy a Gateway laptop. They're garbage and the customer service is awful.

That is no longer true anymore. Acer has owned Gateway for the last few years. The equipment is made in the same factories as Acer. I can't speak for Acer's support as I have never called it.

Yes, but for only $20 more you are getting better processor, bigger hard drive and better video card....

There is almost no difference between the N450 and N455 CPUs. The benchmarks are practically neck and neck. You are getting a bigger hard drive, but there is no dedicated video card in the laptops. They use shared memory and both use the Intel 3150 built-in chipset. So really you're only getting a bigger hard drive out of the deal.

not here. this timing thing is really annoying

    Try clearing your cache.

  3. Well, I wanted the 150 netbook, but I did score the 200 dollar version. A super deal, but more than I wanted to go. Stupid Best Buy, why not just let everyone know last night that they were going to be in store only? Ridiculous.

You could always cancel the order and go with the Gateway netbook that is $20.00 less.

  4. Uggg....DH stayed up til now to try to get $149 netbooks! I am planning to go to Walmart to get 2 of the $198 laptops for two teenagers, but am worried about not being able to get them. I'm looking at the $249 Acer laptop and $179 Gateway netbooks on BB.....any input on what to do?? They will mainly use them for online classes and facebook, etc.

It really depends on how your children will use them. If you plan on them spending any length of time on the computers then I would suggest the bigger screen and keyboard. Netbooks are great for basic tasks, but I wouldn't want to use one for 3-5 hours every day. The screen is too small and the keyboards are not designed for long term typing (think term papers). The bigger laptops will obviously be heavier and larger than a netbook so you need to take that into consideration.

  5. Thanks TradeViceroy - I got it on b&n's ebay page. It also had a 14 day return policy just in case. Thanks again!

No problem. I picked mine up from them about a week ago. It came sealed in the retail box with everything included. I was impressed. Hopefully you will be too. If not they have a return policy as you pointed out.

  6. Looks like no netbook online this year, unless they change it.

So glad I got it at 179.99 last year.

They posted a Gateway netbook for $179.99 online and it is available to purchase now. There is a second Compaq listed for $149.99 as "coming soon".

    I

    I REALLY want that nook!

If you're okay with a refurbished unit direct from Barnes and Noble you can get it at the same price. It comes with all the accessories and the retail box. You can't tell it is refurbished. It's on B&N's Ebay store.

  7. So they are telling you 12:01 am Friday morning? Hah when I called to get my order fixed they said 5:00 am EST today. Is it asking too much for Best Buy to keep their representatives informed? :)

For those looking for the Nook Barnes and Noble is selling them refurbished from their Ebay store. The 3G/Wifi one is $99.00 and the Wifi only verison is $84.00. All items ship free. I picked one up a week ago and it was brand new in retail packaging. Something to think about at least for y'all.

  8. when is central time? 1 or 2 hrs after est?

I'll give you an example. Right now it is 3:26 am CST. Therefore it is:

Eastern Standard Time (-5:00 GMT) - 4:26 am EST

Central Standard Time (-6:00 GMT) - 3:26 am CST

Mountain Standard Time (-7:00 GMT) - 2:26 am MST

Pacific Standard Time (-8:00 GMT) - 1:26 am PST

  9. Hmmm, very interesting. That may actually work well for me. I have NEVER bought anything from AMAZON. They dont charge tax? Is this safe (no scams, etc)?

Amazon itself is completely safe. As krunkee pointed out, if you buy from the marketplace be careful that the seller has a good reputation. They only charge tax in a handful of states. However the $179.99 price is from Amazon so you're good to go.

If you have a Discover card use it and it'll knock off another $10.00. Amazon is throwing in $5.00 credit towards their MP3 store. It's not a bad deal. Use the money you save for that gift card if you absolutely need one.

  10. Does anyone know any other place I can get an IPod Touch online with a gift card as well? Im gettin sleeeeeppppy.

Amazon has it for $179.99 with free shipping. After you add shipping (unless it's free, but BB seems to be taking away a lot of the free shipping offers) and taxes Amazon might be a better bet. Spend the money you saved on a gift card from the store of your choosing and you might be ahead in terms of savings.
