  1. I know alot of people say not to get Westinghouse... I got one back in 2006 a 32inch and it runs perfectly. We have moved 1x and moved it several times inside our house. Still works great like when new. Right now its in the basement waiting to be installed on the wall. I upgraded to a 42inch 3D smartTVfor my bedroom last year so DH has taken it for his shop...

I bought a 32" Westinghouse from Best Buy a number of years ago (maybe 2006) and it is excellent. It has been used continually and has not had any problems. Others comment on the excellent image. I bought another one for a friend a couple years ago and that tv is also fine. I would definitely buy a Westinghouse again and have recommended it to others who are seeking value and quality in a television.

  2. I was just thinking about this now... anyone have it? get it today and try it out?

I see it is still the BF price online now...

    Thanks.

I bought it and it is very highly rated. I later went to Sam's Club and noticed the same speaker/dock, but perhaps a newer design that is thinner on the top. I decided I liked that model (thinner on top) and bought it for $10 more (but with a credit card deal, it was less expensive than WalMart). The Sony is a great machine and its performances matches the ratings that I read. The sound is excellent with 3 options for bass, etc. I am so impressed with the looks and performance that I am going to buy another one. I think the WalMart model is the exact same model (showed up with the same bar code) so it should perform equally as well. I just saw a deal announcement that the $49 was the lowest price ever seen for this machine.

I highly recommend this Sony Speaker Dock. The display is excellent, and it has a remote control, alarm clock, automatic change of clock for daylight savings time, a sleep function and a line input for other devices.

  3. We got two of the BF 5" GPS units with lifetime traffic and lifetime maps. One is the Garmin 1450LMT purchased at Target and the other is the TomTom XLL 550TM purchased at Best Buy Does anyone have any recommendations about which is better?

Garmin units seem to be highly rated overall. I have had a basic TomTom One for years (6?) and it has been completely trouble - free, accurate, etc.

These are my current questions about the units:

    a) I particularly like the display on the TomTom because it displays information about a) miles to destination (I really like and use this) and B) time and estimated time of arrival. The information is displayed in small text at the bottom of the display and does not interfere with the map. I changed the display information on a Garmin via the Maps options (did not try it on the 1450 LMT). I could set it for more display information but it put the information in large letters on the right side of the display and it took up almost 1/3 of the screen; this makes the display of map information much smaller. I found this problematic for the Garmin because I am so accustomed to using the display information on the TomTom.

    B) There was some concern in reviews about the TomTom flat suction cup that is built into GPS. It folds into the GPS when not in use to make storage compact. However, there seems to be some problem with changing the positioning of the GPS windshield. I am not sure that this flat suction cup is in the TomTomXXL550TM.

Any recommendations/insights that you can provide on either model would be very much appreciated. We intend to only keep one of them so that is the reason for the decision.

  4. Shoppers were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and patient in NW Ohio (Bowling Green and Perrysburg). They gave suggestions on items, offered to help hold items in their cart, offered to let me get in a position in line, etc. I was very impressed and it certainly made the experience pleasant especially in long lines in the Perrysburg Wal-Mart (long lines aggravated by no baggers; management just stood around and watched). Sincere appreciation to the kindness of the shoppers in these locations.
  5. I purchased the 32" Westinghouse LCD tv for my mother at Black Friday at Best Buy a number of years ago (5-6). It has been on 18/7 for all that time and it has always worked very well. It has a great picture and the set itself looks good. I would buy a Westinghouse again based upon my experience.
  6. Minneapolis, MN

    Target

Line did not form until 4 a.m. Amazing. I checked the line at 11:30, 1, and 3. I got there at about 4:10 and there were 11 people in line. The customers were great and Target was well organized. A number of sales associates were stationed at the tv section and some carts were pre-loaded with a tv. There were no lines at any checkouts so it could have taken 5 min. from entrance to exit.

  7. Minneapolis, MN

    Target

Line did not start until 4 a.m. Amazing. I checked the line at 11:30, 1, and 3 and no one was in line. I got there just after 4 and there were 11 in line. The customers were great and Target was exceptionally well organized. Some carts were already loaded with a tv with many sales associates at the tvs ready to assist. There was no wait at the checkout. Easiest Black Friday sale I have ever seen. From entrance to exit, it could have taken 5 minutes.

  8. I'm in Mpls. I am going to start checking Target on Thursday night but I have no idea what to expect. Depending on the situation, I will either get in line or go back later to check. I used to camp out overnight (starting at 2 pm Thursday) at Best Buy in another state but this time I am going to get in line at Target for a friend in Minnesota. Anyone have any ideas when lines begin to form at Target in Mpls?
  9. Purchased a 32" Westy from BB about two years ago - at 18 months the picture went out completely. Talked with both Westy and BB and was told "too bad, 12 month warranty expired". A television should last more than 18 months without a major repair. Again, just my personal experience, but I have a good friend who purchased the same television and had the exact same issue.

I purchased the 32" Westinghouse from Best Buy a couple years ago. The television is on almost all day and it works great. There have been absolutely no problems and friends marvel at the picture quality. Based upon my experience, I would purchase a Westinghouse again; we have been very pleased with this television.

  10. I camped out for 15 hours to get the 32" LCD Westinghouse tv as a gift. I was #3 in line. I opened it today to make sure that it was working before I brought it out-of-state as a Christmas gift for my family.

The tv is WONDERFUL! I have analog cable but the picture (480) was very good and I thought the stereo sound was excellent. This should be spectacular with HD.

I am thrilled with this tv. I had a very good time camping out (low was 29 degrees) but the fact that the tv is so terrific makes the experience even better.

    Yeah.

  11. My suggestion for the ticket distribution is to KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). I remember when the process used to be simple and it worked well. It should not be difficult to disseminate the few number of tickets for each item.

    These are my suggestions:

    1) The representative should go down the line, loudly call out the item, establish eye-contact and get verbal positive response from each person. The sales people must be very assertive and accurate in the ticket distribution. I think they should practice before the actual event.

    2) All the tickets should be distributed before any additional forms (e.g. BB forms, computer accessories/plans) so one process does not interfere with the other.

    3) The ticketers should not overlap one another to avoid interference in the process.

We encounter several problems this year with the ticket distribution. I have listed a few of the problems below:

    a) This year, the representatives were so busy handing out additional forms (e.g. computer accessories/plans, BB forms) that it significantly interferred with the ticket distribution. Individuals were bypassed because of interference by another representative handing out the forms.

    B) The first person in line for 19 hrs. was passed over for the HP computer because the representative simply skipped to about the 5th person. I was 3rd in line (15 hr. camp out) and was passed over for two items! Fortunately, we caught one ticketer to get a ticket and the manager did give a substitution on an item.

    c) One ticketer was initially going down the line and handing out tickets to each person whether the individual wanted the item or not. People had to refuse the ticket and give it back to the representative. It almost looked as though the directions were to "hand out the tickets to the first people in line."

The Best Buy personnel were very nice and helpful. I think it was the process itself that caused the problems. The managers should establish effective strategies and train sales (including practice) personnel in the process.

  12. Our Best Buy mishandled the ticket distribution and the first 2 of us in line (who had camped out for 15/19 hrs!) did not receive the tickets for the HP notebook DV6103NR listed in the BB ad. As a substitute, they gave the us the Gateway MX6426. I would appreciate it if someone would provide me with information regarding the appropriateness of this substitution.

The HP seems to be more popular and have more information available on the product. I would like to have some expert advice on this comparison.

    1) The HP 6103NR has Intel® Centrino® mobile technology with interrelated Intel® Core™ Solo processor T1350, Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection (802.11a/b/g), 512MB DDR2 memory expandable to 2GB; 533MHz frontside bus, 2MB L2 cache and 1.86GHz processor speed.

    2) The Gateway MX6426 has AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology ML-40 HyperTransport™ and AMD PowerNow!™ technologies, 1GB PC4200 DDR memory expandable to 2GB.
