I'm not sure how much they've improved, but my first computer in college (that was almost 8 years ago now) was an eMachines, and it was terrible. It crashed at every opportunity it had, had terrible software, outdated drivers, and needed to have its cache cleared at least once a week in order to operate. My sister-in-law had one as well and had similar problems about 2 years ago. Mine was bought at CC and her's was at BB
