The phenomenon has been apparent this month, when LCD-TV sales are softening due to the cessation of pricing deals offered in April and May. "Once the price deals went away, demand went away," Patel said. Pricing is the key factor driving consumers to recommend an LCD-TV model or brand to their friends and family members, according to iSuppli. Beyond reduced panel costs, television brands also are set to reduce prices by utilizing less expensive sales channels. "Consumers are becoming more comfortable with buying LCDs from Internet retailers and mass merchandisers, and they have become more concerned about paying too much for a television set," Patel observed. "These outlets offer televisions at lower prices than traditional electronics specialty stores." With the essential Black Friday deals expected to make their annual appearance, iSuppli recently boosted its forecast of 2009 LCD-TV sales to 123 million units, up from 110 million before. This is down from an average of US$634 in June. For 42-inch Full High-Definition (HD) or 1080p sets, pricing in November will fall to US$628, down from US$856 in June. Black Friday specials could be as low as US$499.We've posted deals for 32" LCD HDTVs for around $349 and 42" 1080p LCD HDTVs for $599, so $50 and $100 drops from those prices on BF seem likely. I'd even go a little cheaper with my prediction, depending on the brand. As always though, if you are willing to pay $100-200 more, you can get a much, much better model that you'll likely be much happier with over time. How did you get this for $399?? its online for $699. I was in store getting a new cell phone and the line was long, so I wandered back into the tv section to see what they had for a bedroom setup, which I was casually shopping for. I was intrigued by a low-end Samsung that was on sale the week previous for $450, but back at regular price then. Long story short, the employee walked me back to a clearance deal and the A550 was marked down to $399.99 from $949.99. Needless to say I asked, "How many do you have?!" I currently have a 32 inch lcd and the mount will hold up to 42 I think but depending on price would go larger if I could find a reasonably priced mount. WM offered 50-inch Samsungs for $799 last year, and with mail-order prices dipping pretty close to that mark now, you wonder how low a price is needed to grab people's attention. drmad7 Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 I need(want) three tvs. A 42" for Family Room, 32" for master bedroom, and maybe a 15-20" for son's bedroom. My wife and I have done BF forseveral years but I will be in Afghanistan this time. I will be in the States during October (Ohio and Texas) and I'm hoping to score some deals during that two week window. I would order a tv now, but I need to be home to put it up etc... My fingers are crossed. I'm willing to spend about $800-$900 on the 42" and another $700 on the other two combined.
