horid return policy/unstable company

Electronics without receipt, no return. Electronics outside 45 day window, no return no exception. If you shop the last of October, first week of November for Christmas you are stuck. No return/exchange with no exception. No wonder they are struggling. They should be. Their policy sucks.

The no receipt, no return policy applies to everything, not just electronics. I don't like it but it seems all stores are doing it to reduce fraud. Just another case of a few bad apples ruining it for everyone.

I'd call and speak with a manager to clarify this. They should at least do an exchange if something is defective. If your 45 day window is almost expired, maybe they could let you bring it back and then buy it again for you could get a fresh 45 days. I think if you explain the situation to a manager they would understand.

I don't get the 45 day thing. Everywhere else is 90 days.

I think that they have been doing this for a year now and not just electronics. It's really stupid because what parent has never gotten a duplicate gift for their child? And most people don't give gift receipts. I can see not giving cash back, but if they sell the item what does it hurt to give a store credit and let the child pick out a different gift? They don't even let you exchange something (a barbie for a different barbie). They're not out any money. And I understand only giving credit for the lowest sale price. If something doesn't work 60 days later (for example) you can go and buy a new one and return the old one with the new receipt.

Well most electronic stores only give you 30 days, with only 15 days on some items like computers.

Most also have a Holiday return policy that is a bit more relaxed. For instance... with Best Buy, anything purchased after Nov 1 and before December 25 can be returned by 8 Jan 08.

TRU does have a Holiday return policy listed for their online store where "anything" can be returned if postmarked before 4 Jan 08 regardless of purchase date. I'm not sure if this also applies to BM stores, but I would call 1-800-869-7787 to speak with a rep and confirm before I jumped to conclusions. I couldn't find anything about a Holiday return policy for their stores.
