you'll need a router.

Or the Nintendo WiFi adapter ($35). Router is a better way to go if you ever plan on networking any other devices (not just computers - i.e. TiVo, VOIP box, etc)

LOL shouldn't that be a Wii-Fi adapter? :D

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. :o

Anyway, I'm looking to get a Wii sometime soon. I'll have to check this out.

I honestly have no idea. I have wireless so I don't know if it's connected all the time or just when we use it.

Pam, i dont think it will. One of the big things with the Wii is it is always online...ALWAYS. It can download updates & such while you sleep. So I am thinking without hi-speed internet, It probably wont. This thread reminds me, I need to get a Wi-fi adaptor. We had too many issues with wireless, so we went back to our old Microsoft wired router. Finally, a reason to get one, other than Animal crossing!

I have broadband myself but since I can't figure out how to set up my wireless, I'm just piggybacking off of someone else's system. Gator Pam: maybe you can do this? Go into the setup menu on the Wii and see if there are any unlocked, green connections detected. Maybe you'll get lucky.

I ordered 4 straps. I figure with kids better safe than sorry. My 20 month old was playing last night and she threw the remote across the room. We strap her arm now! *She doesn't really play, she just swings the remote around while others play.

LOL, my 2yo DS does that too. Not with the Wii yet, because its wrapped under the tree, but he has a Gamecube & PS2 controller, lol.

Oh, and thanks for the bump, reminded me I still need to get a wifi adaptor.

It looks like we'll be unable to take advantage of the Wii's online capabilities right away, but I am pretty sure Beorn will enjoy the games we get for him.

He's not into sports or Mario-type games, but he is a big anime fan. I got him the Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 game. Has anyone heard anything about it? I know it's rated T, so I expect it to be a bit more violent than the GameCube games he's had.

But, he is also 13 now...

It works after both people have added. I still haven't been able to see any new mii's coming through yet. Hopefully today I'll have a parade.
