What are you going to be using it for?

Thanks! It will be mostly used by my high schooler.

That doesn't really narrow it down much. High schoolers do all kinds of stuff these days.

Solely for academic purposes?

Photo/Video/Audio Editing?

Computer Science?

Gaming?

Makes sense. It will be used mostly for academic purposes with some photo/video/audio editing. Don't need a gaming machine or advanced graphics.

I would encourage you to go to blackfridaycharts.com to see them for yourself, but here's what I see:

Staples, Office Depot, & Best Buy all have a ~$450 machine that's either i3 or AMD A9 ish. This will be bare minimum to get by, but decent deals on those.

Then, Staples & Best Buy have ones around $699 with a bump in the processor to i5; Best Buy being the better deal of those two with 12GB RAM. I think that's your best bet for a machine that will last a few years, but if you're on a budget, one of those first 3 should get by for a high schooler for now.

Thank you , this helps a lot ! I would probably go with the Best Buy / Staples one considering it has a better configuration - hopefully it will survive for the next few years
