I got Beorn the Xbox One S last year, and I would like to get him a decent, but not too pricey, headset for it this year. As we live completely across the continent from each other now, I have no idea what brands are considered the ones to get.

Any decent headsets at good prices I should line up for or try to get online?

It is wired I believe but it is a good one. It all depends on your setup and what they will like

I was told by the son of the couple I live with, who is an avid gamer, to avoid wireless headsets for now. He claims none of the wireless ones are reliable enough for gaming with others.

If that's not the case, I'm definitely interested in hearing about a decent priced wireless headset.

I prefer wireless because of the way my man cave/office - well space my DW lets me use is setup. The TV Is mounted and away from the couch. If I did wired I would have to be right up on it. but for a kid if there in there room and in a chair or bed then wired would be fine. You would not have to worry about batteries or charging it.
