Is this going to be a hot item this year? My oldest asked for it. Release date is in December. Experience tells me I’ll be lining up for it. :(. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-playstation-classic-console/6301601.p?skuId=6301601&ref=212&loc=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw0oveBRAmEiwAzf6_rPdcLjKvqbOqJOP6sqKI2pRJtDAOqc6Szv5kUwZgbXmGRiHDJ4jvLxoCsVMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Wait for a Sears Telegames classic or Magnavox Odyssey classic. Imagine the controllers on those things being bigger than the mini system itself! ;)

But as far as the PlayStation Classic Mini being a hot item, it's possible as this would be Sony's first Mini version of a classic console. But at only 20 games included? Hopefully the rumors about a N64 Classic Mini from Nintendo will be true and compete with them.

It doubt it'll cause any drop in prices on their current console, the PlayStation 4. That didn't happen for Nintendo when the madness about the NES and SNES Classic Minis occurred. Any drop in the core system would likely occur because of the success of the PS4 Pro. But, it's Sony, so who knows.

Personally I'm waiting for a gameboy classic. DO IT NINTENDO.

And yes, I don't think it'll drop the price on a PS4 - they're different systems.

I don't think the price will lower, so I'd just go ahead and preorder it to save your time in line if they really want it.  I'm not sure if it will be a hot item like the Classic NES ones, but I'm sure it will sell out the first shipment or two.

I have 2 girls that aren’t really into gaming (they barely play the wii) but I, personally, would be all for this!! I think they would too! Man, oh, man, you just got me excited! DO IT NINTENDO

I've thought about building one of these using like a raspberry pi and emulator software. I may have to do it one day soon, now where is the router stored?????? :)

Wish I could put half a dozen of those arcade machines in my apartment. I'm just not a big fan of going smaller.

While we're on the subject of console replicas there are other options you can consider other than these minis with built-in games. Stone Age Gamer is a good place to go, especially for the RetroN5 (plays Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Famicom, Super Famicom, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and Megadrive cartridges). Costs a bit more than the console minis and you need physical cartridges to play, but imagine a 9-in-1 system with HDMI and wireless controllers.

Or if you really want to go all-out classic stand-up arcade machines, there's Northcoast Custom Arcades. Careful not to drool on your PC monitor once you see those. All sizes, including full-size stand-ups and the sit-down cocktail machines. A bit on the pricey side for pre-built (starting at about two grand) but you can get a cheaper do-it-yourself kit. One day I will make one. One day. :cry2:

Thanks for sharing. I might have go get this as I had quite a few of those games about 20 years ago. I'm a little disappointed of the lack of Lara Croft as I do love my Tomb Raider.

One of my first BF purchases was the original Playstation. I worked at Sears and we had a 20 percent off coupon plus our employee discount. 17 year old me thought I was pretty hot stuff bringing home a video game system the day after Thanksgiving. Haha! How the times have changed.

This would be wonderful at a place where there is a lot of kids , like a youth program or something. I wonder how many games are on it

If you go to their site, they have the games that are available on each machine. Usually 3-4 games on each stand up cabinet. And for the people who don't want to play sitting down, there's a riser you can buy to make it regular height.
