Thank you SO much!  I think I'm leaning towards the Dell.  They've been workhorses for me in the past, and I'm reading good things about their gaming laptops.  I really appreciate all of the information!

I believe the best value in a gaming laptop for Black Friday will be the Dell Gaming Laptop in the Microsoft ad...

https://www.microsof...vot:overviewtab

which will be $599.99 and has the following specs...

• 15.6-inch Full HD display
• Intel Core i5-8300H
• 8GB memory/1TB HHD
• VR-ready NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics

That discrete video card is an 'upper mainstream GPU'. Games from 2016 can be played in high settings an the Full HD resolution per...

Scroll down through the reviews to see some game benchmarks.  Note that it plays Warhammer well at medium settings and Ark well at low settings.

Reviews and Questions Answered on Amazon (mind you, this has the better 1050 TI)...

Im running ark on high setting and its going pretty smooth for me so I think you should be fine. Just reduce all non essentials to minimum as you would usually do when getting a new device.

It easily runs fortnite and I have it on high settings.

It's a pretty good laptop, I can play total war Warhammer on ultra setting, so it works pretty well for gaming.

ive been able to run arc on high settings, never crashed and plays really smooth.

Good night.

Can anyone recommend a laptop for programs like Photoshop/Lightroom?  I have a cheapie right now and it gets bogged down very easily.  Don't care too much about screen size, just want something that will open/run programs quickly.  Preferably under $500??
